If it was an in-joke, it was subtle, and kudos to the OP for spotting it.

It depends on the context. If we DO get a PPD Epic AT and it gets a power that grants 9.11% to-hit buff, then yes, people would very much argue over it. On Demon Summoning? Not so much.

It's kind of like watching car license plates. Every now and then you'll spot, say, your own birthday or a symmetrical number like 1221, or even eat the kids first, but those are rarely intentional, so they're rarely worth more than a passing remark. Then you meet someone with a license plate that says NEED4SPD, and you KNOW someone specially requested that. These are worth a lot more discussion.

How's about this: I'm too stupid to get why people are getting their panties in a twist just because I don't like a number in data field. Yeah, I'm pedantic, I can admit to that. Yes, I have plenty of reasons for it that no-one cares about. So? What is this sudden drive to make character assassination attacks on me over it? It's not like I signed up on a burger-lovers' forum to talk about how much better hotdogs are, not unless the forums turned into the one-stop shop for cheap reference enthusiasts.

You guys have been trying to spin my words five ways till Sunday just so you can find some way to take them out of context, misinterpret them, paint a straw man and insult me. I mean, I can take it, I've had worse, but why? I don't get it. Why? What unspoken rule did I break that all of sudden everyone and their grandma is determined to give me a "the reason you suck" speech?

And again, where the hell did I say what you claim I've said? I'd appreciate quotes with a link to the source post, if possible. Because I don't remember so much as alluding to that. All I said in what you quoted was that people are treating my reaction like some kind of red-face, vein-popping rage at the audacity of these guys putting in a minor reference buried in the code, so I should lighten up. And that's simply not the truth. I'm not angry at it, I'm not foaming at the mouth, I'm not seaming out of the years, I'm not jabbing at my keyboard with green, meaty fingers.

I just don't like this fact. You guys are the ones that have a problem with my dislike. And I don't get why.

I KNOW it's ludicrous. I just can't make the jump between expressing how ludicrous a POST is and how ludicrous a PERSON is, nor can I make the connection about how that leads you to throw obscenities at my face.

In fact, I thought I'd made it pretty clear that I, in particular and specifically, did not like the reference, not that you were wrong for liking it or not caring about it. That makes me twice as confused about why you felt the need to attack me, personally, when I didn't address anyone in particular with that statement.

I would have to assume you mean that you would argue 911 appearing on a PPD AT. From my own experience, most folks would not care, with the exception of the one who found that number. This game is filled with obvious easter eggs, and it makes sense that a set about Demon Summoning would have a Demon's number in it somewhere.

I can't say I approve of their methods, but I'd have to hazard the guess that the reaction comes from you actually advocating changing the power, based on a number that you wouldn't have even known was there if not for the thread.

Well, at this point it's a matter of opinion. I still believe people would argue over it, but since I have no actual evidence to that fact, it's nothing more than an unsubstantiated belief that you are well within your right to disagree with. I still feel there are more anal people (such as myself) who would have an opinion, but I can't really know.

I... Wait what? Advocated changing... What? I said I didn't like it, that much is true, but I don't remember making the leap into suggesting it be changed. I don't like the Jake Emmert mission or the Lethal Weapon knockoff Detectives in Steel Canyon, but I'm FAR from suggesting they be changed. That's the sort of thing that makes me roll my eyes with displeasure, but even I would say it's pointless to go back and change it.

Again, the whole argument is academic, pretty much on the same level as "regular butter is better than peanut butter" or "my dad can beat up your dad." OK, it's STUPID, but I mean academic in the sense that it has no practical application, not that it's intellectually high-brow, which it isn't.

Seriously, did I suggest a change? I haven't gone back to read my posts in the thread, but if I alluded to that anywhere, please point it out so I can go edit it out. That would be pretty bad if I did it.

I'm sticking by my first statement. =D

because people assume things are quick too judge/dismiss and in general think closed minded.
they get in a routine and stick with one train of logic ...sometimes they may switch a track here and there but more than likely people are mostly the same "set in there ways".

some people may say "no i'm a noble tomato, i'm not like that!" but no people are in general island among themselves to a certain extent as the saying goes "birds of a feather flock together" that's why you get clicks like in high school people that have certain personalty traits usually stick together ...flock together.

it's nothing wrong with it ...that's just the way life is.

just look back and read the comments you can kinda see the different personalty types in the thread its kinda funny how people are and how much people supposedly change that regardless they stay reasonably the same.
