What kind of DS are you rolling?
Poison is the only set I don't have on anything so demons/poison is what I'm going first, then maybe trying storm
/gignore @username is the best feature of this game. It's also probably the least used feature.
Can't get enough Hazy? /chanjoin robo's lounge today!
I tried DS/Dark in beta and I really liked it... the damage and survivability were very good and both the whip and the /Dark powers could be recolored a surprisingly bright pink. (I wanted my DS MM to be truly evil so I made her a bright pink catgirl.)
I may also try DS/Pain since the demons don't stay grouped up close enough to heal them all with Dark, or DS/Storm because, well... Storm is just a lot of fun. DS/Traps actually seems like a lot of work to keep the pets in the FFG bubble, but DS/Thermal could be good and would be very thematic. I'll probably make four or five and see which I like best.
Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name
[u]Arcs[u]
The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636
Do the pets have any kind of healing for themselves (IE: like protector bots)? I am guessing we don't know for sure or if it will be any good
I was initially going with Storm, but I realize I have done Storm to death on other toons, and a group heal would be very nice if this is indeed a melee-oriented set with no or limited abilty to heal themselves or eachother. I have only done one Empathy character, and have never done Thermal or Pain, so I am thinking most likely Thermal or Pain unless the pets turn out to be very resilent on their own |
I want a DS/Sonic, but I'll probably cave and make a DS/Thermal rather than wait/hope for proliferation.
(usually I try to vary the sets I use, and Poison is the one set I've not used yet, but I'm holding out for a Pistols/Poison Corruptor and don't like the set enough to use it twice)
I can't decide if I want to roll a /storm or a /thermal.
I've never played either on a MM before, and I LOVE storm. But thermal fits in so well thematically, and I could see forge + that pet buff thing to do some killer damage. All that plus the melt armor...
Granted, storm gets a nice -res as well, plus some good pets...
GRRRR Choices are so hard to make!
FF....why? Because no one else will be FF. It'll be all dark\therm\pain\storm's running around. Besides they have decent resists and layered resist + defense tends to work out pretty well.
The Porcelain God - DarkKinetics Corruptor
Meat Juice - DarkDarkSoul Brute
Pretty and Strong - Do you really have to ask?
I have a little DS/FF on the test server and i'll likely run with that on live. I might even go and make a DS/traps and work on some kinda off the the wall tech/science concept involving nanotech and sever insanity.
I got a DS/Pain on Test got up to Level 21 so far. The demons are so ugly they are CUTE!
Anyway I'm thinking I'm going Thermal in live for the Thermal Armor powers for the demons. The cold demon tends to die a lot. >.>
Edit to add: Oh if you customize the Demonling summoning power >.> Don't know if this will hit live but for now the third minion Hellfire Demonling Fire aura will change to match the custom colors for the Summoning power. *Cough* Pet Customize *Cough*

Do any of the demon pets do AoE or do they all only do ST? That might help me decide on my secondary also.

From the Open Beta forums:
Here's a down-and-dirty introduction to the powers available to a Demon Summoning MM, as well as the powers available to their pets and the powers which the upgrades grant each particular pet. Some of my listed values might be different as the set has changed a fair amount since I17 went into closed beta (for example, I have the Demon Prince's resistance listed as defense, though it was changed to a combination of defense and resistance, and I'm not sure if that change has gone into a public build yet).
As a note, the numbers given here for the attacks are unslotted, level 50 attributes. I included a bit of information about any new pet powers being added, though if there's not a note next to a given power, that means it's more or less the same as the player version of that power. Corruption: 23.25 fire damage on target, 80% chance for 4 ticks of 4.59 toxic damage, -9.38% res to all for 5 seconds Summon Demonlings: Creates 1-3 pets depending on level: * Fiery Demonling: Resistance (+res smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic), Flares, Claw Rake (melee lethal/fire), Super Leap * Cold Demonling: Resistance (+res smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic), Ice Bolt, Claw Rake (melee lethal/cold), Super Leap * Hellfire Demonling: Resistance (+res smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic), Corruption, Claw Rake (melee lethal/toxic), Super Leap Lash: (20 foot range) 32.54 fire damage on target. 80% chance for 4 ticks of 6.42 toxic damage, -9.38% res to all for 6 seconds, 40% chance for knockdown on target Enchant Demon: grants various new powers to henchmen: * Grants power Fire Blast to Fiery Demonling * Grants power Ice Blast to Cold Demonling * Grants power Hellfire to Hellfire Demonling (single-target ranged fire/toxic, -res) * Grants power Breath of Hellfire to Hellfire Gargoyle (15 foot cone fire/toxic, -res) * Grants power Hellfire Aura to Hellfire Gargoyle (auto PBAoE toxic damage aura) * Grants power Fire Breath to Ember Demon * Grants power Abyssal Mending to Ember Demon (ally moderate heal) * Grants power Chilling Embrace to Demon Prince * Grants power Ice Sword to Demon Prince * Grants power Block of Ice to Demon Prince Crack whip: (60 foot cone) 45.27 fire damage on target, 80% chance for 3 ticks of 6.79 toxic damage, -9.38% res to all for 6 seconds, 25% chance for knockdown on target Summon Demons: Creates 1-2 pets depending on level: * Ember Demon: Resistance (+res smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic), Fire Blast, Ember Shield (PBAoE ally smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic res shield), Super Leap * Hellfire Gargoyle: Resistance (+res smash/lethal/fire/cold/toxic), Claw Rake (melee lethal/toxic), Claw Slash (melee lethal/toxic, knockdown), Corruption, Super Leap Hell on Earth: (10 minute recharge) +7.5% tohit, +37.5% damage on targeted pet, chance to spawn "Living Hellfire" pet every 15 seconds for 90 seconds * Living Hellfire: Resistance (+100% lethal/fire damage, -maxHP), Claw Rake (melee lethal/toxic) Summon Demon Prince: Creates 1 pet: * Demon Prince: Resistance (+def smash/lethal/fire/cold), Ice Blast, Shiver, Super Leap Abyssal Empowerment: grants various new powers to henchmen: * Grants power Fire Breath to Fiery Demonling * Grants power Frost Breath to Cold Demonling * Grants power Hellfire Breath to Hellfire Demonling (40 foot cone fire/toxic, -res) * Grants power Hellfire Smash to Hellfire Gargoyle (melee smash/toxic, 40% chance for knockdown) * Grants power Hellfire Burst to Hellfire Gargoyle (PBAoE toxic) * Grants power Fire Ball to Ember Demon * Grants power Abyssal Reconstruction to Ember Demon (PBAoE heal) * Grants power Ice Slash to Demon Prince * Grants power Frozen Aura to Demon Prince --- To sum it up, here are the six pets you'll have, and all the powers they'll have access to once they're equipped with both upgrades: * Fiery Demonling: Resistance, Flares, Claw Rake, Super Leap, Fire Blast, Fire Breath * Cold Demonling: Resistance, Ice Bolt, Claw Rake, Super Leap, Ice Blast, Frost Breath * Hellfire Demonling: Resistance, Corruption, Claw Rake, Super Leap, Hellfire, Hellfire Breath * Hellfire Gargoyle: Resistance, Claw Rake, Claw Slash, Corruption, Super Leap, Breath of Hellfire, Hellfire Aura, Hellfire Smash, Hellfire Burst * Ember Demon: Resistance, Fire Blast, Ember Shield, Super Leap, Fire Breath, Abyssal Mending, Fire Ball, Abyssal Reconstruction * Demon Prince: Resistance, Ice Blast, Shiver, Super Leap, Chilling Embrace, Ice Sword, Block of Ice, Ice Slash, Frozen Aura In short, the pets have solid single-target and AoE damage output, some decent stacking resistance debuffs, and good control from the tier 3, to synergize well with almost any secondary. Therm is going to be very popular, and I'd imagine Dark will be another popular choice. |
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
/therm would fix one of the major holes in the demon's resistances so would /FF i'll probably do a /therm as i haven't tried it before and make all my fire and hellfire the same color
i've got a /pain and it's a bit energy intensive yes stamina helps but as i seem to get aracnose mish after aracnose mish it's hard to keep any of them alive for long if there are goups with drones, Mu, and/or Fortunata (yes i've gotten a group with all of them i got nullify off *once* before they all died).

/therm with the 2 res procs will make for some meaty pets.
Then again traps with the two def procs and manuvers will make for a tankable demon prince (even after they lower his def numbers it will still probably be at soft cap) FFgen+manuv+2 procs = ~30% def. He's at 25% now, I don't think they'll lower him past 15%, but maybe.
with chilling embrace and shiver he should pull a lot of aggro.
Just a couple possibilities for those thinking of deviating from the standard bodyguard set up. Cause with so much potential st -res it could be beneficial to specify their targets.
Also I want /cold domination for MM's.
Rolling DS/FF all the way here. Looking forward to seeing what full bubbles would do on these little demons.
I'll probably roll a DS/Poison or DS/Pain. I really love my Thugs?poison MM as he can cripple the defenses of a tough target and really gimp their attacks and recharge lightning fast while my guys pummel them. Would be interested to use Pain though so I can turn the difficulty up a bit with greater healing potential.
Demons/Force Fields.
After trying a few builds on the test server. I have decided to go with Demon/Pain.
Demon/Storm named Mother In Law.
The DS/Dark I've been running on Test has been fantastic - so, I'll be recreating that one when it goes Live.
In the end, though, I'd like to have one with each of the secondaries, as I've done with Mercs.
Gonna be rolling ds/dark. I've never played a /dark MM and I find pain to be utter trash to play. Second choice would be Thermal, it looks fun.
I was thinking either dark or storm, but I will have to test and see how DS plays. I wish you could make all the powers in storm black, but you can't. Then again your pets have cold attacks so if the DS is also using cold attacks then I suppose it would make sense either way. If the demons have good fire resist then thermal will become more attractive to cap that and have fun beating the crap out of longbow. I have never played thermal, so it might be about time to try it with demons.
