No players whatsoever?

So i just bought the architect version from steam, installed and patched, and am playing the champion server.

I finished the tutorial and went straight to galaxy city, but i can't seem to find/see ANY fellow players at all, is this supposed to be? If so, how do i get out/find other players.

If not, is there a fix? Did i do something wrong?

Champion is a low population server. Try starting on the Freedom or Virtue servers in Atlas Park if you want to see more people

Well, that is likely just one of the problems this person is seeing.

Right now, it is early morning in most of the U.S. As such, people here are either likely sleeping, at school, or at work. So they're not likely to be playing.

Also, Galaxy City isn't as used as Atlas Park, so you will see fewer players there. If you're unfamiliar with the team search tool, you might not notice that when you bring it up, it defaults to finding players in your active zone (at least if I recall correctly). So, if there are no players in galaxy City, it won't show anybody else that might be on. Fidget with the search options, and then re-search, and it should bring up more players.

Welcome to the game!

Welcome!

Also, a few other points to consider before going to the other servers.

Look into the sections below for the specific servers, like Champion. You can post, indicating a new player and seeking out others for any particular time of day or location.

There are also global channels, which can give you access to a lot of the activities going on for a server. Again, check the specific server you want and see what is available.

Check out Atlas Park also. In my experience, it is picked more often that Galaxy as a starting point.

The vast majority of the game are in instanced missions. So you will not see a lot of toons running around. Again, using the broadcast and global channels. There is also a search function (/search) that you can flag yourself as looking for a team or see others looking for teams. Don't be afraid to ask! Lots of helpful/nice players out there.

2 more things:

Go onto the Champion server forums and say Hi. (if you decide to stay on that server)

Find out what the main global channel for whichever you choose to stay on and join that. I know on the 2 servers i am on majority of teams/tf's can be found via global channels as well as a variety of chit chat.

edit: darn got my cup of tea and penny beat me

Also, to find other players, use the /search command. Initially it will show you all players in your zone but if you just click on the search button it will show you all [unhidden] players in the game.

(It is possible to STILL get a very low number- on Pinnacle, villainside, at 11 AM Friday, there are 18 players showing, total. )

I do. Every single time I make a new toon, actually. I can't stand Atlas park.

Champion's population is just fine, IMO. That said, Atlas Park is typically the more popular starting zone.

You can also search for people using /search in your chat window. And as someone noted, global channels are your friends.

Just an FYI. As this poster I'm quoting has said we can't get accurate numbers using the Search feature. Many players make use of the /hide feature and Search will not list those people.

Type in /hide and you'll get a window that allows you to customize just who can find you. We got this feature because we had a huge problem with RMTers (gold farmers) harassing players with spam.

Well, to be fair, Warshades are forced to go there to do their arcs

Also, the majority of missions take place inside of instances so a much smaller portion of the playerbase are out on the streets compared to other MMOs.

Galaxy should be nuked until it looks like Boomtown imo. I pity the Warshades who have to go there...well, they don't have to.

Welcome to the game & forums.

Wondering if we shouldn't just request a "Where is everyone?" sticky, post-free-server-transfers and new zone/activities additions to the game, for everyone who will be returning for i-17 &/or GR.

Feels like this has been coming up at least twice a week for the past couple of months.

Champion is a great server. It is very slow on weekday, daytime, as can be expected. A bit more happening on the weekends, and a lot of TFs run during that time. I can't speak to any other server's population during the week daytime, as I've only wandered away from Champion on weekends. I've played on Champ, Freedom and Virtue, and I stick with Champ. If you're looking to play on villains, it's very, very low population on Champion, I find.

When I started, I selected Galaxy, and there was a fair amount of players, but nothing compared to Atlas Park. Now, the GC population has dwindled significantly. You see a handful of people, but that's it.

Thank you, Champion.

/This.

I prefer Galaxy.

If you play at odd hours, go to Freedom and join the most popular channels, there will always be people on. The same goes for Virtue.

Now if you wanna team a lot villainside, no matter if you play at strange times or not, I"d begin at Freedom, maybe try Virtue (although I find the difference from Freedom to Virtue noticeable in 'villainy', heroside it's almost the same thing), but to be able to team 100% of the time on Villains, I'm afraid the other servers are kinda low on pop, at least until you make a lot of friends ingame.

Sure you may end up liking another server better, or even getting to be part of a tight community on Justice, Champion, Infinity, etc, but I'd recommend Freedom/Virtue to any beginner, especially redside where some servers are ghost towns. Then when you've got a better grasp of the environment you can try out other servers and see which fits you best, but in my case, I find it important to at least begin playing where you can communicate and get to know a lot of people of all kinds. I ended up staying in Freedom and Virtue because I like sometimes to 'get away' from my usual groups and go team with a bunch of unknown people, or have the ability to form a Task/Strike Force at 4 am in ten minutes. And also because sometimes I feel too lazy to form teams and like to get invites and just go play, if I don't wanna group I just set my flag to red and nobody bothers me (at least that's my experience even on the high pop servers).

Hey now, no hating on lower population servers or Galaxy. As others have said, use a servers chat channels to find teams, make friends, make your own teams, etc. People are out there, but they're all over across different zones, instanced missions, etc.

And Galaxy City is a nice option to have. I switch off between that and Atlas Park... wish I had that option redside... sick of Mercy Island. Heck, I wish that Mercy Island was on par with Galaxy.

Unfortunately, the OP is on a trial account, and therefore can only speak in Local, Team, and Help; they can't start teams, and they can't join SGs.
