Discussion: Paragon Studios Announces City of Sidekicks
I know this was a joke but I think it would be kinda cool if lower leveled heroes coudl mess up a mission and actually spawn an event or mission that needs higher level heroes to come in and fix the problem.
Like Failing to stop teh cahzilok PLague would create an Evet where REally tough Vazilok Zombies appear all over PAragon City and you have to stop them while trying to manually find and dispose of his chemicals.
worst. april fool's joke. ever.
* You start with 100 henchmen who are -20 to your level
* You send out your henchmen to fight heroes, starting with the weakest ones
* You send increasingly more and more powerful minions until you finally deploy your ultimate minions
* After your ultimate minions are defeated, you face the hero yourself (and die)
I wish The Jar was still around.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Did you guys check out DeviantArt yesterday? You could gift llamas to people, and everybody's icon was changed to 1 of 4 'Team Jacob' (from Twilight) pics or 1 or 2 Lady Gaga pics. There were probably more, but I didn't have the time to catalogue them all.
Doesn't beat the Mudkips joke from a couple years back, but it was pretty surprising! |
And it doesn't appear to be anm April Fools joke. The Team XXXX was, but you can still give out llamas. I llama'd quite a bit of the Screen Shots & Fan Art section, including you!!

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
There are conflicting rumors as to whether the speedo is an in-game item or a real "city of sidekicks" swag for this year's HeroCon.
|
I've been told by a reliable informed source inside Paragon Studios that those who pre-order will get the in-game speedo costume part. Unfortunately, males who attend HeroCon will have the actual speedo in the swag bag and are required to wear them during the Costume Contest. Judges will be War Witch, Avatea, EMPulse, and JLove.
They are still debating whether to provide barf bags or blindfolds in female attendees swag bags.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Actually, that's what gave me the idea.

ROFL. I almost pee'd my pants laughing reading this. Best April Fools ever, well done. I didn't know you had comedians on your team because this is first class satire.
My favorite is switching the mouse/key board on the computers, or if someone is away from the computer: printscreen, hide icons, change back ground to the screen shot :-).

Especially if you merely copy/renamed the Norton "Your @#%/You've a virus" screen in there.
I had no guilt doing that to my teachers in high school

Okay it didn't work out so well that time... but who cares. x'D
I knew this was a April fools joke...but I think the Sidekicks have been here for over 5 years now!
Surprised no ones mentioned this one yet

Probably because it has a cool factor that lasts about three seconds. I wish the Devs had spent the time wasted on this to update the websites with info instead.

It's a new tech that's being demo'ed like crazy in industry circles so it's likely relatively little time or effort on the dev part... Mostly I've seen it with Avatar promotions. All their toys used the tech, as did specially marked coke cans, etc. The fundamentals would've been completed just in a routine tech eval, then cleaned up to have a unique and notable trick for the convention. It didn't cost you a single iota of info.
eh, save the drama.

"Ka-pow, more neg-rep for you, Captain Entitlement."
I may be wrong, but I do not believe anyone can make an honest arguement that the CoH website does not need some serious updating. Heck, they don't even list updates on the main website anymore, you have to sift through the forums to find them. What info is listed on the main website is lame duck even.
In the last week alone I tried to get two people to try the game out while talking on the phone with them. Both were actually kinda excited about the game until they saw the CoH website and the COMPLETE lack of information turned them off. They did like the look but as one of them told me:
"The website was pretty and all, but it was kinda like eating a ham and cheese sandwich, without any ham or cheese in it. Just no substance."
I'm not asking for complete powers descriptions and the numbers to match, but how about a general overview of the powers? Updating the enemies might be nice too since that has not been done in several issues. Maybe even zone descriptions and a list of TFs/SFs. As things stand now, I will never send someone to the website hoping to entice them into joining the game. Unfortunately since most of my friends are a long plane flight away, that probably means getting people to join via word of mouth will be impossible too.
As for the new tech thing with using a webcam to change a symbol on paper to a character on your computer screen, well I am sorry but it has about a 3 second coolness factor. I am pretty sure that most people that see this will never try it. Of those that do, I think very few will do it more than once. Maybe I could have gone into more detail, but really, why did I need to.
Put simply, Neg Rep people for being rude or deliberately misinforming others, but not for having an opinion that differs from yours.
Lol that is funny!
But don't we have that already? Isn't the support classes (non-melee) for all practical purposes acting as side kicks? By becoming buff bots, heal bots, and good ole support to the melee classes?
Beyond that, interesting concept
