After almost six years of not-quite exclusivity, the more, the merrier, I say.

$5 pink prestige power slides for everyone.

Edit: I was off by a year...

On Liberty:
Aardwolf - level 50 claws/invulnerability scrapper
Anchor - level 50 level gravity/forcefield controller
Dr. Dusk - level 50 mercenaries/dark miasma mastermind

So were the special helmets but I just got them with my last vet reward.
The old Malleus, Shifter, etc badges were exclusive and got re-awarded.

I suppose it depends how exclusive they want some items to be. I don't have the VIP badge and likely never will, no big deal on my end.

Hopefully the missions have something to with "The Coming Storm" or perhaps even some hints toward Praetoria...

Did you actually read anything other than the part you quoted? Kheldians are quite a bit more complex to get the hang of by their very nature (form shifting, binds, and all that jazz). Then again, I'm not sure why I'm bothered by this, as I doubt I'll ever be on a team like that...

Can I get my cape at character select, then?

I'm actually serious. I've been making similar comments on that particular topic for... *counts fingers* the past five years.

I'm really the wrong guy to speak with when it comes to "exclusive" content. As long as people pay money for it, I don't see the problem. Granted, I don't have this specific one, but I did have the CoV preorder before they made the helmets widely available and I still felt it was the right thing to do. I'd share my veteran rewards, if I could, as well.

Then again, no-one's going to bother at this point, so oh well.

How long are you going to continue to assume that the word "exclusive" by itself has any connotation of permanence to it?
Just because something is described as being exclusive at some point does not imply that it will be exclusive forever.

It was exclusively available to people who paid extra for it. It will remain exclusively available to people who pay extra for it. I don't see the problem.

Sure! I would be saying the same thing if the feature list stated that capes now unlocked at level 5 or something. In fact, if level 20 warrants the epic ATs then I think they should just unlock capes at level 1. Hell, why not at this point?

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I'm in aggreeance with buying things you missed getting for free. If you made it through the certain months as a subscriber, cool. If you get something by going to a con or whatever, cool. but come on, some of us miss out on this stuff for reasons that are beyond our control, we all love this game and would probably do anything the devs, Aeon, tv, or anyone tells us for free stuff for the game we love. A second chance to acquire it with $$$ would just be fair, wouldn't it? I have the determined badge n all, but it would be cool for everyone else if they could toss a couple of bucks up to try the closed beta, costume pieces, travel power, etc.

EDIT: ok, just took a look at the "Qeued" thread. Maybe paying for closed beta wouldn't be worth the $......LOL

On the topic of EATS:

Getting to 20 is no more or less an accomplishment than getting to 50 is. Getting to 50 simply takes longer.

That's actually the whole problem behind making EATs unlockable at 50. I think most of us will agree that CoH is not the kind of game where getting to the highest level ASAP is desirable or even that good. I think most think of CoH more as an "enjoy the ride" game. In fact, with the number of character slots you get and the ease at which you level, the game practically wants you to develop altitis.

Getting to 50 to unlock EATs is only an accomplishment in so far that you suppress the urge to make new toons just to unlock EATs. Hell, I heard about enough long time Veterans that have been playing for far longer than I and still haven't unlocked EATs simply because they love having alternate toons so much.

To reiterate: Getting to 50 is not an accomplishment, and it is not hard work. It simply takes quite a bit of time if you stick to it and it takes half of forever if you have altitis. I mean, let's face it: In the last few years, the game went a long way to make the player-experience as convenient and pleasant as possible, with things like patrol XP, adjustable difficulty settings and the Super-Sidekick system. Lowering the requirements for unlocking EATs is just following this design philosophy and I for my part approve of that.

Some people may say that EATs now lose some of their "meaning" because now you don't have to "work" to unlock it anymore, but I say that the only meaning of those ATs, as well as any other AT, is as a vehicle to having fun, and I'm paying NCSoft just for that purpose, to have fun, and not to work towards some arbitrary number.

No, it was just a paid extra. And it should stay THAT way - they certainly shouldn't make it a vet reward, or give it away free in any way. But having it continue to be available for purchase makes perfect sense.

Wow, wouldnt of expected as low as 20. Am actually surprised they changed it.
Kudos to devs for not staying stuck on tradition.

A first time player who doesnt end up in farms will take a while to get to 20.

IMO a bit higher would of been better - Epics before Auras ^-^

It will save me grinding to 50's on my daughters account to unlock them so thats nice.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

And anybody who's familiar with my history on the forums know I did not like that, either, and still disagree with that choice.

For as long as you continue to be incorrect in your assumption that "Exclusive" with no time limit stated suddendly means that the length of time that it shall remain exclusive is finite.

It was exclusive to the DVD box, which in itself was a limited run product. Theres a difference. Hell, as far as I'm concerned the Heroes Gear Kit should have never happened, but that bridge has been long since burned.

I'm personally -really- excited for Level 20 EATs.

I have Altitis. Bad Altitis.

I only have one level 50. All my other toons are below level 30, and I'm fine with that.

BUT, that locks me out of Kheldian ATs.

Yes, I have a little Rikti Fortunata named Rob that I need to get past level 5. But Kheldians? Sorry, your highest level hero is only Level 27. No Nictus For You.

But now, Hey! I can roll a WS or a PB! It's great!

If you've already gotten both EATs, that's alright.

If you haven't, it's great.

And if they release more EATs? It's fantastic because it means that you'll be able to access them from the get go!

Disagree with this in a massive way. Paid for is paid for. Be it in a DvD pack (which I bought at Big Lots last summer) or in the hero gear pack, which I bought when it was offered.

Tell you what. I've already argued against statements like this for the past 4+ years, and quite frankly my opinion on it is not going to change any more then Uwe Boll is going to admit that he's a no talent hack who's done nothing but create [censored] movies for his entire "career".

So, let's just say we've argued it, me and Lothic have filled the thread with 40+ pages of us going at it tooth and claw, someone was called a "Carebear" and an "Elitist", and call it a day on the topic.

Yet another reason for me to update my crappy graphics card. I waaaaaant uuuuuuuultra moooooooode!

And also... after six years of (somewhat) steady gameplay... and not a 50 in sight. My highest level is 43.

And now. Epic AT's at level 20.

...

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA H

As of December my Gamer Computer has been sitting in an unused corner of my office waiting for me to scrape together the money to get it fixed.... my beautiful... lovely... dual processor... dual graphics card computer... the one I can... <wince>... I mean COULD dual box two characters at the highest level graphics with no slow-down whatsoever...

Not like this one...

This one is so bad that I get lag when my Dark Armor Stalker switches on hide and makes the mistake of trying to move... even without sprint... just walking makes it look like a series of still-photos...

::sighs::

Ultra Mode, huh? Crap... where'd I put my wallet?

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

As it's been said again and again in this thread, I just have to agree:
Reaching level 50 doesn't take hard work, just time and/or friends. I have multiple accounts, and over 100 characters on just one server. I like making new characters. That's fun for me. This change means more fun for me, and that makes me happy.

I always felt that Epic Archetypes should be unlocked by completing a Strike/Task Force.

ie: You break a non-descript (insert:Archetype_name_here) out of (insert:complex_prison-type_enemy-filled_base_here) and as a reward, you get the option to play as that Archetype.

To add to the whole "rewards for hard work" thing, they could even potentially make said Task/Strike Force solo-only.

Actually, the Devs have stated several times that any future EATs will not be unlocked by attaining a specific level.

Dr. Todt's theme.
