I don't read the boards, sorry I missed the comment about global anniversary badges; how would that be different than vet badges on a toon by toon basis, comparing creation date to get it automatically without having to log in?
Well, going by the badge text, the anniversary badges are more for the actual participation in the 'celebration' of CoH's anniversary rather than just how long your account has been active.
Basically, the badge is "were you there or not". The debate is that if it should be based on if "you the character" were there, or "you the player" were there.
I think that's what I was trying to ask, in my fuddled way.
The vet badges indicate player longevity. Anniversary badges indicate toon longevity.
I can see granting the badge to a toon that existed before the anniversary date, but the player didn't log them for some reason, but I can't see giving all toons the badges, if they weren't that old (i.e the toon I created last month should not get the second anniversary badge just cause I've played that long, it didn't exist way back when).
The two badges sort of overlap, but, if they're tracking player longevity and toon longevity, then that difference should stay in place.
Or get rid of the anniversary badges altogether and just use vet badges. Or tie vet rewards to the toon, not the account.

It has only been in the last year that the tech has arrived to award a badge globally from a single character's actions. The problem, it seems, is that they have to figure out a way to bridge the two awarding mechanisms (Anniversary badges award one way, Global AE badges award another).

Well, as of an hour ago, my main badge collector is at 768 badges. Vet badges over 60 months, Bug Hunter, and Passport not collected.
The only thing I've yet to try to get blue side is to see if the Master of Lady Gray is actually live.

and im interested to see if thats true too, although they would have announced it in the patch notes like they did for i16, i16 patch notes explicitly state there were master badges in it so im guessing that MoLGTF is not live *yet* but may be so in the future (like the 1000 and 1250 badge milestone badges)

Master-Blade was at 687 before i17 and joined the 700 club last night just shortly before joining the 750 club as well. He's currently at 758 (766 if you include his 1-8 Times the Victor).
