I was doing no such thing (but I do understand how it could come across that way). It just annoyed me that Snow was implying that nobody else has 700 badges other than Beef Cake.

I'm not trying to be a show-off or a braggart, but I did work hard for my collection and I am proud of where it stands today.

There's definitely not, unfortunately. But they've sold them at the last two HeroCons, and as Master-Blade said, they were sold at PAX East a few weeks ago (which I didn't know).

I think they sell for $20 or $25, and if memory serves, they come with a code that gives: a month of game time, the V.I.P./Destined One badge, the special "Four Winds" transparent cape, and the box also contains some cool physical swag like a (n outdated) map of Paragon City, a miniature PvP comic book with a series of strips that Scott Kurtz wrote about the game, and a Statesman HeroClix figure. (I bought one back when CoV was in beta, though, so I'm not 100% sure about it including game time.)

Well, it's $10 on the NCSoft store, and it comes with the Jump Jet, Pocket D Teleporter and the very stylish Justice and Sinister costume sets. I still would have bought the pack even if it didn't come with a badge.

I seldom read sigs or the leader boards on either Badge Hunter or City Info Terminal.

Haven't played actively since late November early December. Still sitting at 698, I think I have another vet badge coming on 21 April, that's 699. Don't think I can do anything else.

Issue 17 just hit open beta, and barring any huge problems, should be going live by the end of the month (or very early May at the latest).

Snow Globe has already compiled a guide detailing the additional badges being added... I think I counted 54 new Hero-side badges? Regardless, you shouldn't have any trouble hitting 700 in the next couple weeks, and you'll quite possibly be able to reach 750 before Going Rogue is released.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...wpost&t=217634

(Just recounted, there are 59 counting the new 500 and 750 badges badges. Mushroom mushroom. )

... (Recounted again, because I forgot the 13 zone accolade badges... there are 72 new Hero badges!)

With just the explores, and missing the Nigh Invulnerable badge, I was able to hit 750 with just the new explores and explore accolades. I didn't even have to do the new missions or the new version of the Positron's TF.

With all the badges that are being added, I'd like to see them revisit the Gladiator badges that are essentially defeat badges:

MU Guardian gladiator badge: kill 100 Mu Guardians
Mob Specialist: kill 100 Prisoner Bosses
Blue Ink Man: kill 125 Blue Ink Men (only the Blue count)
Steel Strongman (or was it Swift Steel?): for killing 300 Tsoo Ancestors Spirits
plus any other gladiator badges that I forgot to mention.

Shouldn't these badges become linked to current defeat badges or just made into a defeat badge that AWARDS the Gladiator badge?

We have the Warden badge for defeating 500 prisoners, so why not link the gladiator badge to that? Or make an actual defeat badge for the prisoner bosses that awards the gladiator badge? This would make it like the two badges for the Skulls.

300 Tsoo Ancestor Spirits for a gladiator badge.... shouldn't this be made into a defeat badge that awards the gladiator badge or else link it to something like maybe the defeat badge for killing Tsoo sorcerors.

100 Mu Guardians: again, how about an actual defeat badge for them or else link to another badge?

I'd really they rather just: a) add a badge counter to the Gladiator badger like every other defeat gets (Defeat x more Mu Guardians to earn this badge.), and b) allow you to click on them to set your title, rather than going through the /settitle command.

If part b requires that they rename the badges because they still have some weird revulsion to people running around with "Tank Smasher" or "Longbow Warden" under their name, then so be it. (Personally, I'd love to see "Tank Smasher" become "Tank Smasher Smasher," although my Freakshow-themed SS/Inv Brute would be a little ticked. :P)

I'd be happy with tracking meters for those gladiator badges as well, but I think Posi a long time ago made it clear that wasn't going to happen. So the next alternative would be to link them to other defeat badges.

Posi's not in charge anymore. Oh WAAAARWIIIIIITCH???

Anyway, as much as I love me some badges (isn't it obvious by now?), I don't really see a point in bloating the system with that many double-badges. I'm not going to complain if they do it, but I don't see why they would.

I still think it's BS that we had almost 100 Badges taken out, heh, I still don't see how it would've solved the AE Baby Problem.

We're basically up to the normal badge amount of last year. Heck, we would've been in the 850 Badge Range if it wasn't for that big middle finger from Posi.

But other than that, I greatly look forward to I17 and all of the new Badges to get. ^_^

Not to beat the dead horse too much Robo, but some of the AE badges that were yanked had some rather silly requirements. 50,000 custom kills in TEST mode? Uhm......No.

while i also disliked how many badges they removed, i do however agree that a few of them did need to be removed (like the dev choice and hall of fame badges and the badges forcing you to run up to 50 of each of those)

I agree with all three of you. They kept about 25 badges and axed the rest. I think it should have been the other way around. There were only a couple dozen badges that were ridiculous.

Agreed, I wouldn't have minded a few of the top ones taken out like 50k Test Kills. But for me, I had already gotten most of them during finals and that time also could've spent working on getting the day job badges as well.

I also agree the "Grand MA badge purge" was a major overreaction on the Devs' part.
Instead of fixing 15-20 badges they just ham-fistedly axed like 80 of them out of the game.
It was annoying (epsecially since my main badger had around 730 badges before that) but that's sort of water under the bridge at this point.

I'm actually more concerned about the fate of the Power Liberator/Master Thief badge. Castle has been dropping vague hints lately they might be doing something about adding features to the SG mission computers. I'm hoping they finally decided to dust off the Cathedral of Pain trial and retool it into something that will finally work. I'm also hoping they'll just give up on the whole Item of Power PvP raid silliness and reassign the badge to something that we can earn again. Frankly I was one of those people who choose not to spend money to server-hop just to take advantage of an exploit an SG on a different server used to keep an Item of Power they shouldn't have had to get that badge years ago. Talk about a screwed-up legacy for a badge...

I reached 700 on my hero badger a couple weeks ago with the last day job I needed.

Some of the AE badges should never have been inputted in the first place.

Virtual Tickets: pointless. Virtual tickets were no tickets at all.
Test Kills, especially 50,000. A bit of an overkill.

The requirements of some of the others could have been tweaked without removing them.

I'd rather at this point see them reassign Power Liberator/Master Thief to a new mini arc that rewards the badge at the end. A story arc that requires your character to perform missions that result in you stealing a vital object or artifact.
