Optimal Solo Posi Build
For my Posi toons, I use Hasten and then Super Speed, then proc Sprint or SS with Stealth. Allows you to speed the missions.
As far as the type of scrapper, I'd imagine a /SD.
Not SD. One Ruin Mage earthquake and your entire secondary goes poof, you don't get to use the star power of the set, Shield Charge, and Vahz slows will un-perma your mez protection. And while I haven't tried, after making an exemplar build for my SR I doubt it'd be possible to softcap at level 15 with only 33 levels of powers and slots.
Fire has stackable toxic res in its heal and a damage aura, so I might consider that.

Hey Scrappers:
I'm wondering what the forum folks think would be an "optimal" scrapper build for Solo Posi Runs. Of course there are parameters: 1) I want to cap at level 33 for the Midlevel Market project if possible. 2) Front load as many slots in the Powers level 1-20. 3) Thinking some type of Resistance-based Armor though Regen might work cuz you can heal because attack chain will have gaps. 4) Anything in the toolbox to handle the Toxic Zombie Vomit? 5) Fire seems nice due the PBAoE at 18 but am open to ideas. Sword(s) for stacking parry maybe. 6) IO's are fine, thinking lvl 18 for set bonus' or frankenslotting options. I've been running a Fire/Willpower but he seems a bit fragile so far. Thanks in advance. |

If I were to make a Posi runner, I'd go Kat/Regen not Fire Melee. Divine Avalanche + heals = really tough to kill and katana has good offensive output even at Posi levels.
Edit: I'm fairly sure that reconstitution has toxic resistance in it.
Im currently lvl'n up a kat/wp and fire/rgn, both at lvl 31 that lvl'd approx the same time together.
Rttc when saturated gives as much +regen as IH+DP basically.
I think at lvl 20 kat/wp would be the best way to go.
My favorite combo is Faceplant/DebtCap with the TeamWipe Ancillary
|
Noght is jealous because my DM/Regen didn't die but his kept face planting.

Willpower can't handle the burst damage waiting for all the zombies to clump. I face planted quite a bit throughout the solo run.
My thought is Fire/Regen. Reconstruction had 15% toxic resist and Resiliance has about 6% toxic resist unslotted. I figure if you drop all your slots in the 1-20 powers you can 6 slott Recon/DP and 3 attacks including FSC.
Thoughts?
Can Dark Armor handle the Toxic Wave? I'm not sure you can fit everything in that you need by 20 with Dark Armor.

kat/fire. healin flames, divine avalanche, s/l resists for everything else.
I went Claw/WP. Bother are solid early sets. Claws is low on end and quick, so you don't *need* hasten, especially if you manage good slotting to get a minor recharge bonus or two. WP gets QR at 20, just in time for Posi with the new exemp rules, as well as Fast Healing, HPT, and RttC, so you don't need Fitness pool. And if you have Ninja Run, you really don't have to take any pool powers at all early on, making more room for attacks and secondary powers, and their slotting. And don't forget the amazing power that is Focus!
As for IO slotting, I wouldn't really focus on have specific set bonuses available for Posi, except for maybe +HP/Regen to go with the fact that you have pretty low values at that level. After that, just Frankenslot. Aim for about 25% acc and 15-20% end/rech redux, and get your damage as high as you can. Since the most you'll fight is +1, Follow up with a touch of acc is more than enough to keep your hits at 95% chance. QR being super stamina and claws already having reduced endurance means you shouldn't have any end issues at all. A touch of recharge should be all you need to get a decent ST chain going, what with all the power options you can have by not having to go for fitness or travel powers. And Spin is just awesome AoE damage.

Purpled kat/regen or kat/fire
I would definately say Claws/ as the primary. You get your optimal ST chain (with the new zemp rules), good AoE (Spin). I would think Claw/WP would be optimal with the ST chain, no need for fitness (with QR @ 20) leaving room for SS + stealth or stealth proc for stealthing missions.
Here is an example of something I think might work (and be cheap).
I stopped at lvl 20 however any power choices after won't be of effect and you can add slots to flavor.

Come on I21!!!
Sure, the devs are supposed to listen to their customers, mister business 101 out there. And if I decide to start suggesting that the devs change the game from being about superheroes and supervillains to being about clowns that is my right as well, and technically Paragon Studios is supposed to pay attention to me. But I hope strongly that they assume a meth-head somehow managed to hack into my forum account and make paper airplanes out of my posts, because I hope they recognize stupid when they see it. I assume they will recognize futile just as accurately.

My Fire/Regen was a beast on his posi run. I didn't solo it, but I probably could with very little difficulty.
No Stealth, but a low level +Stealth IO plus Ninja Run (just to get him out of agro range faster) should work for that.

I've soloed posi with my kat/regen with no IO's. So I know it can be done. With IO's I would get the clerity stealth IO to make it a lot quicker.
Level 33 is the absolute worst level to stop at for posi, but I suppose for the market project you have to.
Because of the way exemping affects IOs, a 33 has the enhancements scaled down by the same amount as a 50, and has less slots and the IOs available have lower bonuses.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Exempl...n_Enhancements for details
I'd float Kat/SR as a possibility, you can probably cap melee def with only one application of DA, and (a trick you also use on /SD), you overslot your click mez protection with 4 or 5 SOs as I believe the exemping bites before ED. Also overslot your defences for defence for the same reason.
I use a perma 17 blaster with Lvl 20 SOs to duo posi, and superspeed plus a -KB IO and an unbounded leap +stealth in sprint are the key IOs.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
I've used the base empowerment buff for stealth instead of dropping cash for a Stealth IO.
I had great success running Posi with a Kat/WP (which a attributed DA to keeping me alive more than WP) and also a Fire/Shield with build up early on to make FSC a killer.
Don't I know you???

I love this topic. I might roll up a posi runner now because it sounds like fun.
Also, it's not another EM/SD/Blaze build post
Here's what I drummed up for the Posi build. Some things to keep in mind: Built to lead the Posi (Stealth/TPer).
Any suggestions to improve?

Personally (just my experience from a few solo-runs) I would drop either SotW or GC and go for Flashing Steel. You'll want enough AOE damage, groups consist of 4-5 enemies even when just set for 2 people and they can hit hard. This means you have to kill them fast, and I don't see how three single target attacks + The Lotus Drops will do that (feel free to prove me wrong though). Flashing Steel recharges almost as fast as SotW and can hit quite a few enemies, with just a bit of pulling or knowing which enemy to attack first. This will speed things up a lot and keep you alive longer.
Also, I'm not really sure why you have stopped building at lvl20. To my knowledge that's not a level to stay at for good rolls. If you level up a bit higher, you can slot your powers (the <lvl20 ones) up more. The slots will stay when you're exemped to 20.
I stopped at 20 because that was the limit of the Posi exemp. The toon will level beyond it, but for the purpose of the TF, I wanted to show what I would have at my disposal and get some build advice. If you mean the IOs, well, that's because I finally figured out how to set the default level and didn't change it back.
I think you have a great point regarding the attack. Thanks!
