  1. Here is what my main, also ma/sr, looks like. I focused more on HP/regen (2058 hp) as opposed to resist. Helps a ton. Also took the melee hybrid, with it on my regen shoots way up when surrounded. I do'nt have hasten because I got tired of the fire hands, but guess thats changing. Mine has a little gap in the "best" chain, but I do'nt prefer that, especially with new proc, I use EC then CAK for ST or EC then DT for AOE. CAK has a crazy chance to crit, and EC is pretty high as well. I don't see how the best attack chain doesn't use EC, but I guess numbers tests don't lie. I also just enjoy the attack. Also, keeps me from having to use hasten and worry about the end crash from it. I hear the next scrapper ATO set is awesome as well. Probably some changes to be made to my build when it comes out, but hopefully can just plop it over the set of crushing impacts in EC and be done.

    Ive found one interupt reduction to be plenty, i can usually get it inbetween some dots also, depending on the dot.

  2. Can antagonize miss in pve? If so maybe an acc or an acc/rech. While on tanks/brutes I can usually have room to put a set of the taunt powers in it, but I didn't have the room on this build. Like someone said, with my base recharge it is up often enough. I thought it only missed in pvp.
  3. Well, 5 days 133 views and no comments. Must be fine.

    I have the build in game now, minus the glad+3def, ran out of money. It is a lot of fun, very survivable, and the damage is acutally higher than i though, as long as inner light is up, which is almost perma. I only have t1 spiritual at this point, t4 will perma hasten/lightform/inner light. Right now there is a little pause between them.

    My endurance is awful though. I'm hoping ageless will be enough to solve this problem. When not keeping light form up , and the crash, it isn't as bad, but it is still pretty bad.

    Will ageless be enough to fix this?

    Also, really no build advice? I'm considering getting rid of the first ranged attack in favor of one of the aoe blasts, probably the targeted aoe, although I won't really want the KB. As it is now, I have very little.

  6. Here is what I did. I stay at range and aoe/st from ranged with cones. Only melee for drain psyche. Ranged is at softcap, lil higher with enhanced blaster IOs and incarnates. Has hibernate for bad times.

  7. Hello yall,

    Let me preface this with the fact that I've been away from CoH for 6-8 months. Wondering what Hybrid to take, have it unlocked and enough stuff laying around from before my absense to get to at least t3. Seems like melee is a no brainer, but the damage one, or even the support ones seem usefull, especially in trials.

    Also, the scrapper specific IO set wasn't out, so thinking about a good place to put it, still unsure how boosting it works (sorry forgot name already, have one of the items, but one only atm).

    Below is my build atm. Notes would be appreciated, but really just looking for the hybrid to complement it. I'm thinking the melee right side one, but I'm here for suggestions.

    Thanks man, thats the help I needed. I always forget about pulverizing fisticuffs. Your end recov/use is a little better than mine also. I'm not sure if i'll need to run focused accuraccy or not, although my acc bonuses suck so i might. but it looks like i'll have the end to do it, especially on trials where there is usually a sb or soemthing around.

    Beam Rifle/what?

    I also rolled a beam/traps corr. It is almost lvl 25 and is really fun so far. I've been taking all the blasts just to be able to try them out. Seems like one of the first two will need to go when piercing hits, but maybe not with the high recharge.

    Really wish mids would update, would like to start messing around with builds already. But I will probably skip most PL action and play TFs for the commander accolade, as ive never played traps, and of course beam is new to everyone.

    Also, 4 hour downtime, on a saturday afternoon??? you gotta be kidding me.

  13. I like OwtS, as it can probably get you hp cap if your slotted/accoladed for it, as well as buffs resist on a mostly def set. I enjoy the heck out of it. GC and AD (with hami) will get the DDR up into 85-90% which is awesome. I usually skip slash and confront and parry, although Im working on a new build with parry to help in new trials to get over the 59% melee for trials, but we'll see.

    Musings on SR

    LOL at SR is the poor mans def set.


    As said, scaling resist helps a ton, as does 20% recharge (almost 3 LOTG worth).

    The only thing I could say about SR vs SD is that SD has a better T9, it adds stuff that the rest of the powerset doesn't let you get, and is up mroe with less of a crash.

    SR seems like the "I want my cake and eat it too" set, in that it is soooooooo easy to softcap, and have 95% DDR, that you can slot even your def sets for hp/regen/recharge to get the ultimate chains for your primary. My MA/SR has 320ish regen, 1800ish HP and softcapped def, 180 recharge, can take ranged and aoe attacks from PPPs, can take muscle and not worry about it most times.

    I'm unsure if SD's resists vs SRs passive resist, over time, wouldn't be about the same. Seems SD is better front end (full health) and SR's is better back end (low health) and both sets don't get hit that much.

    SR is my favorite secondary for scraps because it lets you focus on your primary, and doesn't add anything to your look unless you want it to.

    Why bother fixing one thing with a bugged fix? I would do something right or not at all, instead of "fixing" something with a bugged solution.......

  16. MA is awesome now, and for more than just really cool animations.

    It lacks AOE, but not really nowadays. Using EC then DT for a highly increased chance of crit is awesome when it comes (lvl 32). And now you can dip into APP and PPP for fireball or ball lighting. And being SR its easy to softcap and have powers left to get them and still have slots left.

    SR is power heavy, but not really slot heavy at all. I slot just enough to get 95% DDR. My newest build on my main, MA/SR, uses weave, steadfast and glad procs, and hits 45% without any set bonuses, which allowed me to focus on recharge and hp and other bonuses. You could easily take CJ and not have to worry about the expensive glad proc, but my guy is a flier and doesn't have the jump pool.

    What other set can you softcap without having to slot mako's bit, or touch of death, etc? And have full DDR all the time? I know some /shield builds can get close though but requires tons of recharge and few hami Os.


    To the OP, MA/SR is awesome fun. If I made it through it before IOs, you should be fine now. Get the steadfast proc ASAP and throw in tough when you take tough. And use tough, it helps some when you get hit. I run a crazy attack chain, both ST and AOE chains, and have ageless, which solves all end problems. I use barrier for Lambda, but ageless the rest of the time. If you go barrier, you can include the 5% or whatever the perma version gets you to add to ease of softcap, but I just use it for icing on the cake.

    I also used air superiority back in the day, but now dont as I can take fly with one power.

    With the changes to Cobra strike, I find it very hard to believe your having doubts about MA's damage potential. Even before that, you could have a really good attack chain at lvl 8. SR is a little squishy low lvl, but really only against groups with a lot of AOEs.

    Regardless of primary and secondary, I always throw an end reduction into every attack while leveling up. If its a choice of an end redux in an attack or toggle, go attack and do toggle later. One end redux SO in a toggle is plenty until you do IOs.
  17. Not to thread jack, but using scorpion shield, can you get ranged and s/l to cap? I've got a build I'm working on and I got ranged caped easily enough, but couldn't get s/l above 34 (which is a small purple away from cap). Just wondering. Although, as others pointed out, I'm probably going for force mastery for thematic reasons, although being able to softcap s/l and ranged would make me very happy.
  18. I've taken a brief look at the build and will have to look further. Looks like your pretty much hitting everything you've set out for it would seem. I've posted my ma/sr build that I just respec'd into for reference. Little higher regen and hp, although its just barely at 45% def. He has barrier most of the time but uses ageless when doing non trial stuff and spamming ball lighting and dt all over the place. You can use it for reference I guess as far as slotting sets and such if you would like.

    1. 45% is enough for 99% of content I've found. New trials, of course, you need some more, but thats what barrier and 15-23 other people are for. I have recently respec'd back into elude in anticipation of it coming in handy in the future.

    2. I got it without boxing (or 1 sec downtime, which is enough when you have PB on auto already, IMO) and still went muscle alpha. Should be able to get purple sets into Katana easier than MA without having to dip into others, or take LBE and 5 slot it.

    3. I got some good numbers with slotting numina and lotg sets a bunch, see build below.

    4. Think your really stuck with whatever you slot tough with, unless you go nerva i think which only helps it a little bit. There are a few sets that add 1% or so, but I wouldn't fool with them. I like aid self to help when hit, and barrier also helps a lot as well.

    5. Slotting some of the attacks more might help, I hate 6 slotted eradication, and 4 slotting mako I don't much like, especially since 6 slots gives you def bonus as well. I don't really slot for damage bonuses, but love them when I can get them. Most are pretty low if you ask me. Increasing build up's recharge is a good way to increase this as well though. 6 slotting Gaussian's is an awesome way to get this done, as well as 2.5% to all your defense. I pretty much consider this mandatory on any sr or sd builds i make, as well as some others. Its damn near as good as the glad unique, arguably, but definatly a lot cheaper.

    6. I like diamagnetic on my ma/sr for the tohit debuff. I also have reactive when needed though, or when tohit debuff isn't needed. I took barrier but have ageless and rebirth for more options. Ion's are all about the same, but void would help with the -damage, although I went pyrionic for the stuns to stack with MA, but use Ionic atm as i like it more animation wise, but I switch.

    To specify, I'm still getting power lag, and have had frame rate lag increase over the last few weeks, including today and yesterday on BAFs and Lambda (Lam not as bad though in either case). My comp can more than handle CoH, and usually never lags even during Hamis, and only slightly during RWZ raids. The issue isn't my computer's capacity. Lag does seem worse at high population times, which means the best time to run trials is when nobody is on, when its the hardest to get one going. Catch 22 I know, but that seems like the case. Everyone I play with consistently has seen the same lag (power and frame rate) during BAFs, escapees and AV fight, which is essentially the whole trial anyways really.

    I've tried sending petitions and you have said to post here, so here goes.


    The power lag is awful. With i20, it started during the escapee part of the BAF. Since the updates, it has spread to the rest of the game. Without exception. The worst times I've seen are during Hami raids, and CoPs, but its not limited to that, as its been bad on STFs lately and others.

    Hami, which for the server and groups I usually run, takes less than 20 minutes after forming for a non-evac run. It took two hours sunday night. I was scrapping and I could only get an attack in every 7-10 seconds, sometimes worse. SG mates ran two CoPs on monday and they said it was the same.

    It has become a trend, on freedom, for people to run 16 man BAFs, supposedly to reduce lag and/or increase rewards. I've been on a couple and haven't noticed any considerable difference, although it would be awesome if a red name dispelled this rumor, or hell, even acknowledged that it was true for that matter. This would either kill 16 man BAFs or give them a reason to form.

    I, personally, will not be running any Hami's or CoPs until there is a good resolution. I am not alone on this either.

    It took a week or two to fix Ion Judgement's damage, because it was overpowered. The power lag was an issue at i20 launch, and has only gotten worse sense then, with no apparent resolution that I can see. This really reflects poorly about the priorites of the devs.

    At least an attempt to fix, or acknowledgement that it sucks and your working on it, would be awesome at this point. Its really getting old. With every new issue, there are bugs, but I can't remember it being this bad that you can't even use your powers.

  24. Here is round 4.

    Dropped a slot from gloom and tough, 4 slotted tough with reactives. I tried slotting more into EA, but the difference was pretty slight. Its at perma double now. The reactive armors cap me without EA which is a nice side effect also. Changed shadow punch to 5 CI for the recharge bonus. Two slotted hibernate just for the regen bonus (was at 292 and wanted 300, hit 304). I tried the membrane instead of the perf shifter end/recharge, and the difference here isn't worth the 200-400 mill in this instance for me.
