NEW Power Sets!
Yep, that list pretty much covers all the things we've asked for before and been told that they engine can't handle. Except water-based powers. Energy blast was supposedly "water blast" once during or before beta but it got changed.

2. I assume you mean as a new Control set? This could be intriguing... but is a bit too specific to be a really good set, depending on how one interprets this suggestion of course.
3. Not gonna happen. Basically the Devs have said that in order to make a water set they are pleased with... the minimum specs of the game would have to go up, and that would alienate current players.
4. As a melee set? I don't see how this would work in any way that wouldn't look stupid. Plus, Standard Code Rant.
5. Again... what does this mean exactly? Is this a debuff set? An armor set? And if either, what would it do?
6. I am vehemently opposed to "mounts" in this game. Notably, for all the reasons listed in Bill's Cut-and-Paste response (I am sure if this thread lasts long enough, someone will dig it up).

Not every place has roads, or even makes sense for "off roading." Go look at Founder's Falls. Go look at Crey's Folley. Or Eden. Try to get to the north islands in Talos. What, do you have a kubelwagen? Look at the Pit in Sharkshead. Try to use your travel power (car) to get up to some of the doorways in high caves. Cars and motorcycles would be more like Superspeed - horizontal movement, period. And look - I'll be blunt - flat out *stupid* tied with, say, Combat Jumping or Superjump. 3. Combat. You get ambushed on the way. How do you fight? Just have your powers blast out of the rolled up windows? How do you buff or debuff? EVERY power would need a new animation. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Then you want people with motorcycles instead of cars. Redo ALL the animations AGAIN. And they still wouldn't make sense - how do you use Footstomp in a car? Or Stalagmites? 4. Customizing. Yeah, it would come up. Not everyone would want a sports car, or a mid-70s Buick boat, or an exotic, or a minivan, or whatever else. 5. Making "sense." This was touched on in terrain - how do you get across water? How about the Shadow Shard? And if you want downright ridiculous looking, go do the heroside 25-34 Respec. Look at the Sky Skiffs inside of rooms or the reactor room. It makes no sense and looks *ridiculous.* Something that, yes, the devs try to avoid. That's just a quick overview of some of the issues with having vehicles as a travel power. |
Here's my wishlist for new powersets:
Scrappers, brutes, tanks, and stalkers- Polearms (Attack), quarterstaff (Attack), Psionic weapons (Attack), Whip (Attack, I had given up hope but Demon summoning set renews it), Feral instinct (armor), Plant Armor (Armor), Illusionary defenses (Armor, stalkers only).
Blasters and corruptors- Explosives/demolitions (attack, the real problem is trying to justify how an explosion would NOT be an AoE).
Defenders and corruptors- Teamwork (Buff/debuff, This is a pipe dream since we already have leadership pool, though it might be nice to have another set that could work for natural origin that works on a similar idea)
Controllers and Doms- Tactical control (control, things like grenades and so forth, a nice tech/natural control set.), Shadow control (Control)
Master Minds- Battle Servants (Henchmen set, they make your tea, clean your house, and crush your enemies, what's not to love?), Toys (Henchmen set, watch the sudden outcry for the ability to make more convincing children), PUG (Henchmen set, not serious)
To all villainous ATs- Fire elemental patron powers and Nictus Patron powers.
To Kheldian ATs- Umbral Mastery (Ancillary) and Luminous Mastery (Ancillary)
Proliferation wishlist:
To stalkers- Fiery melee (Assassin's Inferno!) and Ice melee (Assassin's Frost!)
To Scrappers- Ice Melee, Ninjutsu, energy aura, Electrical Mastery (Ancillary)
To Tanks- Super Reflexes, Broadsword, Katana, Martial Arts, Claws, energy aura. Electrical mastery (Ancillary)
To Brutes- Regeneration, broadsword, katana, martial arts.

As far as new sets goes, let's see...
Polearm melee.
Energy Blade melee.
Two-Handed hammer melee.
Dual Handguns Epic.
Forcefields defence set using graphics like the existing Forcefields.
A Gravity Blast set, a sort of cross between Gravity Control and Forcefields, but it's a Blast set.
Radiation melee set, possibly a Radiation defence set to go with it.
Some kind of Radiation manipulation set, while we're at it.
Archery epics of some kind.
A Light blast/manipulation/melee/defence set, possibly more.
Gadgets control set of some sort. We already have enough powers to put one together, in fact.
As far as proliferation goes, I am sad and disappointed that I've seen Broadsword asked for Tankers, but not Battle Axe and War Mace for Scrappers. Come on, guys!

The first thing I'd like to see is more basic powerset proliferation. The low hanging fruit. Axes and ice melee for scrappers, that kind of thing.
The next thing I'd like to see is powerset theme proliferation. This isn't as easy because they'd need to create or seriously revamp powersets, but I'd still like to see it. A Dark primary for controllers, an electric primary for defenders, stuff like that.
As for totally new powersets, I'm sure the devs have enough ideas already to choke a cow. I'd like a scrapper with dual tonfa, or a quarterstaff. A mastermind who can summon wild animals. Maybe the new ultra mode will make a real water set possible (imagine Katara from the Airbender cartoon).
I'd also like power customization to be extended so we can choose animations. Maybe I want all of my fire powers to come out of my face using the animations from sonic powers. Stuff like that.
I don't think the devs are going to be sitting around twiddling their thumbs wondering, "What's left to do?" any time soon.

I'd also like them to add new pool powers. To vary things up a bit.
- Scrapper - just runs off in a random direction and dies every time you summon him.
- Blaster - Follows you and spams Energy Torrent and Thunder Clap on everything.
- Controller - Instantly unsummons itself unless you're farming a Portal mission.
- Defender - Follows you and just uses Healing Aura every two seconds. You can see in the pet's powers window that it has Fortitude and Adrenaline Boost, but it never seems to use these.
- Stalker - Just runs off in a random direction and disappears. If you give it any orders, it just responds, 'scouting.'
- Tank - Just stands in one spot and responds to every order with 'sb plz.'
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Definitely agree on seeing some polearm/staff power sets.
With the explosive/demolitions powerset idea, you can mix up AoE with explosives that do cone damage. For example, the Claymore mine in real life.
The very idea, though, sounds like it'd turn a Blaster into a very different animal. Hell, as an AR/Dev, I already find myself acting pretty strategically, setting up ambushes and the like ... A purely explosives/munitions based powerset could turn that up to eleven.
Definitely agree on the idea for new Mastermind henchmen. Battle maids and butlers. What's not to love? The idea for killer toys would be great, too.
Teamwork and Tactical Control could make great natural powersets for Controllers/Dominators and Defenders/Corrupters.
Scythe Melee for Stalkers. Just imagine how many Grim Reapers would be running around.
Pirate Summoning for Masterminds. There just isn't enough love for pirates in this game IMO.
Dual Axes for Tanks, Brutes, Scrappers and maybe Stalkers.
Comedic Control for Doms and Controllers. It would be a good Joker-like powerset. Cream pie in the face for hold, Silly String for an Immobilize, extending boxing glove for a stun, laughing gas for AoE hold, etc.
And, of course, Comedic Assault for Doms. This set would include some of the close ranged comedy routines like the eye poink (minor smashing damage, -accuracy), joy buzzer, acid flower (moderate Toxic damage, -res), Bananna peels (targeted AoE, slow, chance for knockdown every few seconds), and maybe some fish melee in there too.
Shield Melee for everyone that can currently use a Shield.
Proliferation:
Brutes: Ice Melee, Ice Armor
Tanks: Claws
Scrappers: War Mace, Battle Axe
Stalkers: War Mace, Battle Axe, Ice Melee

However, I do agree with Polearm melee (you could mix it with spears and your two-handed hammer idea) and Gadgets as a primary control power. I like it when the origin of a toon makes sense with its powers and AT and a Natural human controller would make more sense with a Gadgets control power.
I think they said the reason they didn't have a water based power set was that it was hard to make it look good - but maybe with the new graphics it might be easier to do?

With his twin handgun idea, you could take a Blaster like me (AR/Dev) and have twin handgun powers on top of that, for added flavor and diversity with weapons.
I actually like the idea of having some more Patron Powers that are based on current power sets ... I don't see it as redundant at all, save for heroes/villains who have the powers as a main/secondary power set.
It always amazes me how others feel the need to invalidate other's opinions just because they don't follow THEIR "rules". I stick by my comments and don't much care if they're too vague for some people. I've gotten my point across, as intended.

Pagan Priest - L50 Dark/Dark Defender
A Pogo Stick power pool.
Tier 1: Head Bounce: Minor damage; 10% chance disorient. You bounce on the head of your opponent with your pogo stick.
Tier 2: Pogo Bounce: Toggle; +jump height, +jump speed. You use your pogo stick to get a bit more height in your bouncing. (Basically combat jumping with a bigger bonus but no air control, and it comes with an awesome bouncing on a pogo stick animation)
Tier 3: Super Bounce: Toggle; +jump height/speed. You use your spiffy new rocket powered pogo stick to bounce like crazy. (Basically Super Jump with more height and less speed)
Tier 4: Bouncing Addict Toggle; +res (sleep, stun, knockback.) You've become so accustomed to bouncing on your pogo stick that you've gained impeccable balance and overactive adrenaline glands.
This started off as a joke, but by the time I was done writing it it started to sound kinda awesome.
Ok, the ones I'd like to see:
Grenade Control: Basically a control set with a similar theme to Devices and Traps. I'd go with Grenades as the basic theme since I think that works well but there are a lot of ways to do this.
Martial Arts based Manipulation set: This one is pretty popular but basically a manipulation set with some of the kicks from Martial Arts as its melee powers. Not sure how to fill in the rest of the set, personally I like filling it in with Trick Arrow powers since to me it seems like a natural pairing but that idea was unpopular when I proposed it in the suggestion forum.
Trick Arrow based Manipulation set: I'd like to see more debuff based manipulation sets (currently Ice Manipulation is the only one that really focuses on debuff) and Trick Arrow seems a logical framework to build on. I'm not sure where to fill up the rest of the set from, my personal preference is Martial Arts but as I mentioned above it's an unpopular view.
Dark Manipulation: Hopefully the devs intend to eventually port Dark Blast to Blasters (with, I suspect, some changes to make it more suitable for Blasters). At that time it would be nice to make a Dark Manipulation set to go with it. I'd expect that this would end up as a rather control/debuff heavy set along the lines of Ice Manipulation.
Swashbuckler Assault: Basically an assault set where you wield a sword in one hand and a pistol in the other (so both out at the same time, no redraw). The pistol powers would be mostly single target attacks while the sword attacks would be similar to either Dual Blade or Broadsword powers (obviously, they'd all have to be reanimated). Ideally it should have a variant of Dual Blades combo system (where the combos incorporate attacks from both weapons).
EDIT: One more
Pulse Rifle: Pretty obvious really, Robotics Masterminds have cool looking Pulse Rifles, so follow the Dual Pistols route and make it into a blast set for Blasters/Defenders/Corruptors. Admittedly it would be pretty similar to Assault Rifle with Energy/Smashing damage instead of Lethal (and occasional Smashing or Fire) but I think you could make it a distinct set with a bit of work. Robotics has what are basically clones of Burst, Slug and M30 Grenade (although the activation times need changing for a Blast set). Reskinned version of Buckshot, Sniper Rifle, Beanbag and Full Auto all make sense (Dispersion Pattern, High Powered Blast, Stun Pulse, Pulse Spray). Replace Flamethrower and Ignite with something more thematic to help give it a distinctive feel and reorder the powers somewhat and Bjorn Stronginthearm's your uncle. I'd probably give it a T3 Blast because this is one of the two standard blast set powers missing from Assault Rifle. I'm not sure what for the other power choice, Aim could work but then you've got a set that's rather similar to Archery, another TAoE would work (TAoE rather than cone to differentiate from AR) but thematically that's a stretch.

As for what I'd want to see -
Well, we know Electric control (from the last herocon ? panel) is just waiting for a proliferation round. I. WANT.
Dark control/assault, as mentioned above. I know I've worked out sets for it, so have others.
New Epic AT, from the long lost post, a "mecha" type (not quite mastermind, no. Shame the post got lost, it was saved for several forum wipes.)
Reverse MM - You're the offense, the pets are your support. Fewer minions, likely, and you *really* want to keep them alive to keep your buffs.
Coralax EAT. (Yes, I like EATs, when they have a decently written storyline behind them to explore.)
Most of the "sets" I can think of, other than those, could be more customization than actual sets, with different graphics (and sounds.)
Two words: Summon Pirates.
They could have cutlasses and explosive cannon balls and stuff.
Powersets I would like to see :
Insect Blast [Toxic Damage blast set!]
Insect Control [You coud have a Giant Bee as the Tier 9 pet!]
Earth Blast [You'd spend alot of time as a Blaster throwing rocks at people and having things explode at them from the ground...Would be an easy secondary for blasters to make along it though...]
Insect Swarm [This would be a debuff set, though the easiest thing to do is just have an power customization of Radiation Emission]
Mostly, I just like the idea of ATTACKING PEOPLE WITH BEE'S!
