Well, I guess I'm immune to baseless Internet hype since all I expected was a regular Invasion weekend.
I was happily surprised by the surprises and the 'what the heck is *this*?!' feeling when the Invasion didn't follow the usual AI.
Then I enjoyed some Mothership-Raid type of battle in Kings Row. It was fun.
If I happen to catch it again if they do it again, it will be fun again. If I miss it or it's not repeated, then, I move on with my life after a suitable period of grief measured in milliseconds.

A slightly tweaked Rikti invasion event, meh, I'll be brutally honest here and say they would have done themselves a hell of a lot more favours if they hadn't of teased about it and hyped it up but just outright came out a said what was going to happen a week ago. People probably wouldn't be so dang hostile.
All the teasing did nothing but build hype since most Rikti invasions just get announced meaning people were leaning more towards the "it could be but why all the hype then?" slant of things.
Sorry Niv and the rest of the crew, the gesture is greatly appreciated but you kind of shot yourself in the foot when you went all cryptic clues on us.

Hmm Wonder if they thinking of dropping the Warwalls. Clearly if this is more then what Virtue has seen...
Think about it the War Walls function is to keep most of the Rikti away but if Motherships now can arrive then why keep them? We DO know they can run this game now with out the War Walls... Going Rogue has no War Walls!

- A large segment of the forum population has been asking for events. We got one and many of us are happy for that, even if it slightly resembles a standard invasion.
- It has been stated in many places...it is not over yet. Still have yet to see a mothership hovering over us. First wave was probably part of the marketing to get people ready for a weekend attack.
I am really looking forward to seeing how this turns out...and to smashing many Rikti

My angst is towards the lack of information we have received, and I'll gladly eat my words if this "event" turns out to be the prologue for something larger...but right now it's "meh."
This event so far has not played out like normal invasions. Rikti patrols, waves of enemies pouring in, GM class spawns. While they are the same enemy, this event reminds me much more of the end of beta than our current invasions.
Plus the word "Mothership" being dropped at every turn suggests there will be much more. I would love to see that return to active use even if it is just for show.
The Devs are eternally in a bad position. Try to make a surprise for the users and they will complain about lack of information. Share it with them and they will complain about no surprise events. Forum dwellers make the worst customer service targets

Had a rikti ship happened during the time many players were are work school I can tell you they would have been pissed (the players). Luckily it looks like any REALLY different about the event (and what you stated wasn't all that different. I don't know about atlas, but there really weren't waves of enemies. Felt like a regular invasion in Kings Row on Virtue to me.) happens this weekend.
Though I would have been glad with ANY invasions as my Bs/regen on VIRTUE needs 20 more bombs for her rikti sword.

That explains it then. The best I can tell they have not hit Freedom yet. Same thing with Victory. Virtue was a different story, and I am assuming they will make the rounds to other servers this weekend.
