Veteran Badge Question

Hello all,

On September 28, 2009 I received my 54 month badge... so I figured that I'd receive my 57 month badge on December 28, 2009.

I checked my account and it says that I'll be receiving it on January 28, 2010.

Obviously a glitch... I'm wondering if I should inquire about this in-game with a petition or which email address should I contact regarding this?

Thanks for any help!

Definitely send a petition in-game. Mine was showing that I had 28 months of time.... when according to the date of my last reward, I should have already gotten my 30 month badge.

I sent a petition, and got a response in a day or two that it had to be escalated, then I was told that my rewards had been recalculated and I received my wayward vet badge. Total turnaround time? Four days. Not bad, considering the first petition was filed day after X-Mas.

Considering October has 31 days and a "month" for vet rewards is 30 days, your reward should haveen given on the 27th rather than the 28th, too >.>

Except they don't calculate it that way. If they did, my vet rewards would be showing up 5 days earlier every year and they don't.

Hi,

and then what about the 28 day February?

I get my badge on the 1st of the month every three months irrespective of the total number of days passed.

I always assumed (oh dear that word again!) that it was based on anniversary dates.

I like getting my badge on 1st January, as it is a lovely start to my first play session of the year and then I have a chuckle when it arrives on 1st April, somehow appropriate for my playstyle (usually foolish).

Cheers

I should have received my 60 month vet reward yesterday. However, I didin't. When I went to my account it showed: 57 month still pending, total paid time 4 years and 10 months, but it did show I got my 57 month reward on October 2nd. I am not sure what is going on with the vet reward system, but I want my 60 month badge so I can get travel powers at lvl 6. I have sent 4 petitions and still no response.

It shouldn't take 4 days (as someone posted earlier) to get a fix to this.

Hate to break it to you, but the people who work for NCSoft are.... people. (As in not robots) So, it may take a couple days while they review the information, make sure of things, and then apply your proper Veteran badge.

This happened to me back in October. I sent the petition and was awarded the late reward, but going by my original cycle, my reward is late again. Has this happened to anyone else? Am I on a new cycle? Do I need to petition this again each time I have a reward coming up?

Same thing happened with my 60 month vet in early december. Took 2-3 days when I petitioned.

6 months - Faithful Jul 11, 2007
9 months - Dependable Oct 9, 2007
Difference: 90 days

If the system were going by calendar months, I should have gotten Dependable on October 11th.

On the other hand, if a "month" is exactly 30 days, all year, then pricing is consistent throughout the year. If they went by calendar months, playing in February would be more expensive than playing in January.

They do creep up. See following image. I started playing on May 6 2004, which shows up using the 6th on the first bunch of dates. From there, the date started creeping up, eventually hitting the 25th of the preceding month in some cases. It seems get reset every April to the launch date.

Then chalk it up to the general wonkiness of the vet rewards. Mine have not 'crept up' and are hitting the dates based on calendar months.

By the way, that is a TERRIBLE example. Does your rent adjust for shorter months? Does your phone bill? Does your cable bill? Billing on a fixed date is *STANDARD* across many industries. Therefore, yes, you do end up paying more per day in short months.

From what I've heard, it can take a few resets to get the database to take to the error fix. Go ahead and petition it once.

So, within a few days, you sent four petitions? If that is true, you are being a labor-equine and slowing things up for others. And I don't count weekends. Now, if you've been petition, say, once a week, then you have something to worry about. But the general rule is don't petition something more than once as it slows up the chain for everyone.

I would rather them take 4 days then have something happen and screw up my account further. And it also probably involves tier 2 if not 3 support, since it's changing parts of your account, and may involve access to private info.

I don't see how rent, phone, or cable are relevant? Here, the price you pay is constant per day, because a "month" is always 30 days.

(And, by-the-by, I have lived in apartments both where rent was based on 30-day months, based on weeks (4 wk = 1 mo), and based on calendar months)

Mine award on the first of the month, always. Regardless of when I joined, also, mind you.

For comparison, here are my billing dates: (assuming each month pays for 30 days of time)
Account created 6/13/2006
+14 days for Trial: applied 6/13/2006 (+14 = 6/27/2006)
+30 days for CoH Retail: applied 6/27/2006 (+30 = 7/27/2006)
7/31/2006 (+30 = 8/26/2006)
8/28/2006 (+30 = 9/25/2006)
+30 Days for CoV Retail: applied 9/20/2006 (+30 = 10/25/2006)
10/27/2006 (+30 = 11/24/2006)
11/28/2006 (+30 = 12/24/2006)
12/28/2007 (+30 = 1/23/2007)
1/27/2007 (+30 = 2/22/2007)
2/27/2007 (+30 = 3/24/2007)
3/28/2007 (+30 = 4/23/2007)
+30 Days for DVD Retail: applied 4/13/2007 (+30 = 5/23/2007)
+60 Days for Game Card: applied 4/13/2007 (+60 = 7/22/2007)
7/26/2007 (+30 = 8/21/2007)
8/26/2007 (+30 = 9/20/2007)
9/26/2007 (+30 = 10/20/2007)
10/28/2007 (+30 = 11/19/2007)
11/26/2007 (+30 = 12/19/2007)
12/26/2007 (+30 = 1/18/2008)
1/26/2008 (+30 = 2/17/2008)
2/26/2008 (+30 = 3/18/2008)
3/26/2008 (+30 = 4/17/2008)
4/26/2008 (+30 = 5/17/2008)
5/26/2008 (+30 = 6/16/2008)
6/26/2008 (+30 = 7/16/2008)
7/26/2008 (+30 = 8/15/2008)
8/26/2008 (+30 = 9/14/2008)
9/26/2008 (+30 = 10/14/2008)
I gave out a Refer-a-friend code on 10/15/2008, good for "one month of free game time" (+30 = 11/13/2008)
I switched to the "12 Month" Plan (+360 = 11/8/2009)
(I then switched to the "12 Month + 2 Free" Holiday Plan, but have not yet been re-billed.)
+30 Days for AE Retail: applied 1/08/2009 (+30 = 12/8/2009)
I also had 3 successful "Invite a Friend Back" rewards earned this year, good for "15 days of free game time" each:
sent 8/16/2009, 10/10/2009, 10/10/2009 (+45 = 1/22/2009).

Yet, my current account status is: Playable Until 2/9/2010.

It doesn't seem to shift correctly based on how many days are in a month... if each month billed granted only 30 days, then I was not even billed until several days after my time ran out, which seems like a silly thing to do. My account has never lapsed other than the initial Trial period ending on 6/27/2006, and I immediately purchased the retail from the online store that night. I think we are actually getting credit for 31 days on those corresponding months, and even less for Februaries.

Using full months of payment, instead of 30 days, my time looks like this instead:
Account created 6/13/2006
+14 days for Trial: applied 6/13/2006 (+14 = 6/27/2006)
+30 days for CoH Retail: applied 6/27/2006 (+30 = 7/27/2006)
2 months of regular payment = 9/27/2006
+30 Days for CoV Retail: applied 9/20/2006 (+30 = 10/27/2006)
6 months of regular payment = 4/27/2007
+30 Days for DVD Retail: applied 4/13/2007 (+30 = 5/27/2007)
+60 Days for Game Card: applied 4/13/2007 (+60 = 7/26/2007)
15 months of regular payment = 10/26/2008
The Refer-a-friend code, good for "one month of free game time" = 11/26/2008
12 Month Plan = 11/26/2009
+30 Days for AE Retail: applied 1/08/2009 (+30 = 12/26/2009)
3 "Invite a Friend Back", good for "15 days of free game time" each (+45 = 2/9/2009)

There's the correct date! We are billed monthly, for the MONTH, not for 30 days of game time.
Once I'm finally billed for my 12+2 Plan, I expect I'll be playable until 4/9/2011.

Back on-topic: I get the Veteran "wonkiness" too...
3 months - MO 11/6/2006 (release date of veteran rewards)
6 months - TU 12/12/2006
9 months - WE 3/14/2007
12 months - WE 6/13/2007
15 months - MO 9/10/2007
18 months - TU 12/11/2007
21 months - WE 3/12/2008
24 months - TU 6/10/2008
27 months - WE 9/10/2008
30 months - WE 12/10/2008
33 months - TU 3/10/2009
36 months - MO 6/8/2009
39 months - SU 9/6/2009
42 months - SA 12/12/2009

That date has shifted all over the place! ...but I DON'T have a long, drawn-out explanation for this one. I tried blaming it on the day of the week, but I can't find a pattern anywhere. lol

For my second account, which is paid monthly, I am billed on the Xth of each month (I think it's the 6th, it may be the 7th, I am too lazy to fetch bank statements) and I pay the same amount every month. Therefore, I pay $14.99 in February and I pay $14.99 in March.

How does that equate to "constant per day"? 14.99/28 != 14.99/31. Sorry, hon!

I just wanted to update that I was billed the other day, and the account status does indeed say "Playable Until: Apr 9, 2011" like I expected it to. 14 months were added to my account, not 14x30 days.

But another strange thing is that my future Veteran rewards seem to have shifted a couple of weeks again.

Here is my previous list from above...

48 months - TH 6/24/10
51 months - WE 9/22/10
54 months - TU 12/21/10
57 months - MO 3/21/11

I don't see any logical reason why they would shift a whole week and a half past the previous dates. The "wonkiness" continues! lol

Speaking of wonkiness when my vet rewards were showing 4 months between my 15 and 18 month badges I petitioned it. I got my 18 month rewards in the span of a couple business days and I was pleased about that. Now however the list looks like this:

6 months - Faithful Jan 25, 2010
9 months - Dependable Jan 25, 2010
12 months - Loyal Jan 25, 2010
15 months - Zealous Oct 20, 2009
18 months - Staunch Jan 25, 2010

It seems Ouroboros has been meddling in my account! I should probably petition that again before the next vet reward comes due.

Edit: Spell check is good.

On the subject of Veteran Badges, I've always wondered if you created a new toon, would they be "grandfathered" with the goodies that come with the previous badges?

Me thinks no. For example: I just currently received my 12 Month Vet Badge, which I had to petition by the way as it never hit my account when it should have. I had a few Toons which I started half way or maybe even a quarter of the way within that 12 Month cycle. As you know, you are given certain bennies such as Repec's which is the bigger reward.

With that being said, I tried to respec my Toon which I rolled 3 months ago. According to my vet badges it does show a respec for 12 Months but when I clicked on it and tried to use it, nada, nothing. So am I correct on this that the Toon "must" have been active for the full 12 Months to receive any rewards? I've really been scratching my head on this one...

You are incorrect. The Vet Rewards are based on your Account, not your characters. If you make a brand new character right now, you'll find you have access to everything for all 12 months of Vet Rewards on that new character.

As for the resepc, a.k.a. VetSpec, you can't use them via /respec. You have to talk to Jack Wolfe in Galaxy City for Heroes, or Arbiter Lupin in Nerva or Arbiter Sawyer in Port Oaks for Villains.

Ahhhh,..so unlike the "normal" kind of respec you get either by TF or given to us by NCSoft for a new issue, any respecs earned via getting Vet Badges must be redeemed as you said Galaxy City for Hero's and Arbiter Lupin in Nerva or Arbiter Sawyer in Port Oaks for Villains. I did not know that. I was trying the /respec as you normally could and it didn't work. Maybe in the future they will make it available. Hmmm maybe I should add that to "Suggestions and Ideas?"
