That would be very very bad. People would just stop listing expensive items on the market and start listing them on the boards. If you aren't on one of the high pop servers your ability to buy and price paid would be even worse.

The ironic part is when the Hero Badge hunters go over to the red side to get their badge fix. Everything earned by these players while playing red side will be funneled into the blue market.

I don't know about the rest of the badge hunters but My hero will make the trip and back to get those badges only available red side.

If the markets were merged I have 2 heroes that would make that trek permanently.

The thing about these things that are supposed to be difficult and/or impossible is that the Devs are doing them regularly. Wasn't power customization supposed to be difficult/impossible? How about critter customization? The thing that seems to be constantly overlooked is that our Devs have done difficult things. It's just a matter of convincing them it would be good for the game.

Shoot, there was even a handful of threads about a borked drop rate that they needed a helluva lot of convincing about before they admitted there was a problem. It's just too bad we can't prove with hard data that a market merger would be the best thing for the game. I know they can do it if they decide it should be done, nothing impossible about it.

I don't know all of the mechanics of the game, but if Milady's is right about it being a matter of a single character or field that determines which system you're on, it shouldn't be too difficult to change. Aside from a hard programming obstacle, every other excuse for not merging the market hits you like a gust of flatulence.

Just read the whole thread, it's funny how many times people have mentioned the confirmation that once the transition is complete you can use the other sides market. Funnier still how many times it's been ignored, and how obvious it is that if GR is issue X, the markets will be merged in issue X+1. They just want to give it some time to even out through side switching before hand.

I could be wrong.. but have they said anywhere the Markets AREN'T being merged? All they have said is vigilanties have to use WW and Rogues have to use BM, but that could just mean they have to use that interface...

Im sure i'll be switching sides regardless of which market is better, I want to double dip in them HP/end accolades'

but yea, if I we're them I would at least find a way to try a merged market for a while, and if for some strange reason its worse than it is now (slim to none) they would hopefully be able to revert back.

My mind has been wandering down this path a bit too.. I could easily see the dev's logic in being willing to merge the markets, yet being shy of jumping in with both feet. The way GR is sounding, influence/infamy and items will still be moving cross-faction, just through a slower, more convoluted route.

Cannot double dip on the accolades. They've specifically ruled that out.

This^^^. Heck, leading up to the price cap patch, I would just buy all the good stuff off the market for cheap, and then sell it exorbitantly on my server. Watch the supply of rare stuff disappear, as folks with the money hoard it all, and then dole it out at 10x the prior going rate. Demand sets the prices both on the CH, and off of it.

I think that several of my heroes will walk over the line to the Rogue Isles just to see what it's like. Get some different badges, try my hand at the RSF, stuff like that.

They may not stay there, but I do think we will see a jump in "hero tourism."

I've got all the backstory ready for all my heroes that are going bad.

Only if you're not taking into account that you're now selling to the aggregated demand pools of both sides.

I could conceivably see a couple markets that are very marginal on one side or the other turning into big money propositions in a merged market.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

There's already a price cap (two billion), and high prices aren't necessarily ridiculous. I'd pay two billion for a Gladiator's Armor +3% defense, and apparently so would a LOT of people, because that's the going price. If we're all willing to pay it, what makes that price ridiculous? And that's the capped price. It would be higher if the price cap was removed. There are a lot more people bidding than selling at that price. There's a LINE of people, all willing to pay two billion. If you want one, you put in your bid and you get in line, and maybe you'll get one some day.

That's your confirmation, folks.

Which means a few things:

1) Say goodbye to the Rogue Isles.
2) The markets, in a sense, will be merged because everyone will be at WW, anyhow.
3) Those of us that will be taking hero ATs redside should either group up or plan on soloing a lot.
4) Nobody will want to stay a Rogue very long.

Not really... If there is no more ridiculous artificial limitations for vigilanties and rogues, I'm going to move my heroes to vigilanties and villains to rogues and leave them at it.

The hyperbole is strong with this one. Took me 100 hours to solo my brute reroll from 0-50. He's already got 90% of the IOs he needs for his final respec including the 5 of 6 armageddons I plan to slot. (Clarity: I have the 5 I plan to slot. Don't need the 6th.)

This doomcyring about the death of redside is even more stupid than the doomcrying about GR killing off AT X, Y and Z.

qft. Folks need to relax. The Rogue Isles will be fine.

Actually if lvl 40-50 GR content is going to be as epic as i suspect I think you'll be seeing most folks in the GR zones for a while after the expansion comes out. Meaning that it won't matter jack shite if you are a hero or villain.

The good thing about this "Vigilante" distinction, is that there are basically little downsides of doing that. It's like sticking your toe it. You don't have to go completely bad, just bad enough to do the villain content and then leave.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
