Are people just rude?
Remember, for Rikti raids, the areas with a high concentration of players get the most troops beaming in. In any given zone, the highest concentration of players (that is not inside a Wentworth's) tends to be the trainers.
When the invasions first started, the biggest fights were always at the trainer because that's where most people were anyways. More troops = a better chance for heavies, so people wanted bigger fights. In Atlas, this is more noticeable because of all the people socializing right by Lady Liberty.
I remember the very first invasion of that issue happened on the steps of the admin building, on Guardian at least. But it moved to its usual spot within a day.
People got used to using the trainers as convergence points during the Rikti raids, and when the zombie invasions started everyone just clustered at the usual spots.
It's just social inertia, try to not worry about it.
It's not necessarily a bad idea. Part of the reason people are not agreeing with you is that your post indicated that people who fight Rikti invasions near the Atlas trainer (most of us) are rude. If you really want to campaign for a change, turn your message from negative to positive.

It was late, I was tired. I still retain some niavity in thinking people might think about things for a few moments and how, in future, it might be them finding the same problem.

Relative newbie (under six months) perspective:
Always seeing the invasions in the same places (on the trainers/etc), I assumed that this was where they automatically happened. Seeing lots of AoE heal going off around said trainers, I also assumed the NPCs were doing it. (Dying if I stepped too far away from those areas reinforced this idea.)
This thread is the first time I've learned otherwise.
/shrug
When I first played my Peacebringer, I stood next to Ms Liberty blasting away at aliens, and dinged. So I trained right then and there and immediately started blasting away with my new attack.
I don't see the problem.

Late Addition: Hard to get close
Low level character: Liklihood of dying: Have to run back from hospital
Playing on slower/older computer: Large build up of lag
List: Potentially longer

(thumbs up)
"Excellent!"
(back to work)
This zone is too small for both of us!
Just my quick 2 cents:
I agree. It really isn't too much to ask for to move the chaos a fair distance away from Trainers. Quite frankly, I can tell you a far, far more idea position to make your stand...The Hospital! Obviously far enough from the drones to avoid getting kill-stealing, but close enough that you can get back up and run all of 50 yards back to the action.
Also, as an aside, yesterday I was part of a zombie raid on that big hill in Talos. Far from the Trainer (Which, by the by, is a lag-tastic area as is with the monorail and WW so close) and it looked awesome to boot. I mean how classic is it to stage a massive battle atop a large hill?
I'm in favor of adding drones by Trainers anyways, or giving trainers 1-Shot attacks to deal with stray mobs themselves. I really don't get why this was never done, it would make sense for trainers to be safe-zones.
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
I had the misfortune of getting whacked this way. Alas, I had shifted between the powers/slots management window, the full-screen training window and Paragon wiki to look up a power, and had no idea at the time while I was training that an invasion was under way. When I brought the training screen down, it was 'base or hospital', *Eep! whut?!*

I shouldn't have included the AFK example.
Zero debt isn't the problem.
Not being able to get to the trainer due to swarms of people/AoE attacks/stupidly high lag is the problem.
And its not reasonable to say 'Just go to another zone'. Trainers are meant to be used for training. If people dont want to take part in the invasions, this is disrupting how they play the game, and enforcing things on them that shouldnt be.
Conceptually as well, it makes no sense for the trainers to be DANGEROUS areas.
The one that always hacked me off was the Arbiter in Nerva. No Arachnos Drones. And Longbow spawns, often with Bosses, appear RIGHT next to him.

The I r Rikti robot thing doesn't really help you make a point clearly. Especially when I've been up half the night. If it's meant to be funny, use it in funny threads. If you're trying to have a serious discussion about something: rethink. |
I use the Rikti-speak occasionally in funny threads, when I can make it funny. The rest of the time I use it when I lose patience with people, or feel motivated enough to try and drum something into peoples heads. Results vary, as expected.
This thread is dumb and you should feel bad for posting it. |
You just proved the alternative meaning is in fact correct. Have a cookie.

Why, why oh why, do people always camp out for Invasions by the trainers? Atlas Park is the worst offender. People group around Ms Liberty like she's promising free nights out and candle lit dinner to everyone within 9 metres.
|
What you are asking for, that people flock in the least inconvenient manner, is impossible. Inconvenience is not a concept that can be understood instinctually, which is the mental level at which flocking occurs. Flocks generally have no leader with a bullhorn, so once a flock forms that's where it's going to stay, inconvenient or not (unless of course something forces a relocation, such as an instinctive recognition by a majority of the flock that the flocking is better over there).
You can flip 'em the bird and tell 'em to flock off, for all the good it'll do.
Goldbrick 50 inv/ss tank
Other 50s: Power Beam, Rocky Mantle, STORMIE Agent, Matchless, Major Will, Knightmayor, Femstone, Space Maureen, Crimebuster Ako, Dr. Twilight, Doc Champion, American Gold Eagle
During zone events, I've observed that players don't camp or group or assemble or meet up, they flock. Flocking is an unspoken go with the flow sort of thing. People enter the zone, head for the most likely flocking locations, spot a gathering, and join the flock.

Hereinafter, I'm at the trainers fully toggled and shielded. Blame me for the spamming.
Always amusing when a truck drives through the battle.
