Did they streamline Halloween salvage drops?

I was on a bit this afternoon and I got the 4 salvage pieces needed to unlock the bonus costume slot in a row, with no duplicates. Is this a new feature of the Halloween event?

Considering the size of your statistical sample, I would go for sheer luck instead...

There are usually two sides to every argument but no end.

Everything placed above this line is always IMHO, YMMV and quite certainly not to be taken too seriously....

All I know is that any Halloween mob has a chance to drop it upon defeat now, instead of having a chance only when one opens a TRT door.

All the drops I've gotten are from mob defeats in the Trick. I have gotten no salvage from the doors themselves.

That's what I experienced as well.

Have they fixed the spawn rates of the Ghosts this time around?

Nope. I just got two BAB gloves for the first two pieces of event salvage on a character that has never done the event before.

First ToT I did I got Recluse Mask and States mask in the first mob

Hell yes. I got my ghost badge well before the others on a character doing the event from scratch

No. This morning one of my characters collected more than 15 salvage pieces before getting a complete set. On the other hand, another got a complete set with no duplicates, like you. It's still very random.

I'm not sure I'd call it "fixed"...

Yes, there are plenty of ghosts now. On the other hand, the ToT zombies aren't showing up very often (at least for solo players), so the Dead Head badge is much harder to get. Dead Head used to be the first Halloween hunting badge I'd get, now it's usually the last.

This year's spawns include much more frequent lieutenant and boss spawns. Paired lieutenants, a lone boss, a boss with a couple minions, and even a boss with a lieutenant show up for solo characters.

Oh, so it's just like running my missions on +0/x2...

It is however not good for squishy AT's who are unable to defeat strong opponents. I noticed that my veat has to work very hard not to die out there.

Ghosts are spawning just like other enemies. I worked a long while trying to get them last year, to no avail. I got my last 4 needed in about 2-3 doors... so I'd say they're fixed.

For the costume salvage, it seems to be dropping off of enemy defeats now, and it's random. I had three Statesman helmets drop earlier, and that's it. So there you go, MG! You got lucky!

True. It seems that even characters whose difficulty is set not to spawn bosses can still pull bosses in the Trick. What really bites is that the bosses are not always by themselves when they spawn. My Stalker is still in traction because of that stupid Vampire Lord and his Werewolf Lt.

Probably not much use to you on villians, but I'd happily run a ToT team on Onion Heroes for anyone wanting the badges. We did about a hours worth in PI last night, mopped up all the defeat badges (including Jack and Echoai) and the first clothes horse badge. Only got one bit of salvage, but then Dev's hate the EU so thats to be expected.

On higher level teams tot is a good fun business because they can handle the +3 level swarms of mobs you get when fully teamed. Try that on a pre SO team and you die, a lot. Tried it today and died every other spawn on a scrapper. When my system crashed after another wipeout, I did not bother going back. Instead I logged a high level toon and had fun.

The difficulty of the mob spawns should not go up that much for teaming lowbies. I would suggest +0 for 1-12, +1 13-21,+2 23-32, +3 32 plus. This reflect training, DO, SO range enhancements and epic powersets range. Since the mobs do not differ in difficulty in the whole level range, this seems a good alternate way of maing things difficult enough without wrecking it to lowbies.

Yeah, good point, I remember getting ganked last year as I was new and had only low level toons and the whites took an age to kill, let alone yellows and reds.

Is event salvage dropped only by the mobs that arrive via TRT, or do the banner event mobs drop event salvage too?

Banner mobs. I did some of the zone events last night and was surprised to see Halloween salvage afterwards. Nice!

Are you sure? On Test, most people were exclusively doing the Deadly Apocalypse and no one mentioned getting Halloween Event salvage from it.

I've never had the Halloween salvage drop on a banner event, but that doesn't mean it can't... I've only played in a few of those.

I'm skeptical as well, however... it dropped somewhat regularly from mobs while ToTing, and I think I've ToT'd about as much I have run with the banner events.

Based on last year's experience, the 'treat' drops are biased toward inspirations, so if your insp tray is full, you may not see anything. I did about twenty minutes of ToTing last night, and came out with a common recipe, an invention (snipe set, meh), two costumes, and an SO; my inspiration tray was full, so I didn't see any of them.

Yeah, I took to just darting off on my kin/elec defender whenever I saw a boss and lt spawn. Thank God for Siphon Speed, when it actually hits, grumble...

My blaster seemed to have less issues with bosses than I expected. I guess that means it's time to up my difficulty a bit for missions.
