The Grand List of Unavailable Enemy Weapons

I am still hoping that DB gets access to the unlockable gladius that BS gets. I am all for more, I think weapon customization is one of the greatest features ever added to the game, and I would love to see more done with it.

Would dearly love that Knife of Artemis. Unlockable or handed out, either way is cool.

Is the Greatest Ice Sword too signature to have it available at character creation?

Coralax hammer as a mace...unlikely. It's pretty much a two handed weapon. There's even a temp power that uses it that way.

Tomohawk, as a battleaxe...no. It's too small for Battleaxe (I've already tried it, looks silly).

Coral club and Elder knife...not sure if both sides have access to those villain groups. They're too signature to no have as unlockables.

Arachnos Pistol seems reasonable. I'll see if we can't get that in for Dual Pistols.
I note that while you've included the image of the Ring Pommeled Sword in your quote, you don't specifically mention it- so what are the chances of that becoming availible? It's pretty nice looking.

On a similar note, any chance of Bots MMs ever getting a Pulse Rifle that isn't huge and klunky?

Cross faction rarity didnt stop you from making the red cap daggers an unlockable.

I just wish they'd bring the Grave Knight's Upgraded Sword back. They slipped it in during beta for weapon customization, but took it out to keep it unique for the pets. I think that should be repealed, especially if MM pet customization ever comes about.

You can harvest Coralax in the Hollows (along the Red River). This was added with the revamp in Issue 12

Yes, but villains were kind of annoyed by that, weren't they?
I don't see citing precedent for a mistake as a compelling reason to repeat it, honestly.
Going Rogue will probably make this a moot point anyway, though...

So, Redcap daggers being only available to Heroes year round isn't a desirable outcome? Or is their limited availability during the Christmas and Valentines events considered sufficient?

Yeah BABs, I dont want to give you a hard time for giving us good news, but come on man. That excuse is pretty thin. Especially since once GR hits, people who want them can just cross the line to get acess to them, and then cross back.

Nah. They just can't put in a villain-exclusive one (Snakes are villain excluisve right now) because devs hate villains.

disclaimer: sarcasm

More seriously: What about the coral hammer being an option not for War Mace, but for Stone Melee?

But what about the Ring-Pommeled Sword, BABs? WHAT ABOUT THE RING-POMMELED SWORD?

The big ice sword doesn't really have any unique qualities that distinguish it from any other ice sword. It's still just a sword made out of ice. It's not special demon ice or anything. It's just in a shape that, for whatever reason, players haven't thought to do. After giving Earth new skin themes, I think adding a new model for some other sets is very much within reason. To me that sounds about as silly as saying we'd have to unlock the crystal theme for earth powers by fighting Coralax. What's wrong with just... having it?

Any thoughts on ring pommel saber and the Knives sawblade? They're generic enough that they could be available freely. But even if you decide to tie them into an unlockable, both sides have about equal access to the gangs that use them. I'd love to swing that sawblade around.

That's a great reason in theory, but in practice it's pretty weak. Even when you do get those really cool and unique powers like Rune of Warding and Loa Bone, you think it's cool for maybe two uses until you realize the power is practically useless. You end up with a bunch of temps that have base accuracy, pretty unimpressive damage, and secondary effects that are really specific and useless (like the Rune of Warding). Result is more that you feel like they made a cool effect and wasted it on something that most people will never obtain, much less use.

Looking like Psychic Scream doesn't make Wave Scrambler any less useful. And keeping Rune of Warding unique doesn't make me use the power. What am I going to do with it? Attack enemies that only exist in one zone and do a little bonus damage, assuming it doesn't miss because it has base accuracy? I'd rather just stab them. I'm more inclined to pick up all the weapon-based temps to showcase how cool some of them look than to actually USE any of them.

There's still a precedent for temp weapons becoming available in other ways. Vet rewards allowed us more long-term access to some powers when we can make the most use out of them (at low levels). So it's not all about keeping the powers unique. Sometimes cool stuff can and should be available in other ways.

These are hilarious ideas, but for the wrong reasons. I'm not sure I even want to touch the hammer for stone one.

The Jurassik car concept can only go two ways I think, and both are laugh-worthy. One is the thing keeps it size and not only dwarfs every character who wields it, but totally destroys all sense of animation sync. The other option is that it's small and you end up carrying around a toy car. Though the odds are approximately zero, I'd love to see either one of those for the comedy factor alone.

It'd be cool if the new Rikti Gun Sword

and Nemesis Lance

Were eventually added (The gun sword as an option for both Broadsword and Battle Axe, and the Rifle, obviously, for AR and Merc masterminds). Also, seeing as we have Broadsword Stalkers now, I think the serrated Knives of Artemis sword would be a good option to add as sort of a tribute to the original BS Stalkers

PS: Could the Rikti options for Broadsword and Axe possibly be proliferated between eachother? The Axe was a sword to begin with (It was wielded by the Chief Soldiers and Mentalists/Mesmerists of old as the "Greater Rikti Sword" if I recall right), and the Sword is big and choppy-looking enough to where it could be utilized effectively as an axe.

Put me down as /signed for EVERYTHING in the OP.

We have a ton of Japanese options, why no Chinese-love?
I'm half-Japanese, have a lot of Japanese themed toons, and I still am /signing this for great justice!
It's also one of the things that irks me about the natural booster being ninja themed: we've already got ninja costume pieces.

PS: Rusty blade for broadsword, plox.
Arachnos Maces should be a no go for Veat and Pardon power reasons!

And hey, I made the OP better! Now all the pictures are to scale with each other except for the snake knife because I can't figure out how to get that stupid thing to show up in demos!
If it's a temp power for something very specific, ie "The Lao Bone" or a Void Hunter Rifle, then yeah...I don't want to make them into generic custom weapons.

But just being a temp power doesn't mean I won't consider it as a potential custom weapon.

I disagree with the first part of your statement so hard.

Even so, good work, in general, as always BABs.

I can't quite tell, but the new pack is said to have a sword with a ring on the end of it, is it the same sword mentioned here?

EDIT: Found the two pics, and it looks like it to me.

It is. I thought it was a little odd BaBs kinda ignored that while going through the list. This is a nice happy ending for that mystery, though!

I stand corrected. But that does sort of undermine your argument against adding the Coral Hammer, which you mentioned is a temp power in a way that could be read as meaning that that is a reason you wouldn't add it as a weapon. Sure it's too big as-is, but you could just resize it like you did with the Carnie mallet.

Though maybe that's not something you "just" do.
