Would've thought it'd be funnier to imply that he has a double-standard - expects more from a woman than he'd apparently provide.

I'm kind of the same way. Breasts and butts might catch my eye, but when it comes to actually going out of my way to do something, nice always works much better than pretty. That's not to say it isn't as exploitable - acting nice is much easier than looking pretty. Then again, it's not quite THAT easy, seen as how many women seem to not quite grasp the concept.
Depends on what you want from me. Directions, no problem. $1, sure thing. A night in a hotel room? Most likely not. Personality does a lot more for me than a nice rack. The nice rack, however, with catch my eye as you approach.
Yes, I am an unusual male specimen. |
Far as I'm concerned, nice and decent trumps boobs every time.

Yes, dear.
And referring to them as a "rack" won't do you any favors
A rack is something you keep clothes or towels on - the correct term is "breasts" - it's not that hard a word to say |

Hmm...I hate using the same word twice right next to itself.
But you are right, I probably do have some double standards. Just like everyone else.
Exactly. Now, when you pair the nice and decent with the boobs (and the legs and all the rest)...
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"

To the anonymous eejit who neg-repped me with a stupid comment about "Do you know how long a heterosexuals only SG would last?" Angle your oversensitive eyes upward and take a look at the bolded words.
You saw that? Great. Now tell me, where the hell did I say "LGBT-only supergroups?" Anyway, I'm not having this conversation here, but I wanted that to be absolutely clear. Now go work on your reading comprehension so you don't fail so hard in the future, 'kay? |
I suggest you learn the difference between "whining" and "responding." Oh, and look up "petty" while you're at it. I do not think that word means what you think it means.
If you still need an explanation: Someone says something risible in a neg rep, doesn't sign it. If I want to respond to it (and in this case I did, because the neg rep was epically stupid and clearly was knee-jerking), I can only reply to the thread (and probably the comment) where I got the negative rep. I can't PM the person, nor can I reply to a post in this thread.
If you don't want someone to parade your anonymous stupidity around in public, don't apply it in the first place.

I expect to be treated with a modicum of respect if I were talking or going out with a woman. But I also treat the people I'm communicating with with respect. Unless they show me otherwise.

But, really, just because people have double-standards doesn't mean they're okay.

Would that it were. The men wear very much full outfits and the women wear those gaudy togas that are inexplicably hard to get. Now, if we could get the outfits of the Sybils in the ITF to use, that might make me feel different, only so much as even seeing them requires doing the TF. Sister I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Ghost-Widow is a good example outside of that, of course.

This thread has provided me with aproximately 25 minutes of giggles and as a result my husband is annoyed because I refuse to tell him what's funny.
Thank you again, boards. I love you all.

I agree. Which is why I attempt to keep mine in check. The one I have the most problems with, that I know of, is when I'm driving. I want slower drivers to get out of my way. However, I do seem to drive at the edge of the speed laws. So, not getting out of someone else's way might actually save them from getting a ticket. Yes, I know. Rationalizations aren't always good either. |

Well let's fix that, shall we? I'm a man and I'd totally let Clamor teach me new things. Because she's a woman, and I'm a man, and me being a heterosexual man, I like women, especially freaky chicks like Clamor.
Just doing my bit to get this thread back on track. No need to thank me.

I've thought about responding in a similar manner, but it occurs to me that private anonymous stupidity is harmless, including to me. Responding to it requires that I first broadcast it, and I'm much more comfortable relegating their anonymous stupidity to irrelevance.

The ultimate fate I want for all stupidity is irrelevance, and by posting both privately and anonymously, they've already made themselves more irrelevant than I can otherwise achieve.
Of course, I reserve the right to make fun of truly epic stupidity, but I haven't been graced by that sort of reverse-genius yet.

While I agree with you for the most part, I do like to post random, confusing stupidity from my comments either when I plain old don't get it and hope other people can explain it (which hasn't worked so far) or when I think people can get at least cheap laugh out of it (with mixed results). Either way, people's anonymity does not mean their correspondence won't be aired for all to see should I feel like it.
