Notes from a first week player

Today marks my one week anniversary playing COX and my one week anniversary playing MMORPG's in general and I have to say that it's been 99.9% fun.

I've met mostly very helpful people on the three servers I've been playing on to date--Pinnacle, Protector, and Infinity--and, I'm sorry to say one or two not so nice individuals. But then, like everywhere else you go in life, there are many different types of people and when you meet one of the not so nice people, you just move on because there are sure to be at least a dozen good people just on the other side. I've rolled up characters in each archetype and both genders and I've found they all have their own pluses and minuses and their unique challenges in playing them.

I confess to being a bit clumsy--really all thumbs--in navigating early on, but I've gotten more into the swing of things--practice really does make perfect here. I've found that it's not that hard to team if you want to--and to those who I've teamed with, thank you for letting my toons tag along with you. I'd also like to apologize to those teams I might have inadvertently quit. Sometimes, in the midst of battle and my mouse is clicking wildly, I think I might have called up the wrong screen and hit the wrong radio button. Have to learn better mouse control!

Going from primarily single player off-line play to an MMORPG is an interesting experience and one I've been afraid to engage in for a long time. Now that I've played this game--even for only a week--I'm regretting taking so long to take the plunge.

To all those who've helped me out in whatever toon I'm playing in, Thank you! And if I do something that I shouldn't, please feel free to send me a Tell and let me know that that's not the way things are done.

Welcome to CoX! I'm coming up on my 6-month badge myself, take it from a semi-newbie, the game is great and easy to learn the basics. Try villain side sometime and roll a mastermind for some real fun you can't have on blueside.

Glad you've had a good time, I'd tell you to ignore the jerks but you already seem to have that well in hand (we don't like the jerks either )

The forums are an absolute treasure chest of information by the way, so if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask.

I can also recommend Paragon Wiki for any information you may need.

Glad to see you're having fun! You've got a great attitude, and it sounds like you're doing all the right things. If you ever need any help, just give a shout here on the boards. We may sound offputting at times, but as long as you keep up your positive attitude and remind us that you're new, we're always willing to help.

That is exactly how I felt after my first few weeks... I kept asking myself why I had been so reluctant. And now, I am progressing toward 30 Months!
