Notes from a first week player

Welcome aboard. And you chose my home server as one of your starting servers. If you run across me in-game I'll be more than willing to help you out (provided I'm not too busy or about to log out, the first one seldom happens)

Pinnacle has a great community, so much so that I have a hard time playing anywhere else.

Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the game, David! This is the very first MMO I ever played, and while I've dabbled in a few others, CoX is home for me (coming up on 45 months, wow).

I'm usually on Infinity in the evenings; if you ever need a team or some help over there, send a tell to @El Spark. Cheers!

I'm not the droid I'm looking for.

MA Arc ID 8121: Rapp'Mas'Ta's War. The Rikti are trying to incorporate sonic effects into their weapons? THAT can't be good. Maybe we should ask them to stop.

Have you gone back to the US servers?

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Are you saying that the globa handles work between US and EU as well? Because that would be AWESOME and would be one more step closer to having one worldwide game community.

Or are you just saying that you have that global registered on both sets of servers?

They don't - which is a frequent point of the merge-or-die threads

Don't worry about learning everything. Never be afraid to ask questions. Welcome to the best MMO community in the western world. It was my first MMO too, and there's no sign that it's going to disappoint me yet. 39 months and counting

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome various new users.

To the OP, Pinnacle has a pretty cool niche community on the pinnbadges global channel (tho you have to /tell a channel op to get speaking instructions). Lots of people are doing content, especially badge related stuff.

Also, if you see anyone in the "Titans of Legend" SG, they're all me. Feel free to send me a /tell for help or a team.

Hooray for new players! The only sad part, for me, is they aren't on =my= server.

Oh well, back to helping the new players on Justice...

Welcome to Paragon City, David!

Welcome to the game! I don't have any toons on the servers you're on, so we haven't teamed, but if you're ever on Guardian or Virtue, feel free to look me up.

Same here. I saw CoH when it first came out, but shyed away from it because I was afraid of being forced to play with, or against, people who were much better at video games than me. When I finally bit the bullet 3-1/2 years later it only took me a few hours to realize how much fun I'd been missing out on.

Welcome to the game and the forums! I've been here 5 years running now and have no intention of leaving.

Mouse control?

The mouse interface is pretty capable, don't get me wrong, but as you've discovered, in the heat of combat it's easy to do the wrong thing.

This is a large part of why I've stuck around: I can make my entire keyboard do pretty much everything I want. If you think you're going to stick around for a while, learning how to bind common tasks to easy-to-reach keys on your keyboard is going to save you a boatload of time.

It's not some complicated system that'll play the game for you; it's a pretty simple one that'll help you play your game, your way, better. Learn it, love it, use it, and you'll be glad you did.

Hey another new person! I was getting a little intimidated in here.

I know I joined around 2 weeks ago and feel the same way. This is the first MMO I've actually bought a subscription to. Which is odd because I've known and looked at CoX for a long time but never got around to playing it, and with the recent additions like power colors it looks like I joined at the right time.

But then, like everywhere else you go in life, there are many different types of people and when you meet one of the not so nice people, you just move on because there are sure to be at least a dozen good people just on the other side. I've rolled up characters in each archetype and both genders and I've found they all have their own pluses and minuses and their unique challenges in playing them.

To all those who've helped me out in whatever toon I'm playing in, Thank you! And if I do something that I shouldn't, please feel free to send me a Tell and let me know that that's not the way things are done.

I'll see you all in Paragon City!
Lookie here, I say lookie here youngin' welcome aboard! Breath smelling all like similac, still wet behind the ears!

Seriously though, welcome. I'm glad you're enjoying your time here. CoH was my first (and only) MMORPG.

On the mouse issue, have you ever tried using a trackball? I know many people hate them, but I myself can not play CoH (or use a PC) with a standard mouse. And since you're all thumbs, the trackball might be just what you need!

Welcome aboard to all three new people. The only server I share with you David is Protector. While it's not my "home" server, it's a wonderful home away from home. I'd highly recommend checking out their forum and perhaps joining either their badge channel "Protector Watch" or "JelloShooters" which is more of a community channel.

About 50% of the time I use click options instead of chat commands for invites, etc. Over the years I’ve managed to kick people off the team, SG, etc. One day, I did both to one friend. It’s a good thing she has an excellent sense of humor (and drinks a lot of beer).
