  1. Thanks everyone for your kind words! I'll definitely be checking out the guides and I've got the Paragon Wiki bookmarked and look forward to talking to you and teaming with you on both the red and blue sides.
  2. Today marks my one week anniversary playing COX and my one week anniversary playing MMORPG's in general and I have to say that it's been 99.9% fun.

I've met mostly very helpful people on the three servers I've been playing on to date--Pinnacle, Protector, and Infinity--and, I'm sorry to say one or two not so nice individuals. But then, like everywhere else you go in life, there are many different types of people and when you meet one of the not so nice people, you just move on because there are sure to be at least a dozen good people just on the other side. I've rolled up characters in each archetype and both genders and I've found they all have their own pluses and minuses and their unique challenges in playing them.

I confess to being a bit clumsy--really all thumbs--in navigating early on, but I've gotten more into the swing of things--practice really does make perfect here. I've found that it's not that hard to team if you want to--and to those who I've teamed with, thank you for letting my toons tag along with you. I'd also like to apologize to those teams I might have inadvertently quit. Sometimes, in the midst of battle and my mouse is clicking wildly, I think I might have called up the wrong screen and hit the wrong radio button. Have to learn better mouse control!

Going from primarily single player off-line play to an MMORPG is an interesting experience and one I've been afraid to engage in for a long time. Now that I've played this game--even for only a week--I'm regretting taking so long to take the plunge.

To all those who've helped me out in whatever toon I'm playing in, Thank you! And if I do something that I shouldn't, please feel free to send me a Tell and let me know that that's not the way things are done.

I'll see you all in Paragon City!

    New Player

A lot of people DO still play this game, but currently there seem to be less on-line at any given time. Part of that is the start of school, which tends to pull some players away to concentrate on RL stuff. Part of it is because a couple of intriguing other game released not too long ago and people are checking that out.
I'm a newbie too--I play here and on Protector and Pinnacle. School and work probably do pull people away--I know I'm busy--I had six exams to grade the last two weeks and my classes have assignments due next week that'll have to be graded--some of us are students--some of us teachers. Also, many of us have family commitments and, in my case, I write in a shared Star Trek fan universe and also have a couple of nBSG stories I'm writing, so those keep me busy.

Also, new games like Champions Online and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 have rolled out and people are probably giving them a look-see as the above poster pointed out. I've been meaning to give Hearts of Iron III a look sometime, but never enough time...

I play in both Atlas and Galaxy City as well as run villains in the Rogue Islands and I generally don't have problems finding teams on any of my servers.

And yes, it is a very fun game.

As a player, I like taking my time, especially on AE arcs, to get into the story more than into the action. Having to move from mob to mob in .5 sec in fear of offending someone would piss me off (unless that was decided in advance as being the tactic). I usually stay away from "speed runs" on task forces because of this.
Yeah, I can see what you mean about "speed runs"--I'm the sort of person who likes to get into the story as well. What I did in my team-up last night was to try to stay as long-range support and then come in to buff my teammates up with Healing Aura when needed. Euridyce's not built for the rough and tumble--I leave that for the big boys and girls who can soak up and dish out the up close and personal punishment.
  5. I just joined the game yesterday and played on my first team up last night playing a defender. Had fun doing it, but I'm sure I made my share of newbie mistakes. I'm still getting a handle on chats, tells, etc. I'm a little slow sometimes in reacting--especially if there's a lot of stuff going on. I'm sure I'll improve as I continue to play the game. Your comments here help, but if you see my character playing on your team and I screw up, please feel free to pull me aside after the fireworks and tell me what I've done wrong.
