A world without evil?

Good can't exist without evil.
So obviously I'd become the next great evil.
Balance is a good thing.
Be well, people of CoH.

If we're restricting ourselves to heroes, most of mine have a primary occupation unrelated to being a hero. A quest, if you will. To give a few brief examples, if my hero defeated all evil, they would:
Hide and preferably avoid human contact unless strictly necessary.
Try to lead a semblance of normal life.
Run a business without interruptions.

What do you mean Statesman has "defeated" Lord Recluse? Put him in prison? He could (and let's face it, will) break out. Beat him into submission? I doubt that very much, Recluse yields to no one. Killed him? Looks like Statesman's on the road to becoming Tyrant, in which case heroes are definitely still needed.
Also, SPOILER ALERT! There is no utopia. Evil in the world will never fully go away because good is unable to take the steps necessary to do so without violating the principles which make it good (i.e., evil will always win because good is dumb).

Recluse in the slammer? He'll either rot while someone takes his mantle as big bad or he'll bust or be busted out.
Recluse in a coffin? See above, the latter being very much possible, since someone's bound to have some means to resurrect and/or ghostify the bugger.

Nature abhors a vaccum. A new great evil would arise.
Probably someone who killed Lord Recluse in an alternate future...
total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
In your example, its the greatest evil that gets defeated. So presumably the next greatest evil becomes the greatest. Zealous heroes would eventually bust jaywalkers, (as all other evils have been eliminated) and reveal the great paradox that is a hero. By nature, heroes want to instill control, and thats fairly evil. Social control is very fascist.
The heroes then become the villains. Rebellious meta-humans would rise up against them, disregarding the status-quo to pursue freedom. These would be behaviors that would classify them as villains in the previous world, but due to the current circumstances are considered heroic.
Then we start all over. Lightning strikes, and balance is achieved until there is an inevitable disparity in positive and negative charges again.
Most villains are just born in the wrong time. Someone who goes out and kills tigers today is a villain. 100 years ago they were a hero.
Yes Im aware of the obvious exceptions, lets not make it a discussion about that.
If I this isnt a philosophical question please disregard the above and take the following answer: My hero would open up an ice-cream shop in southern California.
So the question i put to you is this, after defeating all obstacles in your path [ones that are a threat to your power], what would your character do?

(Hasn't there been at least one Superman Elseworlds story along these lines? Absolute power corrupting and all that?)
It is written, "Evil is where Man looks for Evil to be".

Oh yeah?
All your planet: is belong to me!
Robots: Superior
Meatbags: Inferior!
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I think my main character (Mary Grace) would probably just put her feet up, raise a family and be normal. Well, as normal as one can be with super regeneration and the ability to fly around shooting lasers out of your eyes. Doing the shopping at superspeed, flying the dog, and helping her husband fix the car by lifting it so he can get at the underside. You know, what every healthy average family does!
Characters:
The Heroic Mary Grace (50)
The Mystical Thunderspark (50)
The Candy-loving Little Jenny (50)
My heroes would go fight killer robots in their spare time.
Since robots lack the moral capacity to distinguish right from wrong, they can't truly be classified as "evil," so you can't get rid of them by getting rid of evil. And you can't just eliminate all robots, because robots are cool.

Now how would martial arts stop an earthquake?

Oh look the volcano is erupting! Dont worry we'll kick it!

If theres one thing i learnt, its never to kick a volcano . . . .

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Wouldn't a "world without evil" require the extinction of our species?
There is no such thing as an "innocent bystander"

Breaking news! We have confirmation that our hero Statesman has just defeated our nemesis, Lord Recluse! This is a momentous occasion for our small planet and a time of peace is almost at hand! Rejoice paragon city, for a new era is almost upon us!
Earlier today, during one of my daydream sessions while walking home from work [i daydream a lot while walking, makes it go quicker], i was thinking about what would happen to the heroes of the world if we finally did win the battle against evil or defeated their leader?
In our case, would paragon city need heroes if her main enemies of Lord Recluse, Nemesis, Rularuu etc were all defeated? Would the PPD/Longbow be able to curb the minions of the enemy groups without superhero help?
So the question i put to you is this, after defeating all obstacles in your path [ones that are a threat to your power], what would your character do? Would you go around street sweeping until all evil is finally vanquished? Would you go into secret training preparing yourself for the moment when the world needs you one more time? Would you simply go back to a normal life and let the PPD "clean up" the smallfry?
But then the question arrises, if you have defeated evil . . . are you still needed/wanted?
