Quote:I did that one as well. I turned around the corner and I swear there must have been at least 30 Malta! This was at 0/0 +3 and it spawned a red named Gunslinger plus 3 of this gunslinger pals along with sappers, a hercules robot, and all the rest of the gang. I had time to say "Oh Sh--!" and was dead!Let me try my psychic powers....
....I'm getting a vision of a toy....
...An action figure...
...Wearing a brimmed hat and carrying two pistols....
Could it be... A 'Malta Gunslinger Action Figure'?
The ambushes in that mission are ludicrous. I got 12 or 13, with something like 4 second spacing when I did that one. Never again, it gets deleted whenever I get it again. -
Quote:Hello. I have a web show called The RPG Fanatic where I review computer rpg games. I decided to make CoH my first MMORPG review and while I had played the game before (in Dec 2004), I recently re-visited it, playing from level 1 to 50. After doing this I concluded that CoH has some innovative game design elements I wish other MMORPG developers would incorporate into their designs, but CoH also lacks a lot of content I expect an MMORPG to have today. I dissect the game in the review.
I will be reviewing the Mission Architect system in an upcoming review, and thought some of you might like to see my review for the game overall and add your comments. I might include and/or respond to some of those comments in my next review for the MA system.

You seem to compare COH to WOW a great deal. On a side note, since when was "Tank and Spank" + "Spam Healing" = Stragety to defeat Bosses? -
Quote:A strongly worded letter from your lawyer would have prevented 2 weeks of going back and forth with e-mails. It's one thing for a company to CONTACT me to ensure a transaction is legit, it is something else entirely reverse a payment w/o any input from you. After all, you are the customer! Heck you can even send money from Pay Pal via your cell phone! Since it took them several days to do this they should have had enough time to send an e-mail or call!I hate to rain on PayPal's parade (because it's normally pretty good overall) but I feel compelled to let everybody here be aware of a recent problem I had trying to use PayPal and this game. I bring this up mainly because the OP is specifically having trouble paying for this game internationally and that's exactly how PayPal shot me in the proverbial foot.
I live in the United States and have had a confirmed PayPal account and house address with them for years. However a couple of months ago I was on a long business trip in Japan. I decided (foolishly in retrospect) to use my PayPal account to pay for the recent Mutant Super Booster Pack. Despite having a confirmed US address and sending money to a US based company PayPal apparently decided that since I initiated this transaction from Japan that it was a "suspicious" activity. A few days later (when I long thought everything was perfectly fine with it) PayPal unilaterally decided to reverse my payment to NCsoft without any effective warning. NCsoft reacted to that action instantly by banning my CoH account (which up until that time had been active without interruption since April 2004).
The net result is that it took me about 2 weeks of back-n-forth emails across 12 time zones to NCsoft to get a senior support person to unlock my account. Paypal cost me almost 2 weeks of playing (and Vet credit) just because they were "looking out" for my best interests.
Now in the greater scheme of things I guess I should be glad PayPal was being proactive enough that it kept my account safe from even ME using it. Better safe than sorry I guess. But this experience has annoyed me enough that I will refuse to use PayPal to pay anything to NCsoft again, regardless of where I am physically located in the world.

Quote:When I'm bored, I follow them on an incognito window and give all fake information, such as username "no idiot will fall for this". A couple of times I've had the scammers email me back to say "you think you're clever, but we get thousand of accounts this way". While I won't take a scammer word's for it, I don't doubt that they get a lot of accounts; many people forget to bring their brains with them when they go online.
If possible, I take the time to send all of their pertinent information to the right sources such as the company in question, FBI (Internet Fraud), and my local ISP (as spam). I don't know if it actually does any good, but every little bit helps. -
Quote:I kind of disagree with this due to the fact you can name them, talk through them and give them personality with the use of emotes.
The only problem is you can't customize them, which you should. And you don't aways summon a person with the same face/hair features if you are playing thugs/mercs, which again you should be able to dictate.
Ooooo....now there's an update I'd like to see...custom minions! We can already customize (to a degree) powers, why not minions? After all, "Fashion is everything!". -
Quote:Why not just use Pay Pal (for purchases) or time cards for the subscription? I'm getting out of the habit of giving eveyone my CC number. Heck I can even pay some of my regular bills with Pay Pal!It's been a nice six years, and unfortunately it looks like it is going to be cut short for me.
In the last months I kept having problems purchasing boosters, due to the security measures in place in the account management website, and finally since my CC expired, I can no longer update the billing info on my account management page with my new credentials as I seem not to pass the security measures.
Its quite simple really. If you are a Citizen of Country A with Baning in Country A but live in Country B for XYZ reason, the current system will classify you unsecure. Since when you live in a country like country B and are using bank accounts from country A, you must be a dirty criminal.
Last time it took me two weeks to get authorization from NC Soft support staff, after they verified I was really me... by asking obscure questions which did not have actual answers for 90% of them since my account was older than most of their security measures. Finally I was allowed to spend a few bucks to buy an in game booster pack.
Now it seems I have to jump through all these hops again to renew my billing info or even to purchase GR. Since I have, uh had, four accounts that would probably take like a month to actually get done at their speed, so... it seems I will be slowly phased out of the CoH playerbase.
Sorry if this sounded like a rant, not meant to rant but I AM upset since stopping the game was not from my choice. Unfortunately jumping through hoops and answering Call Center draft questions for weeks kind of outbalances the fun I get out of gaming.
I just wanted to post this out there to notify the situation which I thought was quite ironic, and see if maybe anyone on the same boat as me found some other means of continuing to play.
If not, it was fun, and enjoy GR, I know I would have. -
Ugh...I'd rather fight carnies than the Malta.

If you can handle it, go to St. Martial (The Flop). Up near the NW end where the Marcone mobs bump up against the DE, there are plenty of Marcone (boss) to be found.

Quote:i know how the op feels. I invented the perfect character. He was an invulnerability / super strength tanker, and i was going to take fly for a travel power. He was also going to have the laser eye beams when he got high enough in level. I designed a really cool all blue costume with red boots, trunks and cape and a cool "s" logo.
Imagine my disappointment when the name "wolverine" was taken.

From Statesman's recent interview on Eurogamer, it looks like some of it is slated for I6.

You mean whenever States puts down his hand-held and stops fighting 64-bit bosses? Whenever States says ANYTHING I just roll my eyes. He is clueless, and a liar to boot. His team just nods and goes with whatever he says, whether they just don't disagree with him or are allowed to. It shows in the absolute lack of quality in the game.
They added a graphic to the water in Issue 5. In door missions (ie caves) it looks like crap. Good job team!

Is that what's causing the the pools in mission to be like that? Heck, I thought it was my video card...was getting ready to recheck all my drivers. -
(Sigh) Getting tired of MMORPG's undergoing drastic change becasue of PvP issues. Seriously, what's the point of having stealth powers if they are not going to work?
Didn't stealth give you a defense bonus becasue you were hard to see?
Bah...what does it matter anyway? -
All I keep thinking is I hope they remember to send "The Flash (TM)" a memo concerning the change to his powers.
