Took me about 3.5 years to get to 50 with Carni. Only reason I made it was a bunch of nice people from the forums (plus Cynic, he'd never forgive me for calling him nice) nabbed me in a PuG one Saturday night and then made me stay awake until I dinged in the Tyrant mish. Was loads of fun.
I know what you mean about feeling ambiguous about it, but a Warshade does make it worthwhile. In fact my WS is my only other 50, and I felt a lot sadder getting her to 50 because it was so much fun (especially once I got into the 20s).
I feel sorry for you Captain. I remember those good old days but now I must hunt purples and try to play those dreadful Kheldians. I wonder if it would not have been better never to have hit the big 50.

Seriously, with all the blowhards bragging about how they have 49 level 50 characters (was it?) you're still doing pretty well. Personally, though, I'd take the time to take a good, long look at the game and see if your perception hasn't changed now that you have a 50. It changed my view of it, I know that much.Either way, congratulations

dinged 46 yesterday on my scrapper, meaning i went from 45 to 46 in 4 days of play time
bit scary
especially at being 46 w/247 hours of play time
my solo-fender, my original main, is still at 43 and had over 400 hours of play time before dinging 40
with this crazy xp rate i should have 2 50s by christmas, assuming i don't take anymore breaks
