Okay, seriously.

Should I just dismiss my pets every time I leave a mission? Just had someone whine at me for daring to visit the Black Market after hitting my salvage cap. Best part is I sent them off AWAY from the BM before the smartassery began.

Do people just not read the patch notes, particularly about MM minions persisting?

Grr.

/rant off

Sorry. I just.. dislike obtuse people who think they're being clever.

Edit for clarity

Screw 'em. How many people leave obnoxious toggles running? Pets aren't nearly as bad.

How's that for clarity?

This. I'd much rather see pets hanging around than someone running Quills, "Rocking the aura", or with a power like Foot Stomp set on auto.

Slightly less obnoxious than the most obnoxious things is still obnoxious.

If you actually care about BM etiquette, dismiss your pets. Of course, that'd make you one of exactly four people on your server who actually care about BM etiquette.

Even as someone who has two level 50 masterminds and has played every MM set, primary and secondary, to at least 30, the first thing I thought when I saw Posi's tweet about pets zoning in i16 was, "Oh great. Now I'll never be able to click on a Shady or a Facemaker without wading through 34873974 robots jumping over themselves to bubble each other and make clankity clank noises."

That and the fact that masterminds now aggro the whole zone in a wake behind them as they travel.

I guess it's a good QoL buff for masterminds in general, but it diminishes QoL for everyone else.

Not that I really mind, but there's two sides to every coin.

I don't mind them. I spend a good 70% of my time at the BM in Cap, hardly ever seen MM pets there anyway. The only MM pets that are annoying are the robots, the rest are quiet. Especially the ninjas.

It's a lot less common and annoying than the PSW spamming Dom.

I've always been slightly annoyed at players who put their pets or henchmen out immediately in every situation. I prefer to only put them out as needed.

But it's also not my place to criticize them for playing the way they like. Etiquette, common sense, and capable play are the most you can ask for.

Or just tell them to stand outside the area and stay there. A simple 'go to' or 'stay' command suffices, but like you, I wonder how many MM's even know that given the way they (actually don't) move their pets around.

Yes, I've run into people doing that; and the Kheldian Dwarf semi-copy of it too. It's even worse if they do that in the Tailor and your screen starts shaking while you try to modify your costume.

Yeah, especially lately, with I16, people spam their powers at the tailor until they get the color they want. Screen shake galore!

Okay, not to be a dick or anything.

And, as the OP stated, he'd moved his minions away from the BM to not be a nuisance. BUT...

Running Quills, Rocking the Aura, and FS on auto do NOT block access to the shadies in the market. Minions CAN.

I'd much rather put up with the thwack of Quills, an aura, or some doofus who forgot to turn off FS than have to try to wade my way through a sea of minions (who are unmoveable) to get at a the BM personnel because some MM was careless/thoughless/ignorant/etc.

I don't normally have a problem with people leaving auras on or toggles, but I am sort of irritated with all of the MMs running around with the full entourage in tow. As the above poster mentioned, going to the tailor/BM is quite irritating when there are an extra mass of bodies crowding the area...

I really don't see anything wrong with having minions at the BM. Seriously, they do not block your access to the Black Market Shady. If they are you've got something wrong going on. If they don't like MM pets so what? You're obviously there to get your business done and get out. I'd be more annoyed with power spam, although nothing really bothers me using Wentworths or the Black Market. If they get annoyed that easily they've got some issues.

I think the problem is that if the owner hasn't parked them somewhere, minions *can* block access to the merchants, since the only person who can walk through them is the owner. To anyone else, a wall of Ninjas is an impenetrable barrier. Yes, you can move the camera and click on the merchant from straight down, unless he's somehow got a pile of Thugs on him or something, but a lot of people might not think to do that right away. I'm not sure what a good solution is, now that the pets don't auto-kill when you change zones. I think a lot of people would like it if the Black Market and Wentworths were changed to "no power" zones like Studio B, but I don't know how hard that would be to setup. In AE, is Studio B actually a zone where powers simply don't function, or is there a "suppression" NPC hiding in there somewhere, like the Teleport nullifiers in Pocket D?

Unless the MM deliberately places his pets next to the BM rep, they don't block at all. Since pets always stop a few feet behind the MM. But, pets even bots shielding isn't nearly as annoying as someone spamming heal auras. Or the random person who decides to buff everyone standing at the BM. "Yes mr/mrs kin, thanks for the SB, I'm sure my stuff will sell faster now"

They do block, we had a MM convergence on the BM a few days ago. I had to hover in. It's annoying as hell.

I do think the unnecessary Kheldian form changes in Wentworth's are attempts to be annoying; they're about the loudest sounds I encounter from other players.

But the one that bugs me the most is the Build-up noise going off. Some players have Build-up on auto in the markets. Honestly, noise aside, what irritates me is wondering why anyone would put BU on auto? It's much less useful if you don't control the timing of it.

So every time I hear it I get distracted wondering what's going on in this person's playing experience that says, "Hey, I should surrender one of my most valuable tools to random luck!"

This was hilarious.

And I'll take my bots away from the black market when you pull me to the arena over it, thank you very much. And turn off your quills.
