Ambushes are out of control again!

Im set to diff of +1 and spawn of 1 person


I got 4 peeps on my team, we got 4 ambushes sent to us, for 1 hostage at once, with Wardens! at lvl 15


That doesnt sound right, this been happening all day

Reminds me, Ambush size was bout 10 mobs, for 4 of us, while my teams of 8 had 16 or so folks per mobs, we would get 3-4 ambushes at once.


Anyone else have these probs yet? This redside btw

I got mobbed by about 10 council on my defender when picking up a mission that triggers an ambush, who was solo, with team size set to 0 and mob level set to -1.

Such an insult! They were treating you like a blaster--for a defender, they should have sent at least 20.

ambushes to me are one of the highlight points of the action. As long as its not completely impossible to survive a larger group, I'll enjoy the nail-biting "will he make it" combat.

One or two in an ambush, oh puhleees. It better be a Malta Sapper and a Zeus 'bot minimum. Well that, or they're delivering pizza. I may let them walk for that. But anything less, I drop them, then stomp on their corpses until I feel like I've got 10 kills.

It never ceases to amuse me that whenever I get the level 30 tailor mission to take out 30 Crey or however many, I walk out of Icon and see like 2 Medics jumping over the wall. You gotta wonder how that battle plan went.

"Okay! We got a badass level 30 with lots of powers, pretty close to a full attack chain or equivalent thereof, good defense (even of the offensive variety), and likely as not a tried-and-true strategy for dealing with all manner of situations. They now have the nerve to defy our wonderful corporation! You two! What abilities do you have to deal with this situation?"

"Uh, Brawl and Heal Other, ma'am."

"Let's see...looks like Heal Other. And Brawl."

"Awesome powers! Now CHAAAAARGE!"

"Uh, can we borrow the power armor or something because we-"

"Are you still HERE!?!"

How often do you have the time to count the enemies on a full team before they hit the floor dead?

An ambush of 10 for about 4 players sounds reasonable for me. If it was just a standard 3 minions + 1 leiut ambush i'ld be dissapointed! The harder the ambush the better! We need more carnage!

I got ambushed by a sniper in a mission, well at least I think I did. All i saw was the NPC dialog. Either he was so good I couldn't see him, or more likely he never moved from his spawn point.

No, embarrassing was ... what was it, a year? Two? ago, when council ambushes tended to be broke.

Level 30-40s in FF. "OK, guys, there should be an ambush coming after this, I've got a fedex."

What comes running up? A few level 1 Council. (Or maybe level 10. Deep, DEEP grey in any case.)

It used to be that the ambushes in Mayhems and Bank missions scaled more by the player, not the difficulty setting. As such, going to Malicious would make the regular spawns a bit bigger but ambushes would not be affected much.

However, now the ambushes are being affected directly by the "I am equal to X number of players" flag. This leads to regular spawns that are the correct size when set to 2X (which is what the old Malicious did) but the ambushes are now coming at at least triple the size they were before.

Before issue 16, I'd see an ambush of 2-3 mobs. Now I'm seeing ambushes of 6-8 at a time! I did a few LSSL paper missions last night and every time had to fight off about 30 ambush mobs before the mission finally ended.

That was all occurring at this setting: 2 Players, +0 levels, bosses allowed.


Additionally, it'd be nice if there was a subsetting for Bosses that made sure that there will only be a boss at the end of the mission. I like having a boss fight at the end but a lot of my squishies don't enjoy running into a boss every 20 feet even when set to X1 players.

It depends on the ambush group; Rikti are particularly susceptible to this. If you take off rapidly after exiting a mission that triggers an ambush (or accept a mission that triggers one), the ambush spawn can be a mix of fliers and non-fliers, and the non-fliers will get bogged down on the streets while the fliers just come straight after you, so you can wind up getting an ambush of a Rikti Drone, or a Stunner Freak, etc. -- the rest of the ambush is still there, you just outran them, and you'll have to look for them (or stand there and wait for them to catch up) if you want to take them all out.

Ambushes in general were broken. They would show up at the minimum level for the enemy group.

My favorite was that one Malta ambush, in one of Crimson or Indigo's missions. I was in Talos, I had just completed a mission which led straight into another mission....so I prepared for an ambush. Two minions...easy. Ok, ambush dealt with...then the swarm of missiles came flying over the hill. Titans have INSANE range.

Ambushes like that were fun. They kept you on your toes.

My only complaint on ambushes is that i can only have 3 of them in my MA arcs now. I loved having all hell break lose with ambushes. I love it when they really can kill you, especially outside of missions cause then you see what debt really should be like instead of the crappy debt you get in missions now.

Well... is the ambush of Nictus in the 1st mission of the Imperious TF (after you take down the Minotaur guarding Solaris) supposed to be... that ridiculously big? I swore there were 3 separate ambushes after the TF was introduced, but now it feels like all three drop in on the team at once. (And keep in mind they're all boss class.)

That one's always been pretty big. I remember I triggered it by mistake when I was soloing that TF (the total team size at that point was 2, me and a logged off person), and it was HUGE.

The fact that I was set at invincible didn't help... I changed my difficulty afterwards >_>

I noticed this as well on the final mission. In I-15 each ambush during the fight against Romi was generally triggered when the previous ambush was defeated. The last couple of times I ran with ITF though, at least two ambush mobs spawned at once one the fight against Romi began, as evidenced by multiple surgeons spawning. Typically there is only one surgeon per mob, so when two or three surgeons are visible at the door aura'ing away, you know there are multiple mobs out.

Most of the teams I run with do not activate the ambush on the first mission, preferring to go up the backside of the mountain, and aside from a few occasional goof-ups, we don't see anything from the first ambush set.

If outdoor ambushes count, I got a jumbo ambush doing Serge's "Defeat 30 Tsoo" mission in Steel Canyon last night. Solo, Level +0, Team Size 2. I got rolled by one Ancestor Spirit, two Sorcerers, and 7 or 8 minions. Suffice to say, this is much larger than any spawn that appears in a normal mission on team size 2.

Basically any mission with Longbow, All Mayhem Mishes

But one that sticks out, Is Get Wormy Out mission. In Sharkhead, I for life of me cannot recall the contact.


But its horrendous, I noticed Legacy Ambushes where not that bad, but anything that involves Longbow, is out of control.


Also, with Romi, all his Ambushes come at Once now, all 3 or 4, thats a pain in the butt, Ambushes jus all show up at once, not here comes one, its here all 3-6 of em at once, 3x the normal size.
