Purple's

This thread makes me want to go and destroy all of some categories of salvage on the black market. I know it's not strictly related to the topic at hand, but I want to see if I can get someone to come here and complain how they were "forced" to spend 1M inf for something that should go for "no more than 500."

I may go login and do that now. Expect pics if I do it.

the prices on these are too high. WAY too high. 200-300-350-450+ mil? Get real whoever is pricing these.

I have like 14 50s, none of them are fully set up with anything. I've only seen one purple recipe drop and I've been playing since the beginning, and a couple of the other sets. I don't have time to farm and give up my hobbies like sleeping and eating to play all the time, and never will. Where's the "balance" for this , huh?

We'll tell you as soon as we figure out why you think you have to give up eating, sleeping, and other hobbies in order to make that kind of inf.

If IOs, and IO sets, are not needed....then please, please, please explain why when you go to the different AT forums, the builds there REQUIRE LOTG recharge IOs, plural, more than one, they REQUIRE Numinas, they REQUIRE every single IO set out there that is so expensive you are required to have billions and zillions of influence points, and I know I am being dramatic, but I feel dramatic about this...not about the cost...sellers sell at the amount buyers buy, but about the necessity of the sets

Case in point....real life example here, I would love to make a Shield scrapper...I happily went to the scrapper boards to do some homework on the subject, and found out Shields demands IOs...it will not perform well without them

Explain to me, how, in one post these IOs are REQUIRED, or your build will not work, and in other posts your builds will work WITHOUT IOS!!!!!!!!!

Which is it?????

If I go build a Dark/Shield, and solo her with a build filled with Crushing Impacts and Common IOs ....will I die in every fight because I don't have Numinas, and LOTG recharges, four of them, and, and, fight with no accuracy because I had to six slot a set of expensive IOs to get a tiny defensive bonus which I can't see, even being as rotten in math as I am, being large enough to make a difference and, and, oh Fudgesticks....my confusion over this has been building and building and I, I, did a Nova.

If someone can explain this whole mess to me, send me a PM because I am sure I am the only player here who is bitterly confused by this "You NEED IOs, You DON'T need IOs thing...

I played this game before there was a Wentworths. The builds people played were SO, DO, and TO, builds, and they worked. Now, these same builds REQUIRE a bloody fortume in IOs or they will not perform.

...Oh cornflakes, I am going to go into the game, and punch some Hellions in the nose with one of my new toons...but....oh noes my new toons just have TOs in their build, the Hellions will hit them in the nose instead.

Lisa-Leaves thread muttering something about bandaids and LOTG..four of them..yes,that made an impression on me.

...and...thanks for letting me rage. I truly needed to express myself on this matter.

I return this thread back to you all.
If you want to run normal stuff that the devs expect people to run ala radio mishes and TFs and whatnot, SO'd DM/Shield scrapper will do fine. If on the opther hand you want to solo AVs, cut down pylons by yerself and tell a farm group that you'll take this side of the map and they can have the other half, and then take your side and then go help them, then you'll need Sets and expensive crap like that.

I have been playing for years as well, but I only have 3 level 50s, I find it very unfair that you have 14.

Wait no I don't; I made a choice to play my way and you made a choice to play yours.

The funny thing is if your goal was to "IO out" your toons the raw inf to do so is made while you are sleeping and eating.

For anyone who wants the price of purples to go down, complaining on the market forum isn't the answer. Complaining to the devs about borked recipe drop rates with I16's virtual team slider is what you want to do.

That's its whole point.
A dev team who wanted players to be able to choose their reward would not be amenable to such a system.

Your "ideas" are so laughable I'm surprised you haven't melted away from the sheer embarrassment of mumbling them in public.

Either you are just complaining to exercise your lungs, or you are willing to go slightly out of your way to get purples (plural.)

I'm going to assume that you actually want purples, and you're willing to put twenty hours of your life into getting a few sets. Considering how much you play, twenty hours isn't much. So you're mostly going to have to buy them in that time frame (in twenty hours,as you know, you will maybe see ONE purple drop.) So you're going to have to make money in the market. Here's how to start.

Look at a set you DO have slotted that you like. I'm going to say Positron's Blast and then I'm going to look up the numbers. Now look at the raw cost of the recipes FOR THE TOP LEVEL, and the cost for the ingredients. Some of them won't make you any profit, but some of them may. When you do this, don't use positron's blast because I'm shining a spotlight on it RIGHT NOW. If you need ideas: Red Fortune, Aegis, Luck of the Gambler (NOT the global recharge), Numina's (NOT the unique), Impervium Armor at level 40, and so forth. Pick a set, one set.

The first time you do this it will probably take you a half hour.

Setting level range to 50-50, "all" ...

Positron's Blast Acc/Dam, 5 million for the recipe, one Prophecy (1 million), half a million for crafting, it's going to cost you between 6.5 and, say, 7 million to craft this. Wents takes 10% so if you sell for less than 7.77 million you're losing money.

Posi, Acc/Dam crafted, selling for 5 million. Obviously, no money in that.

Acc/dam/end, prices are all over the place for both the recipe and the crafted. There's money in there, but not guaranteed money.

Posi Dam/End, 1.6 million for the recipe, 9-10 million for the crafted. Looks pretty good. You could pay 2 million for the recipe, sell for 8 million and still make around 4-5 million no matter WHAT kinda crazy prices you pay for salvage. And if you put it up for 8.1 million, you will still get paid 9 or 10. Lil' secret for you there.

So you put up bids for two Dam/End at 2 or 2.1 million, you put up bids for two Chronal Skips at 1.2 million ("last five" are 2million, but you can generally get rare salvage for just about a million unless I16 produces some long-lasting effect) and bids up for the uncommon and common salvage, doesn't matter what you pay.

Then the magic part: Logging off or going to do something else.

When you next log on, you should have most if not all of your ingredients. I recommend starting about three different projects in case they don't all work.

Craft them, list BELOW market price (so if it's selling for 10 million, list for 7.1 or 8.1) and go find another niche. Ten of the same thing is a great way to clog the market, clog your market slots and get frustrated. Repeating yourself too much is a good way to let Darwin have a shot at your non-evolving financial schemes.

So that's eventually 8 million profit. If they don't sell over the next couple days, leave them over the weekend. If they don't sell over the weekend (let's say someone blabs your secret niche all over the market forum) CONSIDER repricing them, breaking even, and selling something else.

Note that you are paying MORE than market rates for the recipes, and selling for LESS Than market rates on the crafted. You should be moving stuff rapidly.

Once you've done this on about ten things, made fifty million or so, you should be comfortable enough to go on to other things. Bigger things.

For instance, you can often with patience buy a purple for- I've only done this a couple times, it stresses my nerves- 180 million and sell it for 260 million to someone with less patience than you. I don't know what current purple prices are, exactly, but if you do that, you lose 26 million to market fees, 600K to crafting costs, 2.4 million or so to salvage and clear somewhere around 49 million profit.

If you don't want to go out of your way to get purples, you will lose out to the people who want them more than you do.

Meh, I've skimmed the thread and see nothing more than a "IWANTITNAO" rant about something that was never supposed to be as common as a Fire/Kin on a Farm Map.

I also see some good advice in here, so I'll just glean it and move along. Thanks.

Fulmens what a loverly post, sadly i doubt anyone will put that into practise :P

You have to know the market your selling in, and have io'd out a few toons before you can succesfully control a section of the market.

There's certain ios which can be used depending on the fotm. keep that in mind.

FTR, I don't TO/DO/SO my DM/SD scrapper, nor does she have Hamis and purples, standard IO sets only, and she is more than capable of taking on an AV solo, TYVM.

Just become a major farmer with 2 or 3 accounts like the others (and myself) who have many purps or play WW (unlike myself). Playing the content isnt goin to help much, imo. I've ran plenty of ITF's and other high end TF's and missions and have never had 1 purp drop. I HAVE farmed my BM map over the past several days and have had 3 drop. (all on wifes account, btw) That, my friend, is the answer to purples.

A fire/kin and fire/rad is a 2 account awesome farm combo imo. Set to 8, +0, so they're all 50's and blaze thru a map in like 15 minutes. Full salvage in 2 runs and almost full recipes in 2 runs. I'm getting a purp on every 5 runs or so.

The whole purple shortage started with AE. Less people running regular farms meant less purps dropping. Less supply = more demand and prices go up. Although it looks like drops are bugged atm people seem to think purps are still dropping normally. My friend got 3 purps in 3 farm runs yesterday so things are looking good from what I've seen. Hopefully the death of boss farms will help bring the prices back down to a reasonable rate.

I agree that purps should be rare, but I dont think they should go for over a bil per set (depending on what set).

I guess it could be worse. They could go for pvp io prices...

Actually, it started with merits. A lot of people started exemping down to farm merits in flashbacks, TFs, etc., and that meant less people playing in the 50 range, so prices on purples started to go up.

Then AE came along and made the situation a whole lot worse.

Yeah bro. if you think purples are "unattainable" then you need not ever play any other MMO on the market.

I'm short on teh purples myself, but it keeps me coming back to the game

Well, I'm not going to apologize, because there is no double post. The two consecutive posts I made earlier - like 3 weeks ago! - are replies to different posts.

I don't know who's having a bad hair day, but make it evident who you are when you hand our your negative reps before you make any more false assumptions. Thank you.
