What annoys me about these threads refering to a "purple problem" is that everyone who ever makes these threads want instant gratification. They want enhancments the easy way, has it ever occured to anyone that because they're ultra rare you have to work hard to get them? You may not have time to farm constantly for an hour every day but you know what you can do? You can learn how to buy and sell at went worths to get closer to your goal of achieving those enhancements and if you choose to not use that system that has been put in place to make money then that is your choice but you forgo any right to complain about purples being to hard to obtain.

So I invite you to educate yourself about how to buy and sell at went worths and make influence there just like i and others have done because the developers will never lower or change anything refering to the drop rates or how you obtain them then their current avenues.

So stop complaining and learn how to make money

Precisely.

I'll bring up again the case of a young sgmate. He's about 16-17, plays baseball/soccer goes to high school/has a social life. About 3-4 hours a week total and his Fire/Kin is purpled and his Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Scrapper is very well kitted, sans purple?

But, that's impossible you say? How did he do it?

He sold every. single. thing.
He paid attention that some recipes could be bought at 50 very cheap and resold for vast profits.
He cashed in tickets for salvage and random Bronze rolls.
He crafted and sold every. single. thing.

In one week he went from having 5 million on hand to well over 250,000,000. While he was playing, he got a Ragnarok proc and a Immob purple. He sold those just now for arond 90 million together.

Still don't think it's possible?

Here's what I've been doing for the past three weeks because of an overloaded work schedule:

Imperious Task Force three or four times a week (30 minutes - 45 minutes)
Hamidon Raid (1 hour, 1.5 hours)

About four to five hours ingame at most. I've cashed all my Merits on 40-44(45) recipe rolls, I've crafted and sold everything and raked in the cash. I've also started selling Hallowe'en salvage and made bushels there.

Please...if you want the purples, play your 50s, sell your drops and work toward them. Eventually you'll make so much money that not only the purples but all other items will be available too.

Here here!

Howabout we go a bit closer to home than the "I know a guy". Not casting aspersions, just it's always easy to claim "I know a guy". So, without further ado, I present:

Me.

I have a level 19 Brute who's currently sitting on over six MILLION in inf. How? Marketing. He's been played a grand total of three DAYS (since creation, not total play time).

I also have an tanker that got his start during the DXP weekend and had about 4 days of play. He's at 25 and similarly sitting on about 6 mil. Now imagine what I could do by playing them for several months.

And I'm not talking about spending hours and hours in the market. I log in, hit the market, clear out my bids, place new ones and put up anything I still have for sale. Then I go kick butt until something fills up. I then head back to the market, rinse and repeat.

I'm frugal with my enhancers (been leaving them go until I can attempt to combine them with the next level up), I haven't IO'ed yet (waiting until around 30-32 before I start).

By the time these guys hits 50, they're going to be able to just do outright buys of anything they want, save purple SETS (though with the luck of the drop, you never know).

Again, I'm a frigging LAZY marketeer compared to some of these guys. So if I can have sub-20's and early 20's rolling in inf in under a week, ANYONE can.

Christ...I sound like a frickin' infomerical.

Play IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES and we'll not just give you a second IO'd character, we'll throw in not ONE, not TWO, but THREE of these rares you can only get if you call this number now! That's a set worth five-hundred million for just TWENTY-NINE NINETY FIVE!

I thought about that when I was writing that and it still goes back to instant gratification. In life anything that is worth it is usually difficult to obtain or achieve, hence why superiors will stay ultra rare.

Exactly what I am talking about a person with little play time per week making a lot of influence. People who complain about not having superiors are either ignorant to the fact that you can make a lot of influence using went worths or they choose not to because it is hard to understand. Either way they're complaining about an issue that they're not willing to resolve with some work involved. No I am not talking down to anyone or on a high horse but I am pointing out a fact.

I know it's easy to get frustrated at the impossibility of stopping the infestation of these complaining threads throughout the forums, but remember to play nice with the other kids.

Also, boo to no bbcode for strikethrough! Anyone know how to do it on our forums, or is it not enabled? If not, could I request it of the admins? Pretty please?

I disagree. A good, swift boot to the head might be very good for them as well!

I'm not closed-minded, but I am definitely lazy when it comes to marketeering. Luckily, I play a lot and run usually a few task/strike forces every day, spending my merits on random rolls and selling what I don't need (and what I do need goes into my base bins until I have a character that can use it). Thanks to enough playtime and a bit of luck, I'm about 80 million inf away from my 5th or 6th billionaire (should hit it today if the two enhancements I have listed sell).

Famous last words.

I've heard things like that before on this forum. The famous "it will never happen" thing. Most of the stuff we've gotten over the last few years were proclaimed "never going to happen" on these boards.

I'm not even sure a person has to work that hard to become filthy rich. I certainly don't study the market and I'll never worry about cash again. Mostly I just love playing my 50s...that's it. Big whoop.

And if you ask me, purples are highly overrated. They aren't even close to being worth what they go for. I just finished building a Scrapper that is nigh untouchable (SR). Probably the toughest character I've ever made. Zero purples in his build. I think they would actually decrease his performance. The set bonuses for one thing aren't that great.

So heck, just play your 50s and sell those purple drops for the insane prices they go for and outfit every character to the max with sets that really matter.

I dunno about you but when I was in school, people who were willfully stupid and lazy, got called on it. Didn't your parents teach you 'the truth shall set you free'? Tell the truth, call a spade a spade (and not 'a shovel' because someone might get offended), and be free.

We're talking about a whole different level of lazy. What you described doing isn't lazy marketeering.

We're talking about people who apparently feel they should simply be GIVEN purples. Because...well...they did the devs a "favor" and logged in.

True. They're somewhat useful when assembling a recharge intensive build. HOWEVER, they're uselesss for builds that are looking to max Defense/Resist/End management. Worse, they can actually exacerbate problems (like End management) on some builds.

I didn't say your foot had to be in the boot. Fill it with concrete and then perform an orbital bombardment on them.

Or you can maximize your chances like i have and get a 3rd account to farm with. 3x the drops. I get a purple drop on one of them every couple runs OR keep running AE farms (normal farms, not bosses) because they still give 100% of the rewards. 3 runs= 3gold rolls.

um, wait. Drops are based on enemies defeated and then given to a random team member. If you clear a map of 200 enemies, you have 200 chances for a drop - regardless of how many are on the team.

Or do you mean that each account is in a different mission? That would work.
