Least used power combinations
I have a couple of unusual combinations that I made specifically because I'd never seen one. I know of only one other DM/EA brute on Defiant. Much like one of the posters above, made before any DM/EA changes were made recently. As they also said, plays way more like a scrapper than any other type of brute and you need to go a little nuts to get your Fury. EA still sucks and needs buffed though. Might have a go at soft capping her, might make her usable. Mae Hemme in my Sig.
My other Brute, Tess Lacoil was made Elec melee/Fiery Aura. I've never been a fan of elec armour (any Res based set needs a self heal IMO) but I really liked the sound of Electrical melee and had never played Fiery Aura into double figures. They don't work that well with each other and the journey to 50 was long, slow and painful. Slow animations made fury building a perilous exercise in patience, kamikaze moments and aggro grabbing. Alongside having relatively poor Damage res to anything but Cold and Fire it made her seem so squishy that I really honestly considered deleting her about half a dozen times. very frustrating but Lightning Rod has made all the difference in the world and she's now one of my favourite characters. She originally started out as an Elec Blast Defender but got bored of Elec blast pretty quickly so re-rolled villain side using the same name.
I also had the first Kin/Rad Defender on Defiant but I have to say she's been pretty much put out to pasture, which is a shame. I find if a kin is required or will come in handy my Earth/kin 'troller is just so much more versatile. IMO (and STRICTLY IMO) Kinetics for controllers is broken and is probably the reason for their 300% Damage cap.
I haven't seen that many BS/Invuln scrappers around which is strange cos I think they work well and once you have parry well slotted become very survivable, even in big mobs.
one toon that I find dull in the extreme is my FF/Dark on union. She's just so boring with little in the way of excitement about her at all. Shame because the name, Bubbleglum is fantastic for a dark ff defender. I might consider making her an MM, Zombies/FF but I don't enjoy MM's all that much. Don't see any other FF/Dark defenders and never have.

I've never seen a Fire/Shield Brute except for my level 6
Psychic Blast/Fire Manipulation blaster.
It is the only combination I can think of I have never seen. EVER. I have seen at least one of every other combination, but I have never laid eyes on a Psychic/Fire blaster of any level, let alone a 50. |

I never got liking blaster until i created Mindfire... now I have another blaster reaching 43, and a third going to the 30ish levels...

Apparently people thought Grav/Energy doms were impossible to play - my husband cheerfully got one all the way to 50 (and not by grinding) and LOVES that character. He has also proven that a grav/en dom can be a surprisingly effective PvP combatant, but I think that has more to do with his play style...

Heroside: Never seen a sonic/arch, sonic/psi, sonic/rad, sonic/energy, or sonic/elec.
Can't recall any mind/thermals, ff/arch, rad/arch, or grav/sonics.
(I do have a 50 Grav/TA, though)
In response to a few of these - I have a MA/DA on Guardian who is lvl 39 or so. I also have a Psy/Fire Blaster over on Potector. A Fire/MM, too! I love both.

I have an Archery/Electric Blaster just because they're two sets I haven't done. I don't really like her very much. Her sets don't flow, they cause redraw, and neither one really has any bonuses that can hold weight by themselves. I never use her melee because it just scatters, and I don't need the endurance drain. She doesn't have spectacular AoE (at least not compared to Archery/anything else) or single target damage. She's not a mez machine or highly durable.
I would've liked Archery/Energy more since it would've given me better ST and at least Boost Range so I can hover and snipe better. Archery/Elec just doesn't flow at all.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I don't think I'll ever make another Energy Melee Tanker.
Slow Animation times combined with only one real AoE outside of Taunt make for an aggro control nightmare. If I had known it was a scranker set to start, I probably wouldn't have gone for it.
If I combined Energy Melee with Dark, Fire or Ice armors, it might...MIGHT alleviate the horrid aggro control situation afflicted on me by EM due to the large amount of aggro control inside those Armor sets, but with almost anything else it's just FRUSTRATING.
I've been dealing with this problem once a week for 2-3 years now.

As for other rare toons mentioned in this thread I have an Elec/Devices blaster who is quite cool... a Claws/DA scrapper and a TA/Dark Defender (the defender is quite painful tho so she may not survive forever)
Someone mentioned Plant/Electric dominators - my hubby has one of them!
I've got an AR/Mental. Much, much better than my Fire/Elec, at least for my playstyle.
Zombies/TA is a combo I don't see very often, though a very fun one.

Not only mine as well, but my first 50. It seems that working the combos at high fury is a devastating sight to behold. No other AT/Power combo meshes with my mindset as much as this. DB/WP FTW!! (For me)
Unusual combos to me would be Psi/Elec Blaster, Stone/EM tanks, and Emp/Elec Defenders. Though I have one of each, I never seem to run into any.

I have a 32 Mercs/Poison on Freedom. My second-highest Villain. Not the fastest killer ever, that prize would go to my Thugs/Dark, but it's a good combo if you're willing to liberally throw those debuffs around.
Well, the "problem" with Elec Blast's end drain is that either you drain the enemy completely dry, or you may as well not bother trying to drain them at all. It's possible to do, but you need either a) a complementary set that also has -end, b) someone else complementing you with -end, or c) to hang around waiting for your -end powers (mainly Short Circuit) to recharge so you can use it again. Using your other attacks will take the enemy out long before you drain them dry, in which case Elec's secondary effect is flashy but not of any real practical use.
It's not an irretrievably sucky set or anything, it does have a hold, a pet (more or less), decent-enough damage, and it's quite end-friendly. And hey, one of the best-looking nukes in the game, imo (edged out only by Nova and Atomic Blast). For my tastes though it's just kinda dull, and I can't stand the sound of it. Sorry sound guys, by and large you do a wonderful job, but I break out my Storm Summoners for a lightning fix.
