The fanbase of CoH is decent in terms of being a profitable MMO but might as well be nonexistent in Hollywood terms. Interview 100 random folks and the odds will be extremely high that none of them have heard of CoH. Contrast that to WoW that has millions of fans. I could see Uwe Boll hired on to do a WoW movie.

In terms of story, the CoH canon is certainly pretty rich as a game world setting but nothing special in terms of creating a screenplay. I just fail to see why anyone would consider a CoH movie a potentially profitable venture.

IIRC, the guy buying the rights was of the attitude "throw special effects, superheroes, and aliens on the screen, and who'd care about STORY?" Honestly, though... I agree. I can't see the merit in a live-action movie centering on the Rikti war, as the original press releases indicated.

My thinking is, it's been hard enough to get people in the seats for comic titles that have big budgets and recognizable names attached, even when they're known properties. A CoH movie has things in it's favor, but also a lot of things against it when it comes to getting a movie made.

Frankly, in the next 1-4 years, we're due for a glut of comic movies, and one about a property that only a couple hundred thousand gamers know in any detail will almost definitely NOT get the Money People to pay to make it, much less get people in the seats.

I can think of at least a half dozen movies coming in the next few years that will trump anything they could come up with for CoH, and that's just off the top of my head.

Now, a CoH TV series that consciously avoids anything and everything that Heroes has done to alienate its fans over the last few years...

A CoH TV show would totally not work. Heroes worked (we're speaking of when it was good here) because of the drama and whatnot. CoH doesn't have any of that; it has people in tight pants punching things. Lett's be honest, the closest CoH has ever come to drama was Manticore's and Sister Psyche's wedding. It simply wouldn't be enthralling as a TV show.

On the other hand, a CoH cartoon would be fantastic.

Swan is also 6 feet tall...

Uwe Boll actually went to the Blizzard offices and OFFERED to make a Warcraft movie. They kicked him out...

True story.

Her legs look more like muscle than fat, anyway. Some people cannot afford super-strength without muscles ruining their looks.

Edit: Whoops forgot there's a second page when I typed this
This is the internet, where women you'd crawl over broken glass for in real life are dismissed with a "she's only a 9.5 out of 10, so not up to my usual standards".

So Swan is too fat, Sister Psyche's hair is too red and Dominatrix isn't harsh enough.

The Rikti Commander can be played by John Travolta.

I wouldn't be surprised if the guy that got the rights to the movie had no intentions of making a movie at all.

I'm reasonably sure they just got an "Option" to the movie right? That doesn't mean they will make it, it just means they can if they want to, and no one else can...

All-Star Cast:
Statesman= Definitely Gerald Butler.
Manticore= Nicolas Cage, for the angst.
Sister Psyche= Alyssa Mylano. Hot. She could have a thing with Ghost Widow...
Back Alley Brawler= Michael Clark Duncan. No one else could play this better.
Synapse= Will Smith. Why not?
Lord Recluse= Hugh Jackman. Because he looks like he could be buds with G. Butler. Remember, the characters were buds before they found the Well of The Furies...
Ghost Widow= Liv Tyler, mostly because she is hot...
Mako= Chris Kattan, because he needs the work.

ok we gone past the point were I think you are kidding! there has been big movement in comics to Change female characterization over the years and it is light years than it was in the early years of comics. yes the women are generally very sexy but they have personalities and kick butt and don't need a man to save them. You rather that every woman in comics was lois lane again?

No one should ever take me serious when I'm making Futurama references. Now if I was making Code Geass references... yes, you should take me very serious. But I'm not. And you shouldn't.

Don't know what your position is or what type of company you work for, but I'd say a 'no youtube' policy without flat out blocking youtube is a good thing, as there are going to cases where watching a video on youtube would actually be benficial (again, it varies by the job). Your IT department should have no issue tracking your activies online (both at the gateway level as well as by local monitoring), so they can still know if you're goofing off on youtube.

I'd say an IT department that treats the employees as adults is a good thing. Far too often I see IT departments that think the employees are there to serve them, while in fact the IT department's role is to make the employee's job easier (no, 5 megs of space for email is just a stupid idea! hard drive space is DIRT CHEAP).
