HeroCon 2009 - Justice Server Events and Attendance

Niv posted all the HeroCon 2009 information today, so it's a good time to start making your plans to attend!

Red Gren is trying to put together an event that some of you might be interested in, and it has me wondering if any other events are planned as well.

We talked about going to dinner Friday night at Buca di Beppo, and there is also some interest in going to In-n-Out Burger at some point in the event.

So, who all is coming, and who is interested in doing what?

And are you all as excited as I am?

Meh. I'll probably still be in Japan.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

I checked. From the east coast (Canada), it would cost me $1500 for the plane ticket alone... Can't do it.

That's understandable and I can completely empathize with not being able to afford to go. Particularly considering how rough the economy is right now. But just because you can't go doesn't make it a "local" event (especially considering the overwhelming number of non-locals who attend). By that line of thinking, I could call GenCon a "local" event...and we all know that certainly isn't the case.

That doesn't mean the event is only for local people. It only means you can't afford it at this time. Sorry, I know that can be tough. I have friends in Canada I'd like to visit more often, but it is expensive. That doesn't mean only Canadians or locals can visit my friends, it just means I have other financial priorities. See how that works?

I'm excited. I have my ticket and hotel room reserved and now have to make flight arrangements.

I'd like to do the Bucca dinner and I definitely want to go to that place with the bacon waffles again. My goodness, those were good!

Have you tried Yapta.com? They monitor your selected flights/dates and keep an eye on the rate fluctuations. Maybe you can score a slightly lower fare.

Just a thought.

Just frustrating as I LOVE this game so much and can never attend any event, meet and greet, etc. Champions Online attended the Toronto FanExpo last year!! (not that it'll make me go to CO - I am not interested in the game), but it would be nice to appear at least one time in the 5 years they have been around...

I can afford it, but I can't justify $1500+hotel+ food, etc to my wife...without a punch to the face! LOL!

MY trip can't be written off as a business cost...

Hey Mardun,

I'll talk to my Sgt. when I get back to work later this month. (Love being on holidays) He knows a good website for cheap plane tickets. Only catch is that you'd have to fly from an American city. But I've seen flights there and back for 200 american per person. So if you are decently close to an American airport I may be able to help you out.

As much as I'd love to be there I don't see it happening as the wife and I have a VERY busy schedule for the next few months...

I will be there, along with my best friend Floorman...got the tickets, and reservations at Chateau de Frere

Waiting to see how things shape up at work between now and October before getting tickets/hotel reservations. Crossing my fingers that things shape up and tickets/rooms don't sell out between now and then. I suppose worst-case scenario, I can still drop by to hang out in the hotel lobby and play HeroCon groupie.

HeroCon Tickets: Check!
Hotel Reservations at the nearby La Quinta Inn for $55/night, saving about $150: Check!
Transportation to, from, and all points in-between: We're working on it!

So, who's willing to chip in toward a plane ticket for some random attendee who otherwise can't make it this year? I can't do that sort of thing *every* year by myself...

I will be there and I will be entering the costume contest this year (provided I get my costume done in time).

Yes it will be a costume one of my characters wear!!!!!

That's right.... I went there...

Do ANY of your characters wear pants?

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

The place with the bacon waffles would be Holder's Country Inn. (Link provided so directions can be obtained independently of the locals. Please note that there are 3 Holder's Country Inn locations & 2 Country Inn Cafe locations.)

I'll recommend the Saratoga Avenue location again even though the drive is a bit more complicated.
It's the closest & I think the atmosphere & service are better than the alternatives.

P.S. We are going to make sure Bob makes it right? I'm pretty sure he'd NEVER forgive us if we left him behind!

Bob and I are all set with our hotel reservations and plane tickets. With splitting the room between two people, the trip out there from Philadelphia is running us $470 a piece, which isn't all that bad. I could certainly go for bacon waffles, and obviously there is no need to question if Bob would as well.

Oh yeah... someone remind me to ask them to hold off on the powdered sugar on my bacon waffle.
