I personally take no offense. Austin is great, when it's not trying to kill me with cedar and oak pollen for 6 months of every year. This was one hot and miserable summer and, though I love that I can grow a hibiscus plant on my porch, I would give anything to again be able to walk among the redwoods every day.

Also, people in Texas are terrible drivers. I mean the worst I've ever seen in my life with the exception of my own father. I can't speak for all of Texas, but Austin seems to be the red light running capital of the US and no one here seems to understand that the left hand lane is the passing lane. And everything really is bigger in Texas, except for the itty bitty parking spaces which don't fit any of the giant trucks and SUVs that take up two at a time.

Every place has its issues - Texas is no different, no matter what the natives try to tell you.

Manoa is right a about the BBQ, though. Before I moved here, I only thought I knew what barbeque was. Texas schooled me on that and I'm grateful.

I dunno...Texas BBQ is good, but so is Memphis BBQ...tough choice.

The people are friendly though, and Dallas is one of the few cities of respectable size I'd even consider living in.

I like Texas barbecue, but my favorite is Carolina barbecue. Hmmm!

Frog, my friend, if you think the jerkwads in Dallas are nice, you need to come to Austin.

Yeah, the jerkwads in Austin are even nicer.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

But you're on the nose for Texas hospitality! Such a friendly and welcoming bunch of people that live in those parts.

P.S. You forgot to mention that no one can do BBQ like Texans! Texas BBQ...*drool*...
Austin humidity? I think Houstonians, Floridans, New Orleanians and St. Louis-ians (HA! I made myself laugh!) know what REAL humidity is...

I've been to all those places except New Orleans, and I can tell you that Ohio can give them all a run for their money. It's not unusual for us to get up near 100 and have 98% humidity. And it's usually when I'm camping.

But you don't get summers that are up in that range for four or five months. Having lived in south Louisiana for my formative years, you get hot, sticky humidity for a looooong time. It's not good.

Austin humidity isn't bad.

To you and Goober, because you've lived in or been to worse places. I come from Northern California. I've never been to Houston, Louisiana, or Florida. Austin humidity is hell on me. I moved here at the start of August when tropical storms were heading for Houston. While I'm sure it was much worse there, here in Austin the humidity was shocking and totally hellish because it was totally different than what I had lived in for my entire life. I remember thinking that since my new apartment was a mile from my new office, I'd walk to work. I left my apartment, locked the door, headed to the gate, and barely made it to my car, which I drove to work with the AC blasting.

It's about perspective. Mine is different from your own and much closer to Arwen's. Austin humidity is bad. And there's a reason I'm not in Houston, Louisiana, or Florida.

It's official, Lady Shroud and I will be attending. I just booked flights and room and got the HeroCon tickets.

Unfortunately, we don't get in until later Friday night, so we'll miss the dinner. But we're excited to be going again. See you crazy Justicites there!

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I know that I won't be making an offer, after that line, to stop at a Potbelly's and bring some with me on the plane for ya.

Catch the wink? I was kidding. I've been to Texas many times, Houston, Dallas, Lubbock, Odessa/Midland, and others. I spent a two semesters as a consultant at Rice University. I liked it there very much. My favorite band is Texan to the core (The Reverend Horton Heat).

I was totally kidding. I didn't realize you Texans were so thin-skinned. (<---wink)

Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yay! It'll be good seeing you guys again! Especially since I got to talk to you all of three seconds because I was chasing down Ex during the live event.

Yes, I want to see more of you guys this time. Hopefully there will be time in the jam-packed schedule for schmoozing, and this year maybe they'll give us enough tables so some of us don't get shunted to overflow land!

Heya guys.

On hero con, i had been a maybe up until a few days ago but everything fell into place for me again so i'll be there. I will also make it for the dinner this year too but again minus my Sassy one

She is off to a far away place for the majority of October so i have to entertain myself elsewhere again lol. Hopefully i get to spend more time with the Justice table this time around. Now to find a room in the area for Friday and Saturday...hmm

And we have a schedule!

Well, mostly. They have all the events listed, but no times as of yet. Here's hoping that the Friday night event (which I am REALLY looking forward to!) doesn't conflict with the Justice dinner!

As long as they don't choose board games like Civilization I think you'll be ok!

Yes, those would be fun! As would Apples to Apples and some Fluxx.

Whooo, Settlers! I'd certainly be up for that and some other games.

Board games? I'm afraid my skills don't go much higher than Trouble and the pop-o-matic cube.

I think that the board game I saw mentioned that they played at PAX was Apples to Apples.

At least I think that was it. Someone mentioned playing it with pohsyb is the only reason it really caught my attention.
