Friendly, helpful and surprisingly light on the drama.

There are some great games they listed. If anyone hasn't tried Dominion, play it. It's a fabulous game. I wish I could bring a couple from my collection, but I won't really have the room. Though some of the smaller ones will fit (maybe Zombie or Martian Fluxx or Chrononauts). If Munchkin is played, then I think it would have to be Super Munchkin, given the nature of the event.
Oooh, board games!!!

I would so be down for some Fluxx, especially the Zombie version. It rather fits the season, you know?

Damn I loved that game when I was a kid. In my group of gamers (10 or so strong), I was never the best at strategy games. I was good, no slouch, but rarely won. I played with really smart people. There was something about the way Civilization was put together, the fact that you have to balance culture and war, that played into my strengths somehow. I won that game every time we played it, against far better gamers than I. I miss it.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Maybe I'll bring my copy of Zombie Fluxx. Or maybe I'll buy the new Martian Fluxx...

Oh I enjoy the game as well, but it does tend to run long & I was just pointing out other games can wrap up in a couple of hours & so if some folks miss the beginning of the gaming, they could get in on a later starting game.

Try THAT with Civilization!
BTW if you hadn't tried it, IIRC "Age on Renaissance" plays much like "Civilization" but can come to a conclusion quicker. You might be able to get a group together more often for that. A bunch of buddies & I used to get together every New Year's Eve for a game of Civilization. It was the only time we could find when everyone could afford the time!

At least I think that was it. Someone mentioned playing it with pohsyb is the only reason it really caught my attention.
