I know this is beta but cmon! I was just playing earlier. Logged out, then logged back and CAN"T LOG IN. I get this message:
"The specified executable is not a valid Win32 application."
WTH!!??? -
Quote:I like this! Nice colour selection! This is London Gryphon, this character is still level 28, but I have it for a few years now.
Just upgraded to look more like a "real" Gryphon (well, as real as a mythological beast can be)
Reference of a "real" Gryphon here (the only thing missing is eagles fangs as hands parts) -
This thread really inspired me to give more effort to the market.
Last night, I made a ton of influence (well, alot for me). The most I made at one time ever. Very funny.
Thanks all! -
Quote:Well, I was referring to the argument of "not fair" about the vet rewards.I wouldn't say the devs have "ate it up".
Notice they're militantly NOT doing anything about ratcheting down player controls on the market. If they were going to fiddle, the market merger would have been the time to do so.
If anything, they made bulk traders MORE efficient.
The market is the market. Just like in real life. People get what they get and should get over it if they don't. imo -
Quote:I agree with this.Have you put in the same amount of time and development of your toon that they have? If not, why would you reasonably expect parity with them. Ask them to hunt up how many hours their toons have played.
[/IMG]
This is what bugs me about why the vet reward program became crap. Because all the cry babies thought it was unfair that their 3 months in game wasn't rewarded like the 7 YEAR person. Boo hoo.
This whole game generation of "gimme for nothing" is tiresome. It is sad the devs ate it up. -
I am not great with Wentworth, but have lucked out on some things.
Recently I needed a certain item to complete a recipe. The lowest price listed was 5 mil. I made offer of 100 (to be a smart ***). A week later, I won one of the items. Lesson here - relax and take your time.
Some people can play the market well ( like friends of mine). I don't worry about it. Gratz to those that have figured out how to succeed. -

Here is one I made. I have a feeling the majority of the animals will be felines.
I am disappointed that they didn't create animals for each of the ears they supply, ie: RABBIT!!!!! -

For those of you that don't know, I have played, uninterrupted, City of Heroes since beta (6+ years). My main is MarDun (Fire/WP Scrapper). The concept was actually "born" during my pen and paper rpg days of Villains and Vigilantes.
Here is my latest commission from BAKART (http://bakart.deviantart.com/) MarDun on his home planet. Such an amazing and epic feeling picture! Caught the essence of MarDun perfectly!
MarDun's Story:(adapted part of the story to fit the DC Universe as well - I am a huge DC fan) Sorry for any grammar or typo's...
MarDun was born on the planet Terrastradus (also known as sector 3409) to the Dragon Warrior Clan* in the city of Perocias. (*See description of Clans)
*The four ruling Clans of Terrastradus are: Dragon Warrior (military), Senestras (political), Trivovas (labour/Engineering), and the Gelletrands (arts) The Dragon Warrior Clan is the only clan that includes Dragon Kind in its ranks.
MarDun was born with his abilities from the planets evolution involving the natural genetic link between the Dragon kin of his planet and his Terradians people. Genetically, they are the identical species, but physically, they are different. From the age of five (Earth years) all Dragon Clan learn to develop their skills and powers with the guidance of and elder Tiran (TerraDian teacher) and a DragaKin (Dragon Kind teacher).
MarDun so excelled at the art of combat and fire manipulation that he was made the youngest Drago-Su-Kahn (Officer) in the history of the Terra Warriors* of his own military unit. MarDun led many victories over those forces that abused their powers and acted without honour* and rose to fame amongst his people, enemies, and those he aided. After successfully repelling an invasion by the Terradians mortal enemies, the Saravans, he was awarded the highest honor of his people Dragon Mark (inscribed onto his shoulder with the fire of the eldest dragon)
*The Terradians are not invaders of worlds, but have evolved to become peace keepers. They protect weaker planets from races that would take advantage of their inferiorities. Many times called upon to help the righteous races defend against the dishonourable.
*The Dragon Warrior Clan has also been nicknamed the Terra Warriors by allies and enemies alike do to their precise, unstoppable and devastating combat tactics.
Later, the two controller Clans of the planet (Dragon Clan Warriors and the Senastas) fell into a civil war. The disagreement came when the Senastas were found giving aid to dishonourable worlds that wished to conquer weaker systems. They made alliances with war criminals* and mortal enemies that were once defeated by the Terradians and who never changed their evil ways. The world was divided
*Mortal enemies are the Sarkovegins
After a bloody 3 year civil war and with the help of many dishonourable enemy nations, the Senastas defeated the Dragon Warrior Clan. Terrastradus fell into the darkness of the evil powers that ruled. The Dragon Clan were refused to surrender or recognize the new occupying government* and were deemed enemies of the home world.
*New government consisted of: Senastas Clan, Sarkovegins, Barkglovas, and Kingreg representatives.
Unable to secure help from the Green Lantern Corp of OA (due to the Blackest Night war), and having no allies left able to stand with the Dragon Clan, they had to leave Terrastradus. The Dragons of the clan went deep into the Terradon Mountains and into the deepest and hottest fire pits the planet offered in order to be free from the new tyrant rulers. With the help of the Guardians on OA, the Dragon Clan was taken in as refugees throughout the universe. They wait for the day to build their Clan again and to take back their once prosperous and honourable planet. MarDun, ever dutiful, decided to make the troubled planet of Earth his home. With the help of the Earth Lantern Hal Jordan, MarDun was able to establish himself as a guardian of justice, by teaming with Hal to defeat the remnants of the defeated in the Blackest Night war. He has also assisted the Justice League in the rebuilding of the Earth defences through patrols and enforcement.
MarDun waits for his return to Terrastradus in victory

Quote:I was just venting in general over the contests. Not specifically this one.Actually, 7/8 prizes (six mice & a laptop) were awarded randomly as long as you at least cranked out a crude MS Paint image. Only the 8th (grand prize) looks like it was determined by artistic merit.
Whether or not the 8th should have been is another question. I'm pretty sure the rules said all the prizes would be determined randomly but I also wondered why NCSoft would want to make you a plaque for randomly selected "Super Tractor-Tread Frog-Face Girl" when said 'character' obviously doesn't exist in City of Heroes and was just submitted to win a prize. I think it was another case of whoever wrote the rules not having a clue and then the rules not really being followed because they conflicted with what the client wanted.
I agree (re: person writing rules not knowing game). Perhaps NCSoft marketing should take more care and set some standards for their contest both internal and external. -
SURPRISE:
ANOTHER (as always) contest from COH that requires you to have the ability to draw. Same entries and people.
Don't get me wrong, the fault of these one sided "contests" are not the fault of the artists, just the people that arrange the "contests". Good luck to all those that enter.
Don't get all crazy me for suggesting this but it is time for alternative contest submission standards. My dream letter to those that create these contests:
Dear City of Heroes Devs/Marketing,
I am writing to you regarding your many contests that you have provided over the years.
I feel that the contests promoted over the years on City of Heroes have been one sided and biased towards people with the ability to draw. Many of us do not have artistic talents and are unable to take part in any contest. these same people have been loyal and devout players of City of Heroes, some of which have played for over 6 years, and feel that they are being discriminated against with the criteria that seems to follow every contest ever produced, ie: art submissions.
Those of us without artistic talents ask that you produce contests that would include us and give the "other loyal followers" of your great game the chance to take part in contest activities. Some examples would include;
- Random draws
- Story writing
- Best screen-shot
- "Treasure Hunt"
- Trivia
I feel that these are reasonable alternatives to the "artist only" contests that have become the standard.
Thank you for your time.

Quote:There is NO honor in tyranny...we will resist you! After long thought, I pity the Resistance. They are well meaning but wrong. My original statements stand. I respect their view point, but the strength of Emperor Cole's empire must not be even slightly threatened, lest the house of cards falls and Hamidon rains down destruction.
It grieves me to excise the Resistance, but it must be done. With force. -
Feel free to visit Taclobanon's DA page and tell him how much you love this comic cover...and maybe commission one of your own!

I love it!
Best super hero in DC is Green Lantern. This movie needed to be made! -

Quote:Thanks!Really nice. I'd read that comic. I love the idea of a pickup group comic. Imagine the possibilities! MarDun looks pretty tough, great pose. Your friend's Rad-Man has a great smile there.
Friends and I are working on the ideas now for the P.U.G. comic now.
We made sure Rad-Man had a snarkey look on his face. My friend plays him pretty funny.
Expect more to follow! -

I haven't commissioned a pic in a long while.
Here is a mock comic cover of MarDun (right with firesword), and a couple of my friends characters. Left is Rad-Man, and up front is Spyked Turtle.

Let me know what you think? -
This reminds me of the people that complain about the Vet Rewards and how it isn't fair for those that just started playing the game ( and which the Devs seems to have bought and made the Vets a worthless reward).
That "something for nothing" mentality. -
Quote:Np TA! I love the art forums (as you know), and it saddens me to see it in a "lull".OK final 2 submissions for the contest:
#70
Final Entry
I want to thank the following people for their comments in the thread as it seems like the screenshot and fanart forum is dead these days.
Dark Ether, VexXxa , Larissa , Caemgen , Mardun , Rowrsie , Johnnykat , Lord Goat , ChristopherRobin , airhead , Powerstream and Juggertha
Thanks for the comments guys and maybe you can join in on a little mock poll with me to see what your favorite five were. All in all there were 71 entries and I have a very big job in front of me in picking the winners here. Seeing what you guys vote in may help me decide.
You guys are all cool in my book
I will go to your DA page and have a serious look at your entries. I will give my thoughts, as I know your interests and views.
Anything to help with this tremendously hard task. Really, I think ALL win, but....
