This is my request for Samuraiko/Dark_Respite. If you can't hire her outright for vids, can you do a per siem thing so she's compensated per vid?

I can't help it guys. And many of you (devs and players alike) have more than a few PMs from me, so you know how serious I am here. Dark_Respite's vids tend to be way more epic, there's just this feeling while watching them... WHOA!

So, hire her or contract her. I dun care. But I need her vids. Deeply and in a decidely wrong way.

Hopefully seeing your popularity will encourage devs to hire you Samuriko, seriously while the full CGI trailers are all well and good, they're still going to need gameplay trailers and what you do with demo editing is simply astounding.

Petitioning isn't allowed, this isn't a petition, this is a thread stating that you NEED to be hired for the good of all of us.

Mod8 may lock these threads but he can never take away our voice that you, as one of the premier video makers in City of Heroes, need to be involved with the team and paid for your hard work.

Also, and yes I have to do a new a post to bring Sam to the forefront.

But c'mon! None of this /petition crap or /agreed. Screw that mess! Explain why Sam's vids rock so damn hard. Why you love her's more than the official ones! C'mon! If we, as a forum, ever come together in one voice, it should be for Sam's vids. Tell me I'm wrong.

I really agree. The depth of feeling that goes into each and every one of the videos I've seen has been stunning.

I'm all for this too. However, I'd be willing to bet that the devs have little control over the promotion of the game, which doing vids would come under. That's likely a separate department in NCSoft.

Dark Respite has proven her capabilities many times over with her videos. They speak louder than words as to her technical skill and should be resume enough for the position, should the Devs wish to consider her for such.

However, what *I* would like to point out is her love for the game. The fact that these videos have been offered for so long without compensation or even the expectation of such is mute testimony to D_R's love for both the game she plays and the art she makes. As a writer I am more than aware that love has to fuel art.

In my humble opinion, the Devs would have to be mad to pass up the opportunity Dark Respite represents. It is not often that you find a person who has both a talent and a passion for a job; D_R combines the best of both these traits.

Hiring her as a contracted videographer for new releases and features would be a perfect fit.

My voice may not mean much, especially not having the reputation some of the other members in our community may have, but I am in full agreement with all posts in this thread.

Sam, keep rockin'. Your videos are an inspiration to my art craft.

Come on, guys! Don't you see you're playing right into Samuraiko's hands? This whole "retirement" thing was just a scam to get people to post things like this and get her some dough for her work. I'll bet she has epic trailers for the next four issues and dangles them over the Devs' heads until they agree to her terms.

Seriously though, Samuraiko's vids are pretty darn impressive and I'd love to see more, paid or not.

I like her videos too. I suppose as long as she gives them out free the developers don't have incentives to pay her, though.

If you work for a company, you have to play by their rules. On their schedules. And have your entire work scrapped because of various internal issues.

Fans can do things devs can't. Dark_Respite benefits from those kind of advantages.

If you really want her to keep going, gift some money to her with no expectation of ever seeing her do another video. It's much more likely money is going to flow from the community - and motivate Dark_Respite to do another video - than Paragon Studios to go through the hassle of hiring an external video maker when they already have an internal team who can do it (and do other things besides).

I whole heartedly agree with the sentiment in the thread.

However, there is one thing that it is in everyone power that read this to help DR out a bit and maybe ease her out of retriment a touch.

We cant force NCsoft to hire her, we can make it so she is encouraged to work on new trailers as it will not be a dollar drain.

And before anyone questions: yes, my money is where my mouth is on this.

While I am not privy to the inner working of the NCSoft cabal, I'd be inclined to believe that the marketing of the game is actually done out of Austin at NCSoft rather than out of Mountainview at Paragon Studios.
