Either servers were upgraded, or not many people for Dbl XP?

This is my bet. When you can get 50 in a day with AE on non-double xp weekend, DXP Weekend looses it's luster. I'm mainly enjoying it because it has caused people to form some TF's and normal teams. Before hand it was nothing but farms and soloing.

Truth lies here.
?

I received a "Reactivate Now for Double XP Weekend" email on the email address that I used for a Trial account...

Places seem hopping to me.

While Freedom and Virtue weren't maxed out, it did take me FOREVER to log anyone in, which isn't normal for the represented load. I think they took steps to keep them both up come hell or high water this time around.

there's a huge difference between them asking people to reactivate and just opening up the servers to all inactive accounts, which is what they've done in the past.

There was some ugliness with the dbserver later on Friday. Was like fighting ship raid Rikti with a toon fresh outta Outbreak.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Oooooh. Having not read the email, I was unaware that it wasn't "Free" activation.

I'd like to vote for "the forum was down/people haven't been able to figure out how to use the new forum" option as an explination.

Virtue was having issues on friday, mapserving all over etc, so there were some issues. Doesn't seem as busy as usual for a double XP weekend, I wonder if they just picked a bad weekend?

Also, I think the forums being down the week before, and I was surprised they didn't give us more warning about this one, I thought we usually knew about this a lot longer in advance... Or am I remembering wrong?

This makes me smile.....there has been so much talk of dwindling player base it is good to know we are continuing to not just survive but thrive in a market that has seen some games shut down in the last few years...

I don't know about increasing or decreasing populations of players but I believe that the first instance of atlas crashed on virtue due to the amount of people and then the second one was the only one people could zone to

I didn't play half as much as I planned this weekend . . . combat lag on Pinnacle (for me) was so bad I couldn't keep track of what was going on with my cooldowns.

Well, I kind of liked going from 13-23 on my Fire/storm on one level 52 boss farm run. :P

I kept hearing about this all weekend, but I spent all my time on Pinnacle Friday, Saturday and Sunday and my connection to the game was better than it's been this past month. Granted, that's likely my ISP getting off their ***** and fixing their damn packet loss, but the game ran perfectly. No a lost packet or ping spike in sight.

You can do that on non-doouble xp days.

Upgraded? They needed to feed the hamsters running Protector better. The lag was horrific all weekend. At different points the game would just freeze like Lag Alley in Cimerora, no matter where you were. It was pointed out to me in a global channel that every time someone would type /search, the server would hiccup. Sure enough, I tried it, and it did. I have never seen such a lag filled double XP weekend in all of my time here. I had fun for the most part, but the lagging was awful.

Had some trouble on Saturday on Virtue... I was running an ITF (second mission, not the hill of death) and my entire team spent about five minutes straight wavering in and out of mapservering. We'd get reconnected for about half a second every fifteen seconds or so, juuuuust enough to keep it from kicking us out to the login screen.

On the upside, I got a really good look at the Cyclops model.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Same here. This was the hands-down worst lag- and DC-fest I have ever seen in 5+ years playing this game. Sadly, my main server is Protector, so I was losing mapserver connections almost continuously while not instanced. I also had trouble logging in on Freedom. So, sadly, I spent my time doing other things this weekend. (I was looking forward to this one for CoH )

I think the servers were upgraded also.... especially since the "LFae" broadcasting certainly did NOT seem to slow down any!

On Saturday I suggested in the broadcast channel that the servers might have been upgraded and I was cussed out by a few people. There was alot of "How dare you suggest something was ever wrong with the servers before!"

I actually had trouble getting a team on Sunday. (I'd been forming teams all weekend and running radio missions.) After 20 minutes of not getting any replies, or "no thanks", I gave up.

Luckily a global channel started an ITF. Fortuitous!
