Issue 16 is not GR

Do we know about anything else other than the Pimp My Imp feature before we write I16 off and commence with the screaming?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well its a bit confusing and hopefully one of them/someone will clear this up but they did say that issue 15 was going to be the BIG update issue.

Now we know that issue 15 [current] was the old issue 14 because of the split of the MA. So we would presume that the big update would be issue 16 in which numerous people on both sides of the atlantic on the forums have agreed on.

However now with the paid expansion being released it could have meant that GR was indeed what they meant by the huge update to the game and not issue 15 [now issue 16]. Of course though i dont think we'ld have an entire issue of GR without an issue beforehand being used as a teaser/showing advancement of the storyline.

I admit that as someone who doesn't regularly have time to do TFs, though, I was hardly doing the dance of joy over I15, but there's still enough other treats, some unexpected, to keep me a pretty happy little heroine.

Same here really, i dont know what the official name is but i must be doing two things at the same time otherwise well i just get really bored and cant be bothered to be honest. One of the reasons you'll see me solo a lot or team for brief/short bursts

Yer, they are really going to do a i15 again aren't they?
Seriously, people who think customisation is the only good thing to look forward to in i16 are really really naive.

Anyone who think anything about I16 this early are doing so from a position of ignorance: we don't know enough to even begin to consider speculating.

When has ignorance stopped speculation or having opinion on matters? :P

It is fertile ground for speculation and opinions at this point, because no-one can be proven that they are completely wrong.

It's funny how people choose to quote parts of messages totally ignoring whatever don't fit'em.

As I said, I might be jumpin' the gun, and I sure hope so. The good news of course is that they keep revamping the game engine doing things they said would never ever be done, so we might actually end up with a game that doesn't look 7 years old.

...but I'm still rather worried that GR will be the "content" (=story) patch and I16 will be another tech upgrade. ...and mostly I'm worried that GR will actually be rather content-less compared to other MMO expansions. Anything less than at least = the current villain content would be pitiful.

and btw: 3rd day in a row hang over, yet I'm still happy since I've stayed away from the game all that time! But I'll swap the beer for some PIE from now on methink!

I have a feeling this might end up changing to a random speculations thread
But, back on topic. GR may, or may not, be that big depending on how big i16 is (I'm not sure how big Along Came A Spider was because I joined around i7) but since it isn't adding a complete new faction like CoV did it may not be that big, but then again there is a lot of potential content for the issue. Maybe something along the lines of CO's Nemesis feature were we can create/fight a Praetorian version of our characters?

That's why Londoner used "I really really hope" and I subscribed. Bear in mind though, considering the past 3 issues (that's 13, 14 and 15), it isn't neither that far-fetched or naive to see it as only comprising of Power Customization (PC). Or PC and 2 new TFs with a few tweaks here and there.

I'll reserve my right of "meh-ing" (or not) for further news about it.

Ok, seriously disturbing.
We already know the content of I15 and it's... thin...

Now it MIGHT be that I16 is power customzation, ergo another extremely thin expansion. While it's nice they revamp the game engine to "modern" standards (still no gfx update it seems though) and we're getting GR this - to me - is very troublesome. Seems like another pointless stab at the competition.

Let's just hope I'm jumpin' the gun here, or that SW:TOR is released faster than anyone expected!

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont want a gpraihcs update to be honest, The system can barely run it with all the lag as it is, and the system is quite good, just the lag is horrendous, better graphics will add onto that lag, which would meen I simply wont be able to enjoy the game. Same reason for many others too really.

Colour customisation doesn't impress me. I want new sets and zones! New character models (I.e why do we all have to have 2 arms and 2 legs, why not a body like the snakes have?)

And new cossie parts.

It's unlikely that it will be colour customisation only, that feature shouldn't be too difficult to implement since it's already possible to alter the colours on the auras.
New costume parts will hopefully be available as well, but new body types (especially non-humanoid ones like the snakes) are unfortunately unlikely outside an expansion due to the required animation work though I'd love to see that feature as well.

Actually, the devs said, and have said multiple times in the past that the reason why we didn't have colour costumisation sooner is not because it was impossible to do, not even because it was hard to do, but because it was just an incredible amount of work that they simply did not have the manpower for, if they still wanted to release other stuff.

It wasn't/isn't as simple as changing the colours of the auras, because the colours were actually coded into the powers. So they had to either make a new version of every single power for every single colour or completely recode the way colours are integrated in the powers.

(No offence to anyone for the next part)

BUUT, I really don't care how bad your pc is. I don't care if 90% of the players are using dinosaurs that can barely render 3D graphics.

The graphics sliders exist for a reason. So people with £2000 computers like me can slide it WAAAAY to the right, and people with £1.99 computers like most of the CoX playerbase can slide it WAAAAY to the left.

I don't care if anyone thinks i'm being selfish, I think it is a reasonable request that the game designers command the art department to work like dogs until there is NEW higher res, and MOAR detailed textures, for every surface and mesh in the game.

That way, people like me can turn the GFX slider even MOAR to the right, and people with £1.99 computers can leave it at the far left.

And no one's game enjoyment is affected negatively =)

And no increased graphics would not cause server lag for anyone, because it's YOUR personal computer that renders the graphics, and therefore your GPU that has to do the work (just incase there was the slim chance someone doesn't know how graphics work)

I thought more graphical data meant more internet traffic back and for equals more lag.

The game's graphics are all handled client-side, so a graphical update wouldn't necessarily mean more data to send and receive, maybe none extra at all. It'll deffo result in a few far bigger updates filesize-wise though.

If it results in an update to the costume editor itself (in other words, not just the pieces but an increase in variables to the system via new features), it still probably won't have much effect on the data sent and received. I mean, the average costume file's just over 6KB right now, which is piddly, and it's not like it's going to be sending that costume data to the same players constantly, is it?

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

If 90% of the player base left (your figures) due to their PCs being unable to handle the updated graphics the game would close and you'd not have anything to play.

@Thread.

I'm going to wait and see. This is the one Hero MMO I enjoy and while I might dabble in CO, its unlikely so I'll carry on playing CoH until the servers go to the big server farm in the sky.

Love that, DW you win hands down with this one.

I may or may not use the feature, but we are both waiting for GR. We will be in the city as long as work, and our net connection allows.

Does that clear the issue up for you? That way i can enjoy the game more, and you can still manage to run it. (albeit barely)
