1. Ah, that being said, I would be an idiot for picking the powers in any stupid order then. I'll do it as i do ingame and thanks for the info!

Also, thanks for the build, it looks like a great workable solution to my first domi!

But might I ask why your build doesn't include subdue or fly trap? Are they not needed? O.o
And why invisibility?

Just curious
2. Ok I've never been an expert in mids, and this problem has been plaguing me for ages and really annoying me to no end, and i have no idea what's causing it.

I thought i'd give making a plnat/psi build a go, and when putting slots into my moves, it just won't let me add any more to certain moves and i have no clue why this is.

If someone would be so kind as to tell me how to fix this, i'd REALLY appreciate it.

Now that's over with, time for the buid. I'm trying to make a plant/psi for superior AOE soloing as this is my first dominator, and I've so far had quite a lot of fun playing it.

This is as far as the build got before mids wouldn't let me add any more slots to some moves (like entangle for example) and yes I realise the build itself is probably quite poor due to me not having a clue what i'm doing really ;___;

Why can't domis be simple like brutes >.<

3. Awesome, I'll start looking into plant/psi or plant/fire then, and begn experimenting with builds for the 2
4. Ah, in that case AOE must be more of what I want, I really want to be able to kill lots of things with no problem
5. So since people in here are likely to be dom experts, and I have yet to make a dom, I'm hoping I can get some build help in mids.

Now what I'm hoping to make is something that can solo really well (not like i'd know if they can solo well anyways) and preferably something that can take down AVs alone.

In short i'm looking to create a killing machine because what I favour in characters is pure fighting ability. Now I don't know what sets would accomplish this best but I heard from a dom friend that plant/psy is good for this.

So if anyone can put together an amazing plant/psy build i would be really grateful, or if you think that something better fits the bill of uber inffamy-making machine, that'd do nicely.

And also, don't worry about keeping the cost of the build down, I'm just looking for the greatest possible build.

Well thanks for any help in advance people
6. Ah, thanks man! Now all I need to do is change the shorrtcut icon x)
7. First of all, I realize perfectly well the clients are basically the same. My question to the people with the know how is:

I want to log in looking at the CoV client everytime, not the heroes one, so how do i change the updater/client look to CoV? I tried renaming the .exes in the program files and it didn't work ;_;
8. Razor_Shultz

GR vs CoV

I don't care about heroes. I discovered this game because I saw a COV collectors dvd edition in PC world, and remembered thinking I wanted to try it out.

I'm one of the people who likes to be evil. Which is why when the devs of CO release Nemesis online, they say they're going to make it ALOT different for the villains.

CoV was basically a copy paste of the heroes section, but one of the CO designers said he'd make gameplay for the villain version of CO completely different, which I look forward to.

If there is people to kidnap and murder, extort, blackmail, steal from, then count me in.

I enjoy the feeling of ruining things for people more than saving some idiotic civilian in the street whilst clad in spandex.

Evil always seems to have a greater impact on the population that the good does anyways. Besides, I'm lazy, and a hero's work is never done.
9. Razor_Shultz

I16 closed Beta

I hope GR is good. I want to be converted to CO, and starting 4th august when I play the beta I probably will be.

But I want CoX to keep me interested also.

Farm Exploit?

You're never going to remove the incentive for players to level 1-50 in the shortest time. It doesn't matter what you do, o who they ban, or what the devs restrict EVERYONE in the game from doing.

Farming will exist as long as games with levels and items that can be reaped from repeating the same action over again.
11. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Where do I get hard pve? From taking on huge numbers of bosses at a time.

If that doesn't work, I make ridiculously hard MA missions. (I also enjoy creating playable stories from them!)

Since I am somewhat of a hardcore player, I tend to make extremely difficult solo maps.

They only pass my quality control if I can't do them. 9and of course when the story is consistent and there are no grammatical errors! :P) Personally I've never made it to the end of one of my missions, but my friends Soul Taker (UBER SS/WP) and Effy (uber night widow) have gotten pretty far.
12. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Yes, but doing the same boring thing over and over again is the job of a grinder. The good ones (I like to think myself one ^^) can do it whilst bored, and without complaining.

So while it's true I don't mind doing the same apparently easy stuff again, I DO enjoy hard pve.

Afterall, if EVERYTHING was so easy, I'd have nothing to test as a punch bag with my purpled out chars ^^ The next step to improving a char more is to find out what your limit is (i.e when you get knocked around by some hard mobs) then set yourself another target.

And also, if everything I mentioned was so obvious from your posts, expect me to write about it. And in turn, I'll expect you not to cherry pick quotes from me when you whine about me stating the obvious.

Call me captain obvious if ya want. I'm used to there being people too stupid to pick up anything unless it's pointed out to them, so yes I do often state the obvious, it may be a bad habit but it's one anyone who talks to me will learn to live with.

So if you want to make a point about grinders prefering grinding to being challenged in pve, what do you want me to say? Sure, some will prefer easy grinds and big drop rewards than a challenge.

I however, am the kind of grinder who grinds to get better. After one thing becomes easy because my character is uber, I look for the next milestone to improve myself to. And after I reach the maximum potential, I move on and do the same with a different character.

The result? Tons of uber purpled out chars ready for use in powerlevelling alts, friends, or ripping through TFs.

Sure I need to grind a few mils of inf every now and then, but that's not really a crime.

I'm not one of the grinders who spams people tells for farm invites, before those accusations start flying x3.
13. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Well you're not going to get a level playing field in pvp. People who have grinded and farmed for their purps will own you in pvp because they put more work in.

This 'level playing field' you speak of is simply where you can be even with other people despite little or no work.

These people who grind and spend more time deserve to be rewarded equally.

There's a reason people who have been playing for years, farming constantly are better than you and I.

And As for the PVE issue, that's different. I as a grinder don't want an easy play. You seem to assume grinders want PVE to be easy.

Grinding, by definition (well, my definition of grinding as a grinder) is doing things that pay well as fast as possible to maximise reward for time taken.

If I want to farm the same map as someone else, but quicker, with the same amount of reward, I have to beef up my char so it can tear through the mission.

You, on the other hand seem to think grinders like me just want an easy ride, which isn't the case. The game can be challenging, but grinders will always find it easier because to grind you have to be good to begin with.

(That or put up with slow reward:time ratio)

All this said, I shall withdraw my earlier offering to agree to disagree, if you want to argue this out til one of us concedes defeat, I can play that game
14. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Games don't take skill, let alone MMOs.

MMOs ARE about time, because they are designed to keep us interested forever so we'll sub until we die!

Very few games are about skill. Fighting games and RTS are the only genre I think that need a certain degree of skill.

(And no before anyone interjects, FPS games do not take skill, just basic motor skills to move your thumb and aim)

You might as well go play world of warcraft, even though technically it is ancient and is one of the worse MMOs i've ever played.

One positive, is it's easy mode and you can take advantage of/manipulate the playerbase quite easily.

Oh and in response to your phrase "people don't buy infamy' I say, open your eyes my friend.

1) Go to goole

2)type in 'buy cov infamy'

3) ???

4) Profit!

(steps 3 and 4 were a reference to 4chan, don't mind them)

If you want your characters to remain bad, simply slot them with SOs or basic IOs and forego the whole 'putting in effort to improve yourself' thing.

If you don't pvp you'll be happy playing on the 'hard mode' some guy suggested a few posts back, and when my chars are purpled out I'll have fun plvling my friends and burning through TFs.

And after that, everyone's happy! I think after all's said and done we should just agree to disagree.
15. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Against 4 AVs, unless you have good powers and slotted well, tactics aside hit and run and spam heals and inspi's aren't going to help you.

Sometimes you just need to beef your character up. Despite everythng you said, you seem to forget you're not the 'great majority' I spoke of.

The game is not written for your own preferences I might add. Even though this MMO is casual compared to most grind MMOs out there, it still has lots of elements of hardcore MMOs.

The grinding COULD be one of them, farming for inf and purples endlessly definately, and it's these kinds of things that mean there is a great supply of inf and purples availible for when we go to buy them.

Yes good build and tactics are something anyone can have, but eventually you'll find a situation that just calls for raw power so destroy everything in your way.

That, or crawl through the mission slowly.

There ISN'T a technical barrier stopping anyone being good. If you find the willingness to improve your character, which comes naturally to me and everyone I know whoplays CoV, you'll eventually start slotting your moves with sets and those more expensive enhancements.
16. Well it makes sense to be strive to be the best you can be.

Being analytical and mathmatical often helps.

I however, just look at the damage value in mids, and the nice yellow bar below it.

If it's exceedingly large in quantity, then I can be satisfied said attack will do tons of damage, and thereby make me and my char happy

Also, the bar graphs for defence and HP and stuff help me alot.

Bar charts > numbers
17. I like the idea a lot.

A LOT.

Signed.
18. Razor_Shultz

Farm Exploit?

Well thankfully you're not one of the game designers.

People who pay their subs should be allowed to farm because farming helps create supply and demand, and in normal missions helps to pump purples into the economy which you buy.

And without farmers there'd be significantly less inf and purples floating around so the prices would skyrocket.

And as long as they don't negatively affect anyone else (don't give me spamming invites or teamsplits QQ they happen anyway) they should be allowed to do as they want.

Farming isn't (but can be) an exploit, but usually it's harmless.

@Scarlet Shocker,

Death is a better feedback mechanism that debt. Death lets you know poerfectly if you need to change what you're doing because it isn't working.

You don't need to be punished further. Although I think the current debt system is fine.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well clearly it's not enough: It is inconsequential. If there's not a rezzer on the team you've probably got a wakey or a self-rez in your temp powers and if not you can make a wakey easy as anything.

There is nothing in Defeat to teach a new player anything now - Debt was a good way of teaching people how to play the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

No it wasn't, and not having any wakies was the reason the 3 inspi feature was implemented. So people can use 3 of their inspis to make a wakey or anything else they might need.

Like previous posters have said, death is a failure enough. It's a good feedback mechanism to show you you need to do something different.

21. This song is so old, and so unfunny now, I wasn't amused at all by another rehash made in another MMO.
22. Razor_Shultz

I16 and Farming?

Well like the saying goes, all it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

It's why being a villain is so much more fun, and more profitable ^^
23. [ QUOTE ]
wait wait wait....demon summoning is already in game, the oni? if they bring out demon summoning, doesnt that make the oni redundant?

anyway, if demon summoning come out, can they get rid of oni and replace it with an actual 'ninja'?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, because if they do recycle the terrible disaster of an NPC template that is the oni, I will personally slaughter all the game designers who work on CoX.

We ARE getting giant, uber, fat ol, beasty ol, strong, godly, grisly, nasty UBER DEMONS. Yes I used uber twice.

Word out to the developers, do not screw us over! We want something original and awesome for the demons!

Do not fail me here, positron.
24. Agree even moar.

If the devs get cheap on us, and are lazy enough to recycle already ingame character models, I will hunt positron down and do nasty things to him. (and the other game designers who made the design choice)
