I16 closed Beta
Gets PC set up before CO, and clears the way for GR before the holidays

That's still no guarantee of it even progressing to open beta within 2 months.
And after such a small I15 (possibly due to things being bumped) it looked likely that I16 would be hitting some form of beta PDQ.

I would imagine they will take their time with this, so that I16 goes live very close to the launch of CO. If they debug it, it'll get polished and additional features added in I suspect

fi they do it tactical, they release it before CO hit's the stores.
they can try and take the chance when CO is released, but i think that i16 will look like nothing after they tasted CO.
it's a 50/50 guess, but it's best to show it before CO.
Within a month of CO, because unless CO is absolutely dire people will play for their free month before they ditch it and return... if they do.

I hope GR is good. I want to be converted to CO, and starting 4th august when I play the beta I probably will be.
But I want CoX to keep me interested also.

I'm treading very carefully here, but looks are not everything.
Games these days have to be innovative in gameplay as well. If it's the same old systems rehashed, then any new game released - that is like that - runs the risk of failure.
I don't expect there to be any new superhero MMO release in 2009.

Then spend more time out of the Mongoose Cave
And go to www.paragonwiki.com and search for I15 to get a good overview

Are you implying CO may not be the WoW killer we all assumed it was going to be?

You'd hardly notice really, just a couple of times your game needs up dating and people mumbling about a new TF. If there was anything worth talking about you'd have probably heard
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

I think someone on the German boards said it best: CoX's best defense against CO is the free month that comes with the purchase.
Seriously, the fun in CO is rapidly declining once you leave the character creator... and sometimes even before that. I am disappointed to say the least.

So you mean that maybe NCSoft should be handing out free CO trials at the next convention, to help promote GR?

I'm saying that the game has potential.
However ... potential remains just that, if nothing changes - regardless of what it is.

Good point actualy.
Any game hero based that goes in competition of CoX, faces the same thing any fantasy/orc/elf game gets when they face WoW. New games with a handfull of features, while their opponent has already years of content to give.
You dont need uber graphics (AoC), a big name (Lotro), or a rich lore (WH), you need something fresh, something different. Aion seems to have done this imho really great, i see more and more wow players going to beta's and asia-trials and get pretty hooked up by the game.
I never played CO, never seen it actualy, all i seen was a trailer from DCO for the PS3.. all i could say was: Next!
50)Sinergy X/(50)Mika.
(50)MaceX/(50)Encore
Sign the petition, dont let CoH go down! SIGN!
Have people never gone back and played old games on things like the PS1, gameboy, that sorta thing?
Graphics, when it relaly, really comes down to it, doesnt matter. A game is defined by the gameplay. We have a lot of games that come out these days that have 'cutting edge' graphics...but someone kinda forgot about the gameplay.
I still have to play CoX on minimum settings. I've never seen the game at full potential. And I still like it, because it plays well.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I still love the Baldur's Gate series, even though it's only 2D graphics
Plus, it was my first ever video game, so it has that going for it too

Excellent post, which really hits the mark.
You do owe it to yourself to upgrade your PC though. I played this game with an average PC for years, and recently got myself a high spec one with a 22 inch widescreen monitor.
I now run everything on full. The difference is truly amazing

There is no such thing as an <insert a well subscribed MMO here> Killer!
Anyone who thinks that CO will immediately take all the subscribers of CoH (or any other game is mad. And anyone who thinks <insert new fantasy MMO here> will kill WoW is living in cloud cuckoo land.
I dare say that some will leave <established MMO> for <new MMO> but that is all that can be realistically be said.
Unless of course NewMMO is the sequel to OldMMO and the devs switch off OldMMO's servers, which is unlikely if people still pay to play OldMMO.
let's just say that, if CO is to my liking, COX is no more.
i got enough to pay for and currently i have to see how things go in the CCS, if the CCS of CO is even worse then COX then i stay with COX.
if it's way better, then i have to say bye bye COX.

I hesitated to reply on this. I mean, I do love some old C=64 games even to this date, my niece's into a Mario period (Her parents can't get her to sleep, she just get's up after a few minutes and starts playing again) and the Wii has surely shown that GFX isn't everything. I recently found a good old arcade game at the local run-down pub (you know the one with the ball you guide by rolling an actual ball, can't remember the name for some reason) and I still have a go at Tetris, not to mention how fed up I am with all the generic 3D FPS shooters with monsters/aliens/nazis...
..but on the other hand, whenever I try another "normal" game on my PS3 or PC I'm totally blown away by how good they look, how responsive they are and how immersive they are. I usually play them for hours and when I stop for the day(night) the endorfines are pumping, I'm happy.
I usually don't give them a second go, the next day I'm back to CoX, "grinding" because it makes me feel I'm "getting something" for my effort since it's an MMO. The thing is, I'm never happy after a CoX session anymore. I enjoy the time, chatting with the team on Skype, but even after a well run 43 minute SF/TF I feel... nothing..
...back again next evening with some friends I fire up the PS3 and have a go at even oldies like Burnout Paradise and I just love it instantly. Later on I fire up CoX again and it's the old pal, it's like going to work. You know what you're doing, you're good at it, it's a no brainer and feels necessary.
I guess I'm stabbing at more than just graphics with this post. On one hand I do agree, graphics isn't enough. On the other hand I'm also saying CoX isn't enough either and graphics does indeed matter. CoX looks good with everything on when you're not moving. ...and the engine needs an update anyway because it's not optimised for modern cards etc. WIth the basic stuff it has, it really, really shouldn't be that "laggy"
...also I really hate those terrible shadows and light f.x. clearly shown in Grandville plaza. I never go to Grandville anymore, unless really necessary. Can't stand it.
