He'll be back - they always come back - eventually

Surprisingly - or not - that is as we all know far from true. I could list about 50 people I used to play with that wouldn't for the love of God, or any other reason, come back no matter what sort of rabbit they pull out of the proverbial hat. ..ergo, I don't find those post amuzing at all, since we've lost some seriously good people.
[/ QUOTE ]Don't know anyone who has gone out in a blaze of posts and not come back yet TBH. Know lots who just stopped playing though. -
Archive this and the US one, in such a way that it becomes static html, rather than scripted as it is.
Then start a wholly brand new forum for everyone. Gets rid of 99% of the idiotic dross that these boards fill up with. Resets the post counts for everyone and names are reallocated on a first come first serve basis.
IMO.

Hey guys, take a look at this image http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...lingalley2.jpg
Im aiming at the blue things at the back, lateral files. They've been stacked on each other and on the silver boxes, does anyone know how its done? Ive tried using the stacking method, but cant do it.
Any in-game help is appreciated.
Thanks guys
[/ QUOTE ]
Lateral files are exactly three Floor Safes high, either stack the safes then use the big white floor piece (under same tab as the safe) then stack the lateral files on the floor, or directly onto the safes. -
Though you neither need the double slash or the quotes.
Don't you just love the logic behind the commands in the game?
Other question: Are you using the n50 or the n52? n50 has issues where pressing more than three keys results in erroneous keys being pressed. n52 doesn't. -
Add to 7:
7c)Add a $reply string, so that binds/macros can be written to invite/search/display info/ect of the last person to send you a tell.
7d)In situations where you won't be automatically be logged out (bases, missions and TFs (IIRC)), afk is still reached after the normal wait time. So if you go afk in one of the above after awhile you start sending auto replies. -

Grass effect would do good for appearance. If that's too much for your computer, just turn it off.

But... If I turned my computer off I wouldn't be able to play at all... -

Ta. All stems from a discussion with a brother who said I'd probably have super strength if i had super powers in RL. Also, I was able to pretty accurately make myself ingame. Anyone else manage that?

Whole point of having a good avatar is so I don't have to see me in game too... if I had to do that I'd quit now.

That sounds like you're lacking confidence and self esteem

Five years of clinical depression and I'd never noticed that... -
Its based on what the OP was asking for TBH. I'd personally take lingering radiation and I use smoke to help soloing (cheap stealth power with the +stealth in CJ). And with four slots I get a 5% recharge bonus. As I'm an altaholic I seldom will be able to afford the really nice recharge bonuses on the good sets so I make them up from weaker sets.

My laptop cost ~£350. So it is perfectly possible to get a laptop that runs CoH (currently GR may up the specs
) for under £400.
OTOH I wouldn't want to run a TF with it... ITF's lag hill would probably kill it. -

Give all the zones the destructable stuff like the Safeguards have for a start
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that wouldn't lag the servers out at all, would it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
Well not if they use the same system that they use for Propel and the various signs. Which as far as I can see are largely left up to the client to sort out. -
Because unless the pool of text that you can pick from is huge the repeat saying are incredibly annoying. I once teamed with a Dark Melee scrapper that whenever they used Touch of Fear they said 'fear me evil'. This lasted for the fist three spawns in a single mission. Before they were told either switch it off or be kicked from the team.
So you'd need a much larger pool than say five sayings... more like 20 or thirty per power which would be really annoying to fill in.
Better yet would be a method to pull a random string from a text file using a string eg $random. Then you could use it for anything. But those who have no interest in that sort of thing don't have to use it. -

A tunnel under the ground power, perhaps?

Apart from actual animation, and potentially limits to where it goes. How would it be different to Teleport?

I'm not sure - but CO has something like it

And theirs look quite good i must admit, same with hoverboards [please i want!!!]
With all the new characters that WILL get made in GR, a revamped low level experience is needed and will be very well received!
[/ QUOTE ]
The revamping might not mean the current low level missions - it might just mean that Praetoria is a third starting area - like Heroes and Villains can't access Praetoria until level 20, but if you choose to start off as Neutral, you'd do various missions in Praetoria until you got to like 20, when you'd then get your first chance to choose to be good or evil, and get acces to the blue or red side content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hope so. -

Would either have been released if they had thought they'd fail so soon?

I go both ways...
But having recently been in conversation with an old time CoH player (@***_****) who says that if it is released in its current state (about a month from launch) it will fail as it needs a huge amount of work. I'll wait until free trials happen unless it does bomb... then I won't.

Maybe you should edit your friends name out Ninja?
Wouldn't want him to possibly get booted for NDA stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
He hasn't actually told me any specifics merely that the game isn't ready for launch. We were discussing other games that with a month to go before launch didn't do so well on launch. Which one or other of us have beta'd. Auto Assault and TR in this case.
But whatever. -

This has happened to me about every 4-5 months. I get insanely bored of the actual game and while the community keeps me for a bit longer after a bit of this I disappear off to WoW (I used to fit in EVE as well but that game is even more boring in many aspects), where the process repeats. Normally giving me time to get a character to cap and do a bit of end game. Then I come back to CoH all refreshed and raring to go again.
It does nothing for your vet rewards, been playing since EU beta yet only just hit 30 months.
Another thing I do to eliminate some of the tediousness is to dual/triple box, that is to play 2 or 3 accounts at the same time. Generally playing normal content rather than farming. Whatever GG says. -
Yes, the tables used to store Base Salvage, at IIRC 999 items at a time. When they flipped them over to Invention Salvage they reduced it to 30.
-
As long as it has a discreet graphics card you should be fine. Though saying that I can play CoH on a Lenovo n500 (everything on minimum settings), that has a Intel 4500 GPU 200Mhz. Won't play WoW though which makes me sad. :'(
-
There is a Grandville beach map already...
-
Three subsequent issues will be mainly for GR, thereafter it will be fairly balanced. IMO.

Have people never gone back and played old games on things like the PS1, gameboy, that sorta thing?
Graphics, when it relaly, really comes down to it, doesnt matter. A game is defined by the gameplay. We have a lot of games that come out these days that have 'cutting edge' graphics...but someone kinda forgot about the gameplay.
I still have to play CoX on minimum settings. I've never seen the game at full potential. And I still like it, because it plays well.
[/ QUOTE ]
I frequently play old games.
Dune 2/Dune 2000/Emperor: Battle for Dune
Command & Conquer (from Tib Sun onwards).
Total Annihilation (Both OTA and Spring).
XCOM: Terror From the Deep, Enemy Unknown & Apocalypse (all available on Steam).
And many others.
I never owned a console so that comparison isn't for me... though the various Sonic games I have played and enjoyed are still great games (on emulator) and its not the graphics that make them fun.
And while I wouldn't go as far as to say that they are all better than modern games. They certainly aren't much worse either.
I play CoH on the recommended settings slider, but have three PCs of varying 'leet'ness and one won't handle anything over minimum and the other while better than that isn't hugely better.
