I'm fine with macros, it's just that abbreviated text usually don't look as good as the real power icon.
How about allowing us to copy the icon of a power to a macro.

Because unless the pool of text that you can pick from is huge the repeat saying are incredibly annoying. I once teamed with a Dark Melee scrapper that whenever they used Touch of Fear they said 'fear me evil'. This lasted for the fist three spawns in a single mission. Before they were told either switch it off or be kicked from the team.
So you'd need a much larger pool than say five sayings... more like 20 or thirty per power which would be really annoying to fill in.
Better yet would be a method to pull a random string from a text file using a string eg $random. Then you could use it for anything. But those who have no interest in that sort of thing don't have to use it.
That was exactly what I was thinking, the insane annoyance it would bring..
I was in a zone the other day and someone shouted "prepare to be frerigerated!" (no typo there!)
I'd go bonkers if something like that would get shouted every other power.. No thanks, I'd rather have 'FREEM!' shoot across the screen if it comes to that.. 
Got to agree with ninja it becomes really annoying really quick. I used to have a load of macros set up on my tank so he shouted things as he attacked ended up annoying my self and i deleted them.
Its one of these things that sounds like it would be really cool and makes perfect sense from a story/RP point but in practise its a pain
Lol, I got annoyed at making one of my characters say something everytime I did a costume change, having them say something everytime I set off an ability, even an ab with a long recharge time would get even more annoying for me as well as anyone else who can hear it.
If I did feel the need to have one liners in a mission and I was RPing that mission, I'd macro them individually and use them (very sparingly, perhaps just at the boss and using $ commands) just before I set off an ab.
i ones even got annoyed by my own macro>_<
i made an imitation of rock lee, and every time he does a kick i made it say "konoha kick"....
yes, this character is now shot and boiled, never to see again.
Yea that's what I've done with my new BS/shield scrapper i have a range of phrases that i have bound to the number keys and use them from time to time far less annoying.
I just tend to set up macro's with speech for a few powers, and a target located macro:
/macro <Macro Name> "say <Text> $target"
My MM's however also have an additional target located and attack message both in the local channel followed by the pet command
/macro <Macro Name> "local <Text> $target$$local <Text>$$petcom_all <Settings>"
Additionally the macro name can fit:
3 Capital letters - ABC
4 Letters with an initial Capital - Abcd
5 Letters Lowercase - abcde (*Assumed)
I only tend to use the 3 and 4 letter combinations.
The macro name can be longer but it won't fit on the button.

Why not make Power Edit that can edit exemple: then u rezz a ally then u say like "Preperd to be rezzed!" or then throwing a fireball at enemy u say "gonna toast u with my fire" instead of usin macro that is hard to edit!!!
