Must admit, I am old fashioned that way too, I like a shiny box to have and hold, then I know if my comp blows up, I can always reload the game.

Not really, if you remember about 2 months ago it was said the architect wasnt being released over in the EU because it wasnt deemed cost effective so it would be an automatic response to want to know whether this one (in their eyes) is worthy of being advertised/sold over here.

The architect box might have also served as a bit of a test run to make sure they had the bricks-and-mortar distribution sorted out.

IIRC, GR (GhostRaptor) dropped hints that they weren't releasing an Architect edidtion box over here because they were planning to release another box in the near future anyway.
Not sure I'd want 3 boxes cluttering up my pile of boxes I have already, but I would like one, to go with the collectors edditions I have already

I can just download the game anytime I want it now, why bother with a new disc?

That's certainly not the post I'm thinking of.
IIRC it was around the time of the Mac edition either being announced or being released. People were asking about a general boxed release (partly to provide a more recent installation source and partly due to shelf-presence).
IIRC it was in that 'discussion' that comments were made about a boxed version in the EU later this year.
Of course - my memory is wobbly at times.

Architect Edition is available in EU for £9.99 via Steam.
(Including 1 month and SuperBooster Pack option Free)
Steam will also re-install CoX in it's own directory, however you can remove installed files via the link's Right-Click menu, and still run it normally, as the code creates/upgrades accounts as normal.

As this will be a full expansion and not an issue I'm betting it will be turned into a full relaunch of the game to get store-shelf presence again. Considering NCSoft's re-investment into the game this would be the most sensible course of action to get the game to new players.
I'll certainly want a boxed version of it, if one is available.

I'm assuming that with a Certain Other game coming out, we'll get a boxed version of Going Rogue. Hopefully a Collectors Edition with some fancy stuff.
However, if there isn't a boxed version...maybe NC don't want my money as much as Companies Other.

With everything thats been going on it'ld make perfect sense to only release this version in the EU and not the architect!
