So....Issue 15 then?

No, there's no official news here, obviously, just more of a general meandering wonderment.

Of the little we've heard, the rumours were that it was going to hit around the 5th anniverary, which I believe is the middle of May? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that date, can't find the cool calendar to check the numbers.

If so, I don't see that happening. Unless the beta is in Closed Beta for it already, that only gives us about a month for testing, and we've heard nothing official on it yet!

It is possible for the dev team to working on a mssive surprise for us, as it's the anniversary, keep everything hush hush, so to speak, but I find it hard to believe anyone will be able to keep the genie in the bottle

So, what things are we expecting? New zones? New AT's? Power Proliferation? Raise the cap to 60? A massive return of old villains such as the 5th Column? (this one at least has been hinted at) Or maybe a whole new villain threat to shock us?

Will we get a massive graphics upgrade, potentially upsetting players on lower end machines? Will it be another badge-gasm like the Architect is? Will we see Architect 2.0? Or is it too early for that?

I'm curious as to what people are hoping for or even expecting from issue 15, especially when y'all expect it to arrive!

Let the specualtion commence, I say!

Stuff.

A player exodus to a certain other new game if it doesn't meet their expectations.

Graphics update - probably, but hopefully along the lines of EVE, where you don't have to use it if your system can't handle it.

Branching plots - decisions with consequences that not even Ouroboros can fix for you (not likely, but I'd like to see it).

The Coming Storm - whatever the hell this is, I'd sure like to see it.

More powerset proliferation (TA Corruptors preferably).

New (Remade?) Zone - probably Co-op, but it would be nice if it was sectioned off between Heroes and Villains with two plots running.

I just want it soon as they were already working on it at i13 but it got moved back as they split MA off to make i14.

(as in 1 or 2 months to go to test, not in the next week )

IIRC April 28th - they usually run the anniversary badge for the month of May.

Posi (I think) dropped hints in interview about the fith... anniversary.

I'd guess that they want to hit as close as possible to the anniversary - but all schedules slip, and there never was a definite statement about aiming for the birthday.

I'd hope that they manage something good for the anniversary that leads up to the new issue (as I wouldn't imagine it's ready to go at the start of May...)

Having said that, due to MA being bumped much of I15 may have been ready for months now... Hmmm - wonder if they kept on adding to I15 or got a jump on I17?

I still can't decide if I15 sees the Coming Storm or if that's I16 with I15 throwing masses of twisty turny weirdness at us before the Storm arrives. That actually causes me problems guessing what will come when - as I'm hoping 15/16 are both story-driven. Heck - if the Coming Storm is such a big deal then things need escalating now, but I can see it spread over 2 issues... And somewhere in the story will be the 5th and moon/space/alien-world...

I guess if pushed I'd have to plump at I15 having moon/space/alien zone(s) and the 5th (space nazis with dinosaurs and frikkin' lasers), with I16/7 possibly throwing in an underwater zone (replace dinosaurs with sharks).

I'd expect I15 to see some MA improvements - not really MA v2.0 (I'd guess Nov/Dec for that) but there are enough small improvements (search, glowy chaining, named-entity ambush) that could possibly be made fairly quickly that it's not worth holding an issue back for - so I hope they'll be in I15 rather than before it...

I expect something graphics related to happen soon - but I'd been guessing later this year - I'd want to get I15 with minimal chance of breaking everything with new graphics.

I'm also guessing that I16/7 will allow us to turn our characters a red colour.

EDIT: I thought the comments about the fith... anniversary were earlier than they actually were.

It was December 1st, the "split" was already announced, and Posi said exactly:

Latest update for EVE Online made the "Premium" client the basic client, increasing the graphics requirements to a card with Shader Model 2 and above. There's some sort of "Premium Lite" (SM2)/"Actual Premium" (SM3+) division, but the old graphics were done away with completly.

No SM2 card? Get buying, game won't run for you no more.

Until they figured out developing, testing and maintaining for 2 graphics engines was a bad idea.

More villain SF's !!!!
Maybe 1 more at least villain isle!

i know we've had some alrdy but more cossies. free ones this time- like the sg cape or more chest details. (accolade designs for chest design)

Here's what im expecting personally.

New zone is a guarantee. Last two issues the zone refinements have been VERY minimal compared to past issues so it pratically means that they are working on something big in this department.

More pvp changes - i expect this to have more widespread changes than issue 13, hopefully get some form of pvp zone games going.

The coming storm to finally reveal themselves, will be a huge HUGE mistake if they dont push this story along greatly in this issue now. Mystery is good, but wait too long and people get tired waiting for it.

New costumes (free) - New costume designer = more customes/better quality, so this is a must now.

Graphics update

New powersets - this is going to happen in my opinion.

Actually, I think they're going to be playing I15 very close to their chests. After all, wouldn't want the competition stealing any (more) of your ideas, would you?

Since i15 is (in theory) roughly 2 months away from at least beta, wouldnt it be too late for champions to steal any more ideas from it since they too are launching soon?

Depends on what the ideas are and how easy they are to implement.

Sounds good!, In my opinion CoH really does need to go global to compete with the enviromental diversification seen in Champions!: Moonbase Armstrong/Spacestation Gagarin, Rikti Homeworld, Jungle, Desert, Iceworld, Underwater Kingdom of the Coralax - STAT!

imo, a bad idea.

Theres many people that think i14 is a waste of time and the issue holds nothing for them. Certainly since i12 theres been nothing brilliantly new to the game that I find exceedingly fun.

Powerset proliferation was brilliant, and not including any in i14 after stating it should come up atleast every other issue (cant find quote for that) is a bit of a pain.

Playing i15 close to the chest is all well and good, but revealing stuff early and making it look exciting is the only way people like me not in love with i14 are gonna keep interested in the game.

The trouble I'm begining to have is that yes Issue 14 was quite nice and I was very excited but...well...lets just say the player base pretty much ruined it, it was inevitable that the farming maps would outcrowd the decent story telling ones, the rating system is pretty awful.

To be brutually honest the Magic Booster pack got people more excited in the various Union global channels I frequent than the MA, it held peoples interest for about a week, I may still tinker with it just to make a decent lowbie arc (which is sorely limited, since 90% of the arcs are aimed at farmers or toons IO'd out the backside) and then calling it quits, I'm not going to get hall of fame, devs choice or any of that, so what's the point if the arc is going to languish with the other decent arcs buried amid the mountainous pile of crud that fills the MA...

We really do need some more info about Issue 15 and what we can expect, the creative side of the MA won't hold peoples interest for long...well...so I reckon anyway...

My bet?

We won't see I-15 going live in less then 6 months. There will be stuff in it that I didn't expect and I am sure not the things we expect to be in it.

I also expect a new system to farm. They brought us:
The normal inf farms, the badge farm, the rare IO and salvage farms, the vanguard merits farms, the merits farms and now the ticket farms. There will be a new one in 1-15 or I-16 at the latest.

I know this sounds a bit gloomy and doomy but this way I can be pleasantly surprised.

If you're correct about the 6 months, or even close to it, it will spell big trouble for this game.

I want it to continue to be successful, but in order to do that the devs need to move quickly and get some real content out to us - not amateur, virtual reality farm arcs/missions.

Hopefully another 250 badges to add to the 125 I haven't got..... (oh for the good old days of i7 when I had all but 6 of the available badges)

TBH there is still stuff I haven't done and I'm not leaving until the proverbial lights go out, so each issue is just more stuff to choose from.

I ran a couple of ITF since I14's launch and something caught my eyes at the very last mish.
While we were fighting Romulus in his nictus form, a 5th column minion clearly talked about Romulus' crazy next project : Atlantis.

Hint ? I (so) hope so...
I never noticed that line of text before Issue 14, and we know Devs (especially WarWitch) love use NPC's texts to give us clues about what's going on.
