Nope. My dad quit wrestling back in '75 when he tore his knee up. Retired British Lightweight champion. You won't of heard of him though, it was before wrestling became popular and televised.

Uncle Marty was a great guy though. Another close friend of the family who we unfortunately lost contact with...

No its NC West thats doing the consolidating (as Its looks after the western business), COH doesn't even exist for NC Korea anymore, that playerbase were all shuffled off to the US servers quite a while ago.

From what I can figure, it seems like a botch job, they've basically gutted the entire Brighton office staff for some quick cash relief and really not thought where to go from there...

All my post means is that yesterday there was a marketing, localisation and community structure in place here in Brighton. We all came to work expecting that structure to remain long term. As of yesterday lunchtime that all changed, and there is going to be an inevitable period of transition and adjustment.

In particular, it's going to take a few days at least until the various studios (NCNC included) know who will be taking up offers in the US and who will be taking the voluntary redundancy.

Well, to be completely accurate, he was my god father, not my uncle; but I always called him just Uncle Shirley. Have known him since I was knee high to a wasp and it's only a disagreement between Shirley's missus and my dad that our families drifted apart in the 15 years before he passed.

He and my dad were in the army together, and were wrestlers together. Old old friends.

There are MMO's with global server and account systems, but WAR isn't one of them.

So, from my own assumption, they wont make a big scale team for Aion Europe, why would they first kick out 50 people (sort of) and then rehire a bunch to cover Aion, while their current people already know the going in NCsoft?

Its not only CoH i care about, its NCsoft versus Europe as whole. Clearing an entire office while having 2 major games comming, just doesnt make any sence.

Just out of curiosity, how many are now left in Brighton?

What I can guess is that Aion and any more MMOs wont have european side of things delt with, it'll all be US servers/forums etc. only judging by the fact that as you said, it makes no sense to gut the office and then release two MMOs in Europe.

Marketing is probably being kept merely to do just that, market the new products in Europe (have booths at games conventions etc.), nothing actually related to CoH/CoV unless we can another boxed expansion.

They have levelled the series against NZ and we have no answer to accurate bowling. The Aussies may be less than they were but we're a lot worse than we can be

So, sudden and apparently unexpected cuts in staff, days before an earnings report released on Friday 13th. I don't think it's going out on a limb to predict that it might not be a good earnings report...

125k subs in CoX US/EU was the Q4 FY 2007

6% of that is 7500

i expect theve lost more than 7500 subs

the truth of the matter is u wont see the full nature of i13's demise until the q1 fy 2009 is realease as i13 was only realeased on the 2nd of dec
