This is very good news.
Technically it's been possible for as long as the game's existed using Yellow Dog linux and WINE. (Or Boot Camp and XP)
However that's always been a tad fiddly and not very satisfactory. However this promises to be a lot better and I know for a fact of at least 2 people who will join the game when this happens (and probably play on Defiant too, so there you go Standoff)
But I do like this.

This might just have ensured i sub next month, i've been dieing to play a half decent mmo on my mac. I have both a Pc and a MAC and lets face it, i'm sick of having to wait for my PC to load internet explorer.
I've been a PC lover from i started but MAC runs *alot* smoother than any PC will ever. Its this uninterupted quality that makes mac just as important to me as a gamer. Oh and... i dont get virus' on my mac
YAY for this?

only because nobody writes them for mac... if someone did it would go through the mac community like a dose of salts.
Mac is not better, merely different. and this will run like dog dirt because if it's not written by Apple, it always does.
Most new macs are windows compatible nowadays.
My friend played a CoX trial on her new mac thing. She just installed XP and ran it.
I only know of 2 popular, mainstream MMO's on Mac at the moment. WoW, and EVE.
Good hunting, CoHMac!
WAR will be on the Mac at some point as well.
I've never used a mac but don't understand the rivalry between pc and mac users. As far as I'm aware the main market for mac users is the US. I've seen one or two in my long career of being a security guard but the majority of people in offices and courts use PCs in this country. If the game can be made compatible for a wider user base surely thats a good thing?
I just get a bit annoyed with the tribal thing of "my technology is better than your technology, nyah nyah". I've seen it with kids fighting over their x-box 360 and PS3. I like both machines. there are games on both I like to play and like the PC and Mac I just think they are different, not one superior to the other.

Very true, although I'm not sure how well it would run through a Windows emulation, There are things like map plug-ins that obviously would not be accessible to the Mac community.
The Mac-only exclusive of a 'straight to mission teleport' is an odd choice in my opinion, Mac users any less capable of finding the mission entrance manually? - no!, ahh well... at least we know what the 57 Month Veteran award is going to be for the rest of us.

Ah right. Read the post.
Well, as long as we are allowed to pick'em up as extras, I'm happy.

OOOOHHHHH!!!! It's nearly weekend can I start the negativity... pleeeease?
Straight to mission teleport would decrease the time that people spend in city zones...
...won't this lead to (at least slightly) emptier city/island zones...
...and so lead to more people thinking that the game is dying as the city zones now appear deserted?
Just a musing. Not sure that a straight to mission tp is needed and can see a slight downside for it... though I'll probably get it when it's available as:
1 - though not needed I've no problems in small payments for useful perma-temps, if only because one less beer is a price worth paying to help CoX remain worthwhile for NC.
2 - it will be a godsend for Positron and SSTFs on superspeeders!

Thing about the mission TPer, and this isn't clear, technically, its easier to have it TP you into the mission, rather than to the mission door.
I expect it has a longish recharge timer anyway.
I really should do something about this signature.
It'll be useful on those low level missions in Atlas though. The ones where you have to spend 10 minutes jogging across the map to the far corner...

*sigh* That's it, I'm totally sick of this rubbish forum software!
It's bad enough that it sometimes takes 8 or more retries to post anything, but the duplicates too!? GAH!!
From now on, I'm not gonna bother trying to edit or delete double posts... Sick and tired of all the blasted time outs and "Form is invalid" errors. It's enough to drive a person away from the forums altogether!

Or, red-side, those damn Thorn Tree Isle missions that keep cropping up post-30. And the Technician Naylor ones. What is it about Nerva that made them put all the repeatedly-used mission doors miles away from the zone entrances?

Sadism.
Personally, I blame War Witch, as she's the one who places the mission doors.

Eh? Most of Naylors missions are about 12 feet away from him.
That Mu person is annoying though, he sends you all over the place!
Surely the items are part of the account code, so theoratically, us windows users could buy said mac issue, add it to our account and be happy?

If you have nothing useful to say, you have two choices: Say something useless or stay quiet.
I suspect it's a game code, rather than an addon code, so you would get a whole new account to pay for if you do that, Ghostie.
Wait until they release the pack, and fork out a tiny amount for it is my advice.

Yes, but miles away from the zone or even SG Teleport entrance.

well, teleport to door will be useful, because ppl can then use their recall friend to get the rest of the team as they zone in.
Question is, will it actually tp between maps as well, or just tp to the mission if you are on the right map? The latter would be useful during low level, the other would be great al through the game, but as someone pointed out, make the game look even less like an MMO.
You'd be hard pressed to spot anyone on defiant villains, thinking the twilight zone bug's back!

You can still pity them, standard Mac mouses only have one button.
[/ QUOTE ]
True but thats because technically "right click" doesn't exist on a mac, or more precisely its replaced with "ctrl + click". Really though what do you use the secondary mouse button for unless reconfigured personally for something else >.< For me tho i'll be using a macbook pad it'll be interesting to see how it plays with regards controls. I'm rather excited to see how it handles on my mac too.
