Ty GR for the update. Appreciate your time posting that, am sorry to hear in the current climate that Brighton have been hit so hard.
Like others, I think its a shame that NC West have been so silent over this - I just hope it doesnt hurt EU players loyalty, but more importantly I think the boat has potentially been missed here. Ok so we dont know what plans actually are going ahead, but this was a perfect time to get the server list merged with the USA side of the game, giving people chance to make new toons on the USA servers with all their vet rewards and current EU server chars/sgs/bases etc if they wanted to. This may happen, we dont know, but I for one am concerned about the level of activity of the EU servers and potential lack of support etc.
However this isnt a doom post for those ready to jump, a concerned one only. -

Agree with FFM there about 64bit. Am running it flawlessly with every device I have supported.
However I dont agree with getting the OEM version. You can grab a vista home premium upgrade from amazon for about 60 quid and apply to MS for a media change from 32 bit and get the 64bit for about 7 quid (as 32bit is all that comes in the box, apart from Ultimate which ships with both).

However if you are a student etc you can grab Vista Ultimate very cheaply for about 40 quid from http://www.microsoft.com/student/dis...k/default.aspx which is even cheaper.
In theory OEM is limited to that one machine (although I know ppl work around that) but an upgrade version can be put on your computers in the future , one at a time of course -
ultimate vs home premium, shouldnt affect you really. You will get bored of ultimates little extras pretty quick so stick with home premium. Would recommend 64 bit OS with 4 gb memory tho if you can
Processor: Quad all the way , esp if video playback/encoding. Got a Q9550 E0 running CoH without any issues at all so not sure what the poster before was referring too, course anyone can have issues with games on any hardware
GFX, another vote on nvidia, esp as they brought the physx tech and have added support for it in their cuda drivers using their cards, geforce 8 onwards tho. Just dont bother getting the physx card and use the power of your geforceif you want to get better results get two identical cards and use one for gfx and one physx, supported in nvidia drivers

call me evil
but would rather see NC putting efforts into getting COX more publicity and more players than making a mac working version , afterall who uses that little toy called a Mac

Irrelevant, if it's made by Norton, then it's evil.
Youtube doesn't lie. Norton is evil.
And if you use Norton products, you'll be evil by association.
...you don't want to be evil, do you....?

Course I am evil, well known fact -

and who was talking about Norton AV? Maybe read what the post was about? Just a thought lol -
THE item I posted about, not Norton as a whole, is FREE!! Its a utility thats free to use, free to download and does a little handy job with UAC, allowing you to just click an option to not ask you again. Its not like Tweak UAC which suppresses the elevation prompt for everything that would show it, but this Norton utility (which did I mention, is free!) allows you to set a rule for individual programmes that result in an elevated UAC prompt.
Makes ya wonder why bother putting potentially useful info here ehYes a lot of Norton programmes are bloated and slow, but maybe, just maybe, check out the info and programme that was linked 'before' the dig at stuff lol . Did any of you complaining about Norton actually try this UAC utility, yeah the free one?

for those vista users getting tired of the UAC prompt but not willing to turn UAC off, try this...works well so far

User Account Control (UAC) is a security feature of Microsoft Windows Vista that changes the architecture of the access token creation process and prevents users from logging on with full administrative rights.
While the intent of this feature may have been enhanced security, all too often users need administrative rights for routine tasks like installing/updating programs and changing operating system settings. Additionally, many software applications need the appropriate access to run properly. This leads to poor user experiences because UAC always prompts the user on every administrative task. The prompts are slow to display and appear frequently without warning. Also, UAC prompts are confusing and do not provide users with any recommendations. This actually raises security concerns because prompting the user for every action with the intent that the user misses nothing is a false security model. The more a user is prompted, the more likely it is that he or she will dismiss the prompt without reading it.
The net effect is that many users find the UAC security clearance/prompting process annoying, especially those who are a given computers sole user and are running the latest Norton Internet Security software.
The Norton User Account Control tool will replace parts of the Windows Vista UAC system. It will utilize the UAC security feature from the Windows Vista architecture, while simultaneously improving user-friendliness significantly. The tool prompts recommendations based on an assessment on the user-action i.e. the signature information of the executable. The tool also has a remember me feature that allows users to suppress future prompts from the same action.
The goal of this tool is eventually build a white-list (as well as black-list) database on various administrative actions, and to enable users to make smart decisions without unnecessary prompts, using prompts only as a last resort. The prompt will provide users with as much information as possible, as well as recommendations on the action requested. The Norton User Account Control tool will collect user input as well as information about the application that causes UAC prompts. This data will be processed to help build and improve the comprehensiveness and robustness of the white list.

Just wanna say "cyas" to the CoH community on Defiant. Although played a fair bit on Union, Defiant was always my home on CoH. Been on for the past three and a half years but recently am finding I dont have the time to get on and am loosing interest. Didnt do too bad getting 11 level 50s, not as good as some mad sods, you know who you are
lol.
Have found my time here to be a lot of fun. Met some really interesting people that have been both great laughs and very supportive through some rough times in rl. You know who you guys and gals are- Kiya, Fatman, Codename, Dilv, Kiss of D, Lady DF, River, Dark Crow, TG, Aerie, Quantrail, Ilfrit, Maz, Miss Chief, Lady Tormentor, Littl'Loony, Mina, Fulla, Merc, Gen, Capt and many more...
Might return if things take a turn for the better, both the game and more time in rl for it, but wish everyone a lot of joy and success with the game and all friends they make on their journey with CoX.
