The nearest thing to a primitive (stone age) shield is the Ishlangu carried by Zulu warriors. It was made from an Ox hide stretched over a wood frame.

Hang on a sec mate, i apologise for the "cave man" generalisation, as it seems to have upset all the budding historians.

Let me put it another way, this is a super hero game, set in the most part in the present/future.

I was just passing an opinion that we might have now got enough "days gone by" content.

[/ QUOTE ]

Unless someone writes a 1880s-1920s steampunk and/or horror zonal set in England (or New England alternatively) I agree!

The "coming storm" is taking its own sweet time arriving. Did they take a wrong turn (hint : Keep going past the planet with the ring, take a left at the big orangy gassy planet, straight past the rocky red planet, stopping only to squash the little robots wandering its surface, and we're the nice blue and green planet immediately after it).

There are two iconic titans of comics; Superman and Captain America. One of them uses a shield, the other asked if he could have one of his own when got to use it.

The idea that shields aren't for superheroes is just plain dumb, it's a statement that doesn't just fail based on the evidence, but also thematically.

The Talsorian shield is one I didn't expect and it looks rather nice. There is at last a proper hat and southern necktie for my Archery Trick arrow defender Hogtied, Talking of archery,... I hope somewhere in I13/14 we have finally going to get the tint-able back option 'Quivers'-Its long overdue!.

The new spread of Tuxedos look very nice!, but the phrase "all dressed up and nowhere to go" springs to mind. We need an Opera house/Ballroom (on a neutral Co-Op Island/dimensional zone) with a red carpet outside, waiting fans and Paparazzi behind barriers with custom targeted phrases.
It would be a good place to hold annual events and competitions.

Hehe , seeing the amount of cosume contests we have - A catwalk in a fashion show enviroment held inside the opera house with an applauding audience and photographer's camera flashes would be great fun.
It would certainly capitalise on one of CoX's favourite strengths and pastimes that is the costume creator.

There is one mission where you've to rescue a crowd at an opera performance from the Carnies.

But when you enter you get "This old warehouse has perfect acoustics for an Opera"

So we DO have an opera house. Unfortunately its like a billion other buildings in Paragon (its in Brickstown somewhere I think)

Well, to set things straight on behalf of the historians: Hide bound shields were first used by Genghiz Khan when he aided Christopher Columbus in his fight against the Ancient Egyptians to free Moses and the Israelites. The Mighty Khan would hunt down the rare Lesser Spotted Himalayan Elephant with his rifles, traded from the Confederacy for 'fire water' (a common name at the time for fresh volcanic lava used by the South to fuel their huge iron Trojan Horse war engines), skin them and stretch their leathery hides over bamboo kite frames.

Hence the phrase 'kite shield'.

Class dismissed.

I'm a little unsure of the elemental shields since you won't be able to use elements attack powersets with them.

You can use elemental attack sets with shields.

All the shields showcased thus far are impressive (despite the dull grey on many of them) and the new cossie pieces look cool, cop stuff will help with my Urban Shield toon once this goes live and I remake him. Can't wait to see what's unlockable and what other designs they can come up with squee
