Only Defiant EU side?
-
After a couple weeks with NCsoft technical support, I finally discovered the cause.
It seems that Dell Vostro 3550 laptop has issues with *ALL* OpenGL-based software.
It seems they are working on a BIOS fix, but no ETA currently exists. -
-
Quote:worked here also.Atech support person told me to log into master account and change the GAME password to the SAME one you have been using. This worked for me when nothing else did. Hope it helps.
althought it seems that the "remember me" tick doesn't do anything if I close and reopen my browser (have to login again) -
Same here...

Don't know if this is the best place for this questions, but with the opening of the Freedom thing, I'm confused on which things will be available to the Premium accounts (precisely, how will be my account on Premium).
* Going Rogue: I purchased it before I21. Will I have access as Premium to: Pretoria Zones, Alignment System and Mission and Incarnate Trials?
* Epic Archetypes. I unlocked both sides back when I was a regular subscriber. Will I have access to them as Premium or should I buy them again?
* Capes and Auras. Old characters that have unlocked them via missions will still have access to them? I get that only new characters (or characters that haven't still unlocked them before I21) will have to purchase them through the store?
* Inventions: ok, I got the story. Just let me say that the 2$/month affaire and the full unlock only at Tier 7 with no "partial" unlock as per the MA is annoying. Especially for those that have a decent roster with old characters and enough inventions on them. I would ask/suggest/plead/menace that at least at a certain Tier (3? 4? 5?) we can at least have the invention slotted effective. I accept I can't slot anymore or I can't create anymore. But please, let us play our 400+M builds as they are, without requiring money...
Regarding the last part, anyone has any idea on how a SO'd character would be in Incarnate trials? -
I recently upgraded my notebook (tbh I bought a new one) and strangely enough coh runs "slower" than on the old hardware...
On the current hardware I'm getting 18-20fps[1] with "recommended" settings, moving the slider to "ultra" fps drop to 5-6 while I remember that on the old notebook I could experience Ultra mode with decent framerate (20 or so). I was expecting the newer hardware would run the game better, not worse!
My current hardware is an AMD Radeon HD 6630M 1GB, on a i7@2.7GHz, 4GB@1333MHz and Windows 7 64 bit. I'm currently using the latest drivers from DELL.
The previous notebook had an nVidia Geforce 8600M/512M, was a core 2 due @2,1GHz, but I was using windows XP 32bit.
The curious thing is that Windows device manager shows two different video cards: the AMD radeon and an "intel graphics family". It seems like COH is using the intel graphics and not the radeon card... Strange because I know other games use the radeon pretty well: In lotro I got a bump to 60fps in very high settings, while on the old hardware I had 35fps in high settings.
[resolution is the same, obviously]
Any idea about what is happening here?
[1] In Mercy Island, just near the Arbiter, looking westwards at the roofs -
I'm experiencing this issue not on a regular basis, but when I run the launcher (EU launcher), sometimes it stays there on the "connecting" screen an neither the "news" part of the window shows up.
I have to launch the game it via the "cityofheroes.exe -project eucoh".
Then sometimes the launcher comes up fine, checks the patch and everything is ok.
I'm using win 7 64bit. Any hint on what could be wrong? -
Been out of the game for a long while (basically, I was out since I13-I14) and the most important thing was because my SG decided to change game as the pvp wasn't fun anymore.
I agree with most of the OP opinions, but, nonetheless, I agree also that the devs HAD to do something because the pvp pre-I13 was not open to everyone and had some flaws that had to be addressed.
My 2 cents are below, maybe some of these are repetitions.
* Diminishing Returns: these were inevitable and (mind, as a pvper) welcome. The NUMBERS of the DR though are completely wrong. It simply was absurd and insane that a team with 3 thermal corruptor could give 60%/90% resistance to mostly all kind of damage (I remember when in RV we simply let a blaster go inferno among us hitting all of us for 55 damage). But how DR are implemented now, this is ridiculous. Having 40% base resistance to all from my epic armor and increasing it to 44% from a thermal shield is ridiculous. Makes buffing ATs useless (and that's exactly how I felt). Suggestion? Base resistance from armor at 20%, soft cap at 40%, hard cap at 60% (for a corruptor) so that two shields may be welcome but more are not.
* Travel Suppression: again, I appreciate the idea. Fly wasn't a PVP viable travel power. SS/SJ were the ONLY one used by most of all the PVPers (with teleport left to those that could hide). Solution: increase flight speed cap and change +fly enhancements to give more boost, like interrupt reduction or knockback distance, also, there is no power that protects against the -fly, some of the less diffused buffing lines should have been blessed with such a power. Second reason for travel suppression: (lol)melee. What mac pointed out as a viable solution could have been enough (2s suppressed after being hit by a melee meant that you were basically at his mercy because he would hit you again and again continually suppressing you).
* Control Powers: it seems you pointed out at me and said "lol, let's see how he's goint to eat all these changes". I had two buffers (and you killed them with the DR) and an ice/ice blaster, that got nerfed his three holds and even its slow component. Anyway, it was freaking absurd being held for 20s by a controller. But a 2s hold when you may have a 3s animation for a big hitter power (say, total focus?) is another bad history. Regarding mez protection/resistance, it was also absurd that a 3-stacked clear mind could never be passed by any kind of mez even by a dominator in domination. Mez resistance can be ok (but please address the mez from the maobs in the PVP zones...), with a DR on the maximum resistance, and a reduction of hold duration is ok: 3-4s for normal ATs, 5s for dominator (+60% duration, max 8s) and 6s for controller for domination. Otherwise, controller and dominator mez should have shorter suppression after they land (say, make the suppression counter start from when you're mezzed and not when the mez ends, so that a 3s stun and a 15s suppression result in 12s). And cap resistance so that mez last at least a decent amount of time (say 2-3s?). I think that also here is a question of fiddling with numbers so that you can leave controlling ATs with the feeling and playstyle that mezzing is their weapon.
* Heal Decay: again, the idea is good, 3 healers in a team could put out such a massive amount of healing that was really really hard to kill someone in such a team. But the DR that have been implemented seems a bit hard. Lower the duration of a decay (5s insted of 8s?) or lower the amount of decay that is applied (say 12,5%?). That reduces the effectiveness of healers without leaving them feel useless.
* Damage Rebalance. That was also ok, but hitting so hard the "heavy hitters" of the most abused lines (bitter ice blast, blaze), annoyed - inevitably - those that had these kind of toons. I would have preferred more buffing to those other lines that weren't used for pvp. -
TBH, I played an Ice/Ice/Cold blaster as my first toon, I loved it, but there's something in the /ice secondary that leaves me unsatisfied, basically the lack of +recovery/+end powers.
/Fire has it, /Electric has it, /Energy has it. /Device is a completely different secondary so it isn't comparable. You have a toggle (chilling embrace), and no +end/+recovery powers, while /elec has a toggle (static field) and power sink, /fire has hot feet and consume and /energy has NO toggle and conserve power (and boost range, and power boost which would marry well with freeze ray and bitter freeze ray).
Other sub-par powers:
* Ice patch: very nice kdown power but with the range of an hula hoop (easily perma, though) and only pbaoe, good but means you should play tricky (place it round corners).
* Frozen Aura: PbAoE sleep, Good for soloing, bad for grouping (sleep breaks on first damage, there aren't group that don't do some aoe, be either the immobilize from trollers or the small damage from sleet or freezing rain).
* In the /Cold epic then you'll get Snow Storm (another toggle quite end hungry and with /Ice secondary you still have no +End/+Recovery powers) but unlike the same powers from Cold Domination and Storm Summoning, you won't get the -fly component.
So basically, fun to playm, but you must then slot for End reduction your powers and put sets that give you tons of +end/+recovery.
Unless you pair with a kin ...
Buffing/Debuffing? Cold domination FTW, rolled a Cold/Psi defender, it's a fantastic support toon, can deal decent damage even if /psi doesn't have aim or build up as psi resistance and defense is generally rare and Cold has some of the most powerful debuffs around (together with sonic).
And if you like control, Ice/Ice dominator is wonderful. -
Maybe these requests have already been done somewhere in various form, but I'd really welcome these two things.
1. personal vault storage for all kinds of "storable" (i.e. not only salvage, but also enhancements and recipes).
2. a (limited) shared storage between all account alts. I know now I can send an e-mail to myself to send something, but personal storage may be used for later use. Alternative is SG storage, but personal vault would add another feature.
3. When crafting, give the opportunity to "show also stored salvage" (and if 1 is implemented, add also stored recipes) so that one knows if he has those salvage in bank or not.
Then, if possible, try to modify the zones so that universities and auction houses are close to each others. People tend to gather in zone where those two are close to each other (Cap au diable and Steel Canyon mainly). And of course, put the Vault also close to them. -
As a former member of both I can confirm that:
Italian Posse is an Hero SG
Italian Furies is a Villain SG
But afaik, we all moved to union in the beginning of 2008 and most of us have nearly stopped playing (last login in It. Posse is 42 days ago with the 5th standing at 189 days ago). I don't have any toon into italian furies anymore, but surely the situation isn't be much different.
Anyway I'm still shocked how high in the ranking both sg still stand ... -
I was out of the game for a while (more than a year IIRC). I resubbed as the new GR and the new Incarnates system intrigues me.
Sadly nearly all my old guildmates and friends are currently not interested anymore in the game, so I'm trying to find another guild.
My COH CV:
- 21+ month veteran
- started on defiant in 2006 moved on union in 2008 (some old players may know me from there)
- my level 50 are in my signature. I have also a roster full of other alts (most of those level 30+). A couple 50 are nearly fully IO'd.
- was a leader in an SG that beat the Cathedral Of Pain back in 2006
- played pvp in the past but it's not my main interest (I'm probably terribly underslotted now for it).
- like teamplay, prefer support roles to plain dmg roles.
- non english player, no problems with english (if you can withstand my accent and my mistakes)
- playtime: mainly evenings, 21.30 GMT+1 and later. Some sunday afternoon also.
- Hero/Villain: whatever, just here for the fun.
- Roleplayer: nope. Well, just a touch of it here and there, it adds a bit of salt. -

Mostly though just take all the kin powers but fulcrum and repel (this is for pvp btw, might think im mad saying no fulcrum but in pvp siphon power is just more viable as people dont tend to ball up in pvp, so your fulcrum wont be very useful).

unless you time well a FS when a friend of yours finds himself in the middle of a MM and his pets...
seen an ice/nrg friend of mine tri-shotting a brute after a FS like that...
and in zone pvp, you can use the mobs around to buff your mates..
anyway, FS+siphon power = -50% damage... it's still workable as a debuff for the target than a buff for your mates, as with 2 50 rech IOs + hasten you can cast it nearly every 20s (siphon speed shortens the cast time even more). -
Hi. I currently (happily) own a lvl 50 toon like yours. I sometimes do some pvp with my friends. I'm specced for teaming and not for soloing, so I have few attacks and took the leadership pool.
The best answer for your a) and b) questions are: "wait for I13".
Personally, as I said, I'm not specced for solo pvp, so I went on a sapper spec, meaning few attacks and low damage.
If you want to play sapper, think about placing a "tempest chance for -end" in all your attacks.
I currently haven't many sets as I specced my defender before I11 (where end drain sets were introduced). I suggest aiming mainly at +dmg sets and +recharge as a second choice. -
Don't remember the team composition we had, I just remember we were 8. Think we were heavy on damage (scrappers, brutes, blasters) and low on controllers (maybe only a mind/ff).
We went down the "kill Romulus 4 times" route, but we found it quite easy. Yes, there were a couple deaths but it wasn't a constant wipe.
All taken it lasted around 1h45.
I still find 4th mission of RWZ TF (defeat weakened hamidon) more complicated, all the "unresisted damage" and "-heal" debuffs are quite a pain. -
(Sorry if this has already been asked for)
Last night i was helping a friend transferring some enhancements from a toon to another. He gave me via trade window 2 enhs and then swapped toon. Then we traded again with his second toon and i mis-clicked the drag and drop of the enhancement, resulting in dropping it on another toon (we were in cap au diable in front of the BM).
I didn't remember that crafted enhancement could be given for free to other toons in the same way as inspirations. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I'd suggest that for crafted enhancements, when you drop it on another toon, you should have a (configurable) prompt like the one you get when you slot an enhancement.
You know, dropping a numina +regen/+recovery on another toon and then kindly ask him to hand it back it's a bit embarassing.
Luckily the third toon that received the enh, was another friend of ours... -

I hope to see these changes as soon as possible. We don't know how this new system works right now, we know only few things and we can't judge them without knowing all the changes. We have to wait until Castle releases the official PvP list to think about it, and even then I'm sure the devs know what they are doing, so if they decide to release this new system with Issue 13, go for it! If they don't, how do you will call this Issue, Issue 13: Responsibility? Also, many, many people I know are waiting for PvP rebalancing, and if the devs will not release these changes for Issue 13, they will leave this game for sure. And I don't want that.
Btw, from what I heard, I like all the changes they are doing, and simply I can't wait for them

Yep we all had some great fun with plenty of kills for each side, would be nice to get this sort of PvP more often, maybe some Gathering v.s E.V.I.L arena?
With regards to my blaster, if I did meet you in a 1 vs 1 I'd probs have my face pushed through my skull, I'm more of a team player on the blaster hehehe.
Thanks for the fun man

Just seen now this thread and yes, it's been a fun night.
I came in late after a dinner with friends and puros sent me a tell "come to rv", he said "we're just three" and in a bit the team was full. Well it was half an hour of really nice pvp.
Though my defender wasn't so well pvp slotted I've enjoyed myself much.
Would like to repeat the experience as I've finally respecced my defender, I'd like to see how now how it's changed (especially i'd like to see how does -jump affects me... hell that was really annoying) -
I agree with the list...
Hope we're going to see something of those points in Issue 12.
Yep, maybe the cross-server arenas (or zones) would be really the first place where to start. -
Having transferred my corr from Defiant to Union I must say Union has more pvp than Defiant.
Defiant pvp is mainly arena based, sometimes Siren's Call and Recluse Victory, but battles are short and people start quitting the zone when one of the two side is clearly winning, on Union I saw reinforcements coming to even the score. Defiant's Warburg is always nearly empty.
Of course this applies to the time i play (mainly evening and weekends) -
Hi all.
I'm in desperate need of lvl 40 recipes on my thermal.
I'm willing to join any 2nd respec Trial or Strike Force around lvl 40 that gets organized.
If anybody gathers a team for such a task, pls send a pm to @molleafauss and if I'm online I'll gladly join.
Thanks very much -
hi!
nice to know that.
I currently own a lvl40 ice/thermal (w/o leadership, it doesn't fit in the build and I've got my own end problems even without it...)
I have a nice SG and I'm not interested in moving, but when you team, pls send me a message, I'm always willing to team (pve, zone pvp though not a pro, whatever).
I'm usually online in the evening (usually I log around 8PM UK time) and sometimes during week ends.
My contacts are in my signature and... well, I'll send a msg to SIng Star in game...
