I'm going to answer the questions regarding "why the heck are NC starting a marketing campaign?" with a question of my own. (I know they were a few pages back, but this is something I've considered a little bit this evening).

Why would any company run a marketing campaign for an existing product?

I have some answers, but I'm interested in other people's thoughts - but here's a little question to get you pondering: When was the last marketing campaign for CoX?

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

About a year ago there was that competition to design an advert for CoH.

Um, because it's a fairly standard business practice for a product you want to continue selling? Turn on the TV - several dozen adverts per hour for existing products on almost all channels - part of marketing campaigns.

Open papers, magazines, or just sit at home and wait for the junk mail leaflets to drop through the letter box - more advertisements for existing products that are part of marketing campaigns. There's a lot of it about.

I can remember one a year or two back, but damned if I can recall exactly when. In any case, surely the relevant thing's surely why they'd do one in the immediate future. Some thoughts:

* New owners
* Large amounts of new content about to appear, courtesy of new owner's increased investment
* Competitors starting to appear on the horizon

It does look tempting to subscribe to it - but we get other horse magazines anyway, so they most likely cover that

Come to that when was the last time you saw an ad for ANY MMO other than WoW? I've seen the odd ad here and there for Lineage and Aion, but other than that nada. Never seen an ad for SWG, AOC, DAoC, DCUO, UO, EQ or any of the others. The only time I've ever seen these games promoted is as magazine cover disk freebie trials. I only found out about CoX from a mate at work who gave me a buddy code.

But then "there's no demand" for a transfer tool....

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is the reason why there isn't one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Read the threads - two people have asked, and I know others.

Thereofre the IS a demand. As I said above - maybe not a big demand, but there is one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh! Two people! Wow! They are really going to spend money on two people! I know! If I ask for a pony, they're going to spend money on just me as well!

[/ QUOTE ]

So we decended to the lowest form of wit. Not suprised.

On my personal experience there are at least 10 people I know of who were online last night that would move over.

So, given the player count was around 117 i believe and at least 10 of them wanted to move I believe that accounts for ... oh about 9 or 10% of the active server population last night.

Makes you think...

ps.
Nice job de-railing a thread with a genuine point to make with talk of poines just because you don't agree with it. What a load of pony. You people make me sick at times.

By allowing free (or even chargable) movment of toons from one server to another it increase the chances of evening out the server populations.

Ahem

After reading the first 20 replies I noticed this is transformed into a semi polite flame war.

Still despite rudeness, questionmarks etc. I am in favour of merging our servers into the US server sets. That would mean Vigilance and Zukunft remain as they are but the german and french speaking persons can go meet more exciting people on Union Defiant plus the American servers.

It would solve our population problems, it would also boost the population of the American servers. For me that is a win win situation.

I'd be happy for this to happen too, although I've found the population on Onion pretty good hero-side recently.

Villains I either solo my MM since there's not many villains around, or play my US account, where there are plenty about.

It's pointless wishing for things like merging the server sets. It's NOT going to happen, and has been explained why many many times. If you want to play on the US servers, you can do the same anyone else can. Buy a copy of the US game, and start from scratch. Not the ideal answer, but the ONLY answer.

If you've nothing better the add - please stay away from this thread.

I'm sure we all know whats been said in the past. However I and others do believe this is a need for the good of the game. If we stop asking then it won't happen.

Please don't try to shoot people down in flames just because you don't want to see the feature being suggested.

FFM didn't shoot anyone down in flames, he just repeated what is the current stance on this I'm afraid.

You've no right to tell people not to reply in a thread, especially if its just because they make a point disagreeing with yours.
