Congratulations on an excellent idea, a pity there is seemingly no input from the powers that be

It's a long, long way off but I'll tentively volunteer too with my Necro/Dark. I can't guarentee the zombies won't try to eat the racers (or other zombies) though

Its early days, I PM'd and emailed GhostRaptor when the race was announced. He is a very busy young man.

Sadly I will be in Dubai on the 31st, well only sad because I wont be able to make it, its going to be an awesome week in Dubai :P

Ok,...
2 weeks to go so I suppose we should get serious about how this is going to work, I need help with this because I cannot spend all day on the forums working this out - but first:

[ QUOTE ]
# NCsoft Europe (Courtesy of GhostRaptor) kindly adds PPD codes for First, Second and Third places to Race winners, more PPD codes for second and third places on the Costume competition (to be held after).

# Depending on turnout, If we can make this as popular as X4:Evolution attendance-wise (50 people or more) GhostRaptor has also kindly offered to bestow Yellow Titles for the Winners, this is I stress dependant on turnout - otherwise they will be temporary.

[/ QUOTE ]

Right then, onto the race details.
This needs to be a lowbie race for obvious reasons, but the addition of yet another temp jetpack feature complicates things, Do we raise the lv-limit and make the race longer allowing for jetpack usage? or stick to a roadrace at the first couple of levels?.

Right *only just noticed this thread* I'm in! I would like to volunteer to marshall the event! If you need my help P.M. or contact me Momma!

The problem is always going to be making sure people don't cheat "too much". Instead how's about making the race slightly longer, but with specific checkpoints that you must cross. How you get there is up to you then.

For example, having two checkpoints at the north and south end of a zone would help because if people were to use SG teleporter's, they'd still have to hoof it to the other side of the map as well.

But I'm still in for marshalling this if you need the volunteers. PC working again, so should be no trouble to help out. Also, has this been advertised anywhere other than the forums? Not everybody reads em, and a Global MOTD on the more popular chat channels, or even an official one on Union would be a big help.

Sounds like an excellent event Mother. I'll see what I can do, unsure as to my availability that evening due to Quantum of Solace.

Thankyou Soul_Storm and Pipe_42 for volunteering to help marshall the event.

It has been MOTD on Union Chat in the past and will be re-issued tonight as MOTD. Seeing as though It is a low level race server selection is Irrelevant as preparation of your race entrant which is why it is advertised on 'General' and not 'Union'.... that and General gets more traffic anyway.

GhostRaptor has kindly offered to advertise the event on the official website but he need details finalised with regard to level limit/AT restrictions and just how long the race is - which is why the thread is refreshed. Two weeks to go... I'd like to sort race details out within a week so we can have it advertised on the official EU.site for a week.

All suggestions welcome.

I am so up for this race

A good way to do checkpoints are certain badges needing to be collected. Make sure any toon entered has no exploration badges to begin with and then check the winner to make sure they have them all.

As I said earlier in the thread, more than happy to turn cameraman for this if I'm not working!

Btw, I always think a death race like this should be lvl 1 maximum! It cuts down on the whole exploits of powers, slotting etc and also means anyone can enter at a minutes notice, they just roll something really fast and enter

ill have to get back to you in a weeks time Mumsie, but - time permitting i can offer the services of Mortarion to marshal the event, pm me ingame on union (@stryke) or here on the forums regarding details

Looking forward to this!

This! Level 1 toons having to pick up certain badges, maybe a marshall there to help guide people who don't know where they are, but I like this idea.

This sounds interesting but I'm afraid my knowledge of badge locations red-side is somewhat lacking compared to Blue-side, anyone suggest some prominate ones that could be flagged as checkpoints? - At the moment we are looking at the original race-course where we will gather at Kalindra and walk down to the startline near the entrance drones - then straight up towards Mongoose - through (or over the wall) into Mercy - throught to the Port Oakes ferry - straight past the arena and down to the Cap-Ferry - into Cap where we will race up through Aeon Plaza and the jump of faith from the plazas edge down to the Black Market towards the University.

I also have no idea how the new Halloween Zombie Apocalypse spawns could affect this race but it will certainly be great fun.
Any additional points of interest or where we should go from there?

Another alternative (if you have enough Marshals) would be to have each of them hold a particular type of salvage. Each Marshal then gives a piece to the entrants, the winner has to have each of the salvage pieces and be at the right place. Only the final Marshal/Referee/Mothers_Love knows what all the pieces are so that people can't cheat.

It's just an alternative idea if you'd like people to visit specific places

i like the level 1 idea cos its definity something if someone wins first place.
ofc well need to have the marshalls inv ppl to teams to stop ppl tp'n.

dont know about badge checkpoints. cos there quite scattered across the isles.

at least with the marshalls on the team they can check if they use the water etc

Actually, here's one for you, what about Stalkers? Are they allowed to use Stealth?

Edit: And how about Grant Invis etc...?

just a small question, is a saveguard there?
there are enough monsters that can kill a lvl 1 with one shot, and killed racers would make the race rather a silly one.
i do volunteer to kill some bad guy's in port oak, so it's save for the racers.

What can I say? That's an impressive initiative Mother! Thumbs up, mama! All three of'em!

Errrr... that's kinda the point of a death race! Otherwise you may as well make it a race for uber-buffed lvl 50s and save yourself a bit of time.

You should try a deathrace sorudo - a mixture of skill and luck that tests your appreciation of both aggro distances and expletives!
