I am looking for volunteers to help me police and judge a Race Event and following it, a Costume contest this Halloween Friday 31st October.

Halloween Zombie Apocalypse: The Rogue Isles Race

The race will be on the Union Server and will be a low-level deathrace of survival (I'm thinking Level 5 limit) from Kalinda in Mercy straight up to and past Mongoose (Or over wall via permitted Jump-pack) into Mercy, through Mercy to the Ferry to Port Oakes, - cutting through Port Oakes to the Cap Au Diablo Ferry. Once in Cap you will race through or around Aeon plaza over your choice of bridge (no contact with water is allowed in the entire race) through to the University campus. The finishing point at the telephones by the Sphere statue outside the University. Test-runs before the competition date are thoroughly recommended.

I am looking for volunteer Marshalls for the course and I am looking for one or more people to offer to help video capture the event if possible. I can't organise and run this all on my own.

Please feel free to suggest AT-Class restrictions above the obvious exclusion of stalkers for their hide ability, or any loopholes/ exploits you may think of.

#Because of the Zombie-themed DVD prizes the event has an age-limit of 18.
#I imagine you must have the jump-pack to stand a credible chance of winning.
#No temp-travel powers are allowed
#I would appreciate feedback as to how you think Zombie spawns would effect or enhance this race.

Superb stuff. I've got no idea what I'll be up to that far in the future, so I'm tentative to volunteer; if I can support or help in any capacity, let me know. I'm immensely impressed.

Worryingly, I have all of those DVD's already - I've got a bit of a thing for post-apocalyptica.

DON'T eat muffins while I'm developing you.

You have just out prized every event I have seen...... now I need to think about a villain on Union

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

Its official, you work for them

Sounds like a great event and i'll do my best to be there.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Ill help you police the event, I've done it before for the original death race still have my tracksuit infact, just let me know when and where.

Resident Evil:extinction dvd for third prize? Shouldn't that be more of a runner-up prize a-la BLue peter badge, haha

Interesting... Policing, eh? Sounds like the perfect opportunity to practice my abusing skills.

Which I don't have.

Which makes it redundant for me to try and abuse.

Would love to help though. As long as it starts somewhere after three o' clock GMT.

I'd absolutely love to help out with this. The prizes sound awesome and it's tempting to join up for the race. But I'll bite the bullet and offer my assistance as a marshall.

Don't have a 50 villain yet, but these are all low level zones so seems reasonable.

In game handle in my sig, but I'm having a small problem getting online atm. Should be sorted soon, but feel free to PM me in the meantime.

Those are some seriously good prizes there Mother...I like the way the DVDs scale down from the seriously good Evil dead, through the entertaining Land of the Dead to the relatively tepid (though I do actually enjoy it) RE: Extinction. I'd join for sheer joy of doing it but those are cool prizes.

As for the cossie competition I'll just say that my designs are missunderstood, and 28 Days Later is a fantastic prize.

I'd happily join in the death race....

I don't wanna save my soul now,
I just wanna lose control,
And even if it takes a lifetime, to learn:
I'll learn!

Can you slot? Is siphon speed and AM allowed?

Great idea.

I'm (considerably) over 18, am I excluded?

I'd suggest the exclusion of PFF

Happy to have old-timers on-board Scarlet

Re: Pff, yes that for obvious reasons would be excluded, as are other speed enhancing powers such as Syphon-speed and Accelerate Metabolism. I'd like the idea to be you can either slot for defence/resist damage, speed, or heals and just sprint and the jump-pack.

Happy to put this up for debate re:level... I suggest perhaps level 5 maximum? I've started the thread well ahead of Halloween so we can finesse the details.

Cap au Diablo far enough for you at that level, or would you like a longer race?

I should add happy to volunteer my services (and those of MWR if you fancy) and why not go all the way to Grandville? I actually managed that at lvl 8 solo with no buffs so it's gotta be doable at lvl 5 en masse.

L5 means the characters have potential access to Raptor Pack, which could complicate things somewhat.

Also, how are you going to make sure characters don't get recalled at any point, or use SG base or such?

Posted

Raptor packs definately out, The idea of being able to use the jump-pack but tactically at the right time for your route is the idea. Obviously marshalls are going to be on-hand to watch the contestants - closely, but powersets will be looked at on entry and any abuses such as temp-powers or swimming would obviously be disqualification.
I would suggest SG-less to avoid the use of base portal temp powers and under level 5 then if Goldbrickers packs become available.
We can get a feel for whether contestants want to go further than Cap Au Diablo on the run-up to this Halloween event.
No objection personally to it going further if that appears to be the consensus.

I found running to the tailor hard enough on my lvl 6 ruptor before even with jump pack since those damn goldbrickers stand around everywhere and they are hovering up in the air too

[/ QUOTE ]You might want to have the competitors assigned to teams with observers in them (you'd need several observers per zone though). This would allow you to see if someone uses a power like raptor pack for a few seconds, which would be very hard to spot if just observing from air.

Of course, limiting people to L4 (or L1) would make things a lot easier.

Well I've already said in game, but to make it official, put my name down for a Marshal spot Mum.

Someone would need to guard the helicopter in mercy too. I'll help if i'm available.

may i suggest going around the arena tent in port oakes due to the short cut through in oakes whihc has no chance of getting killed or even going on top of the arena in oakes for a check point style point (where u could get told roughly how far u are behind the leaders

Cameraman Coin, reporting for duty

.....well, technically, it will be The Blackmailer, his villainous counterpart, but I like the erarlier phrase. The Blackmailer will just be making sure he gets good shots of anyone who cheats, he needs the inf after all

Oh, and PM sent!

Darn it! I quite like the Resident Evil series, and I've only seen 28 Weeks Later in Thailand. Zombie movies are the best, anyhow.

I can volunteer as a Marshal though, unless the age limit is changed (Or some exceptions are allowed. ).

@MidnightGuard - on Union you may know me as:
Mr. Vile - Electroman X - Zenodorus - Battler
Naga Knight - Stinkspitter

Posted

Hmm... if we're villains shouldn't we be cheating anyway? (Just as long as we don't get caught).

Well the Res.Evil:Extiction is certificate 15 so you'll just have to aim to come third! , either that or get your parents to give me the ok Midnight.

And a big and continued thankyou to all who have volunteered both here and on PMs to marshall the event.
This event was deliberately started early so we could discuss and finesse the route, get screenshots of the route up on the forums and finalise details before the event on Halloween. Obviously activity will increase on this thread the nearer we get to that date.

No, because to quote such a saying there is such a thing as 'honour among thieves'.

Once again thankyou to all who are volunteering.
